Billionaire Chairman of Duquesne Management, Stanley Druckenmiller, is a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and apparently thinks he can run the team.
Druckenmiller is asking Chairman of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Dan Rooney for majority ownership of the team.
Druckenmiller has also said that if the bidding is opened to the public, then he will withdraw his offer.
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette writer, Gerry Dulac, says that those close to Druckenmiller know the man’s intent:
“His intent is to buy the shares,” Dulac said in an interview with KDKA TV 2-Pittsburgh reporter, John Shumway. “whether all or a portion, but enough to have majority control of the Steelers and to buy the shares of the other four Rooney brothers.”
Art Rooney, Jr. had only one comment on the story, and shared it with John Shumway:
“Never count Dan out; he knows how to negotiate. Dan’s a great Pittsburgher, a good guy, and he’s Mr. Steeler. He is a phenomenal operator, and don’t be surprised if things work out his way.”
I wouldn’t mind seeing Druckenmiller with 49% of the stakes. I never want to have one guy out of the Rooney family with more than 49% of the team. Druckenmiller a Pittsburgh boy, from what I know, and paints his face Black & Gold when attending Steelers games. I think Dan Rooney will be bale to work out something so that Druckenmiller is not majority owner, but the largest shareholder.
Let me hear your thoughts on this story. Take care!
Cedrick Wilson was cut from the Pittsburgh Steelers today just hours after an assault on his girlfreind, Lindsey Paulat.
She claims he pushed her, then hit her in the face!
That is absolutely NOT acceptable behavior for a Steeler, and I'm glad Dan Rooney thinks so:
"We are extremely disappointed with this incident. The Pittsburgh Steelers do not condone violence of any kind, especially against a woman."
So, in the past week there have been two assault charges filed against to different Steelers players. James Harrison last week, and Cedrick Wilson this week.
I doubt that Harrison will get cut, and I doubt any team would cut him after a season like he had in 2007, even if it is for domestic violence.
So, Mr. Rooney, this post is to call you out! I'm sorry I had to do this, but nobody else will, and it must be done!
Cut James Harrison!
I don't care who you are, you ARE NOT gonna disgrace my favorite team!
Dan, if you do not cut Harrison, I will be forced to assume that you are a hypocrite, and that your statment should look like this:
"We are extremely disappointed with this incident. The Pittsburgh Steelers do not condone violence of any kind, especially against a woman, unless you are a very good player."
I am asking you, please, for the dignity of the organization, cut him! You cannot let moral standards your father set over 75 years ago be thrown to the wayside because the player happens to be pretty good! Do it. Today would be best, because then you know for sure what to take in the draft.
Besides, James Farrior, Larry Foote, Lawrence Timmons, and Lamarr Woodley sounds like a pretty good LB lineup to me.
Do it, Dan. Please. The criminals in the AFC North are supposed to play for CincinnAttica.
Fuzzboss, blue&orange, thesupposedbuckles, and other Steelers fans around the site! What do you think of all this?
