I am BORED OUTTA MY MIND waiting for San Fran to get dominated by AZ, so, here are my EARLY-EARLY-EARLY-EARLY PRE-WINTER-MEETINGS MLB Picks! Division winners are the first team, followed by second place, etc.
Keep in mind, I have a lot of things going on in my head at this moment, like my belief that CC Sabathia will end up with the Yankees and the Rays might not get the pitching support they need to be a perennial power for the next 10 years, and that the AL Central will be the best division in baseball. So, if everything happens the way I see it in the off-season, this is what I think will happen!
AL East Yankees Red Sox Rays Orioles Blue Jays
AL Central White Sox Indians Tigers Twins Royals
AL West Angels Athletics Rangers Mariners
NL East Phillies Mets Braves Marlins Nationals
NL Central Cubs Astros Cardinals Pirates Brewers Reds
NL West Diamondbacks Dodgers Padres Giants Rockies
Ah, why not? Here are my current MLB Post-Season Picks for NEXT October! LOL! HAHAHAHA!
PS- I see the NL winning the All-Star game.
ALDS 1 Angels vs. 4 Red Sox = Red Sox in 5 2 Yankees vs. 3 White Sox = Yankees in 4
NLDS 1 Cubs vs. 3 Phillies = Phillies in 4 2 D’backs vs. 4 Astros = Astros in 4
ALCS Red Sox vs. Yankees = Yankees in 6
NLCS Astros vs. Phillies = Phillies in 5
2009 World Series AL Champ New York Yankees vs. NL Champ Philadelphia Phillies = Yankees in 5
Right now, I got the Yankees winning it all next season. Who’s your EARLY-EARLY-EARLY-EARLY-PRE-WINTER-MEETINGS MLB World Series Pick?
These were my 2008 MLB predictions that I made on April 8, 2008. Let's see how I did! (The teams are in order of predicted placing in the division)
AL East Red Sox Blue Jays Yankees Rays Orioles
AL Central Indians Royals Tigers White Sox Twins
AL West Angels Mariners Athletics Rangers
NL East Mets Phillies Marlins Braves Nationals
NL Central Cubs Pirates Brewers Cardinals Reds Astros
NL West Diamondbacks Padres Rockies Dodgers Giants
Now, keep in mind, I had never made a baseball prediction in my life prior to these, so don't be too harsh.
Here are my original playoff predictions:
AL 1. Red Sox 2. Indians 3. Angels 4. Blue Jays
NL 1. Mets 2. Diamondbacks 3. Cubs 4. Phillies
ALDS 1 Boston Red Sox vs. 3 Los Angeles Angels = Boston in 5 2 Cleveland Indians vs. 4 Toronto Blue Jays = Cleveland in 5
NLDS 1 New York Mets vs. 3 Chicago Cubs = Mets in 4 2 Arizona Diamondbacks vs. 4 Philadelphia Phillies = Philadelphia in 4
ALCS 1 Boston Red Sox vs. 2 Cleveland Indians = Cleveland in 5
NLCS 3 Chicago Cubs vs. 4 Philadelphia Phillies = Philadelphia in 5
World Series AL Champ Cleveland Indians vs. NL Champ Philadelphia Phillies = Philadelphia in 6
PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES 2008 WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS!!!
That was my original prediction back in April for the World Series, and I'm glad to say it's still alive! Yay!
The rest of my picks, eh, not so good. I got 11 right out of 30 for the division seedings. I got 4 right out of 8 possible teams to make the post-season. And finally, I got zero playoff seedings correct. A combined 15 of 46, giving me only a 33% accuracy rating. Ouch. I promise that number will be doubled next year.
Thanks for reading! Take care, and good luck to your team if they made it to the playoffs! If not, then me and you are in the same boat, buddy. My... Poor... Buccos... (sob)
GO STILLERZ! BEAT DA RAVENS TANIGHT ON MUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL!!!
All I have to say about today’s game of Pirates at Diamondbacks is “Wow!” Jeff Karstens is amazing!
He had a prefect game through 8 and 2/3 innings today against Arizona, meaning no runs, no hits, no walks, and no errors.
It cam apart with 2 outs in the 8th inning, but he had Arizona confused for 95% of the game, eventually walking only 1, striking out 4, allowing only 2 hits, no runs, no errors, and pitching a complete game.
This kid has loads of potential, and he is 2-0 since we acquired him from the Yankees in the Nady/Marte deal.
When next season rolls around, you better watch out for this kid, he is absolutely dominant. With him, Paul Maholm, Ian Snell and an increasingly strong bullpen, (Denny Bautista, Yates and Capps) this Pirates team could contend in the NL Central. The offense has what it takes to get the job done versus absolutely anyone. I am not joking. This line-up is terrific. McLouth, Pearce, Mientkiewicz, (who would beat the #### out of Randy Johnson), the LaRoche Bros., Jack, Steady Freddy, Moss, the list goes on, even without Bay and Nady.
Tonight, the Pirates play the Diamondbacks in the 2nd game of the series.
Pitching Match-Up
Pirates Zach Duke (4-9) 5.27 ERA with 57 K's this season
D-Backs Brandon Webb (15-4) 3.04 ERA with 130 K's this season
Low-Down Webb is a worthy candidate for MVP this year, and Duke has not had the year Pirates fans expected.
Key Factor Tonight's key factor willbe the Pirates offense to strike first. If Brandon Webb goes 7 innings, 2 hits, 0 runs on us, then we have no chance.
Prediction D-Backs- 8, Pirates- 2 I don't have much confidence in the Buccos tonight after the loss last night. 8-2 Diamondbacks.
