Donovan McNabb had a great game Sunday, upending the Vegas favorites, the Washignton Redskins. But, that is not what this post is about. This is a weeklong series of blogs I will be doing, brainstorming where McNabb might be headed this off-season, if he decides to leave Philadelphia.
Personally I think Donovan McNabb will be running for his life out of Philly when the off-season comes, especially if the miss the playoffs.
So, I am going to name the first team that will want him, if he decides to try his hand in free agency this off-season.
Team #1:
Chicago Bears
The Bears are in desperate need of a QB. With their playoff chances gone this season, the Bears have already benched Rex Grossman, and started veteran QB Brian Griese, expecting him to fill most, if not all the holes left behind by Grossman's poor offensive style.
Well, turns out, he's not the man for the job, and Lovie doesn't even seem to know that there is a third QB sitting on the sidelines, playing benchwarmer for the "stars". Kyle Orton hasn't had a chance to prove his worth to Coach Smith yet, because Smith doesn't give him a chance. I think that Grossman will end up being cut, Griese will retire, and Orton will be traded or walk away.
So, that leaves the QB spot in Chicago wide open. Now, keep in mind that McNabb is originally from the town of Chciago, IL, so I'm sure he would love to play for his home team.
But, there's still the draft. There's no doubt in my mind that the Bears are gonna go after one of college's top QBs in the draft, like Dennis Dixon (Oregon) or Matt Ryan (Boston College), maybe even Colt Brennan (Hawaii), but the question is, would they still go after a QB in the first round even if they had McNabb locked up and on the team already?
The answer is yes.
McNabb has showed some serious inconsistency, while being a great QB his entire career, the man is injury prone, and don't get me wrong, but when you're playing Chicago, you just want to hit 'em a little harder.
So, McNabb will be a good fit for the team, especially with the current struggle they seem to be facing. I think they still need to go scouting around, and see whihc of the college QBs would be the best fit for Chicago if McNabb goes down.
Thanks for reading! Please keep checking, as tomorrow, I will discuss another city McNabb may be headed. Please leave a comment! Have a great day!
