The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had the best passing defense last year, letting by only 170.5 yards per game through the air. With that kind of stat, wouldn’t you want to upgrade your 17th ranked rushing defense, which let by 107.9 yards per game.
I have a problem wiht the Bucs dealings in the past week.
First, they didn't do enough to get the best pass rusher in the NFL, Jared Allen, who also would have greatly decreased the yards allowed on the ground average for the Buccaneers as well.
Second, they draft a CB who admitted to using weed during college to..... what? I haven't a cue why he was drafted here, in my opinion, other teams could have used him more.
And besides, there are still some great DLs available, like Kentwan Balmer and Philip Merling.
Whatever you want Gruden, but I think you're making the wrong decision.

This may well be the reason why scientists believe that there's intelligent life force on Mars. 'cause there's certainly none in the Bucs' front office. You're always getting the same nonesensical sound byte from either Gruden or Allen. They'll state to you that they're interested in getting the best possible free agents available but then they end settling for something worth much less.
For them instead of shopping at Saks of Fifth Ave. They'd settle for a purchase at the local swap meet.
The NFL's answer to Abbott & Costello ....Jon Gruden and Bruce Allen. The only thing is that they're less funnier than the aforementioned duo.
its true that bruce hasnt done much for the franchise as far as bringin in quality drafts, but the players we drafted have the potential of being key players, josh johnson just might show everyone he can be a franchise QB, WE GOT THE DIVISION!!!!!

And that's predicated on what ? We've seen how the Bucs have gone about picking up qb's through the draft. And to date not one of 'em has panned out. Garcia is getting old and the Bucs are just an injury away to regressing back to being a mkediocre team once again. Their picks may well pan out but having seen the Michael Clayton experiment go up in smoke. The two wheels already fall off the Cadillac they can ill afford to make anymore blunders. As to the NFC South being sewn up. There's bigger fish out there to fry this upcoming season . So don't count your chickens before they're hatched. Else everyone'll be railin' on Gruden and Bruce Allen's #### and deservedly so !

Greenspire good evening sir, at first I would totally agree with your post. I felt robbed whenever I saw The Bucs pass up on Devin Thomas, but as the draft went on I saw the big picture and the Bucs had a great draft, one of the best in a while....Cory Boyd was a steal in the 7th...Tophatel is a good name for you homie!! Looking forward for a good post on the Bucs from you Greenspire...Peace

1. Aqib Talib CB 6-1 206 Kansas In 34 games at Kansas, Talib started 32 contests. He produced 162 tackles (126 solos) with 9.5 stops for losses of 19 yards and one quarterback pressure. He recovered two fumbles, advancing one six yards and also had a pair of forced fumbles. He deflected 43 passes and amassed 322 yards with two touchdowns on 13 interception returns (24.8-yard average). He hauled in nine passes for 224 yards (24.9 avg) and five scores, returned two punts for 21 yards (10.5 avg) and carried once for a 6-yard loss
2. Dexter Jackson WR/KR 5-9 182 Appalachian State A member of the Appalachian State squad that stunned Michigan, and a flat-out burner. Really showed out in the combine, tremendous speed and great hands.
3. Jeremy Zuttah OG 6-3 295 Rutgers Zuttah shot up draft boards after a mind-blowing combine performance in which he ran a sub 5.0 40. Tampa picks up a kid with great potential at OT.
4. Dre Moore DL 6-4 311 Maryland Another guy who was pegged as a late second round/early third round pick slipping all the way to the mid-fourth round. An All-ACC selection last season, the 305-pound beast is considered one of the stronger players in this

5. Josh Johnson QB 6-2 201 San Diego Johnson threw 42 touchdowns last season for San Diego and just one interception. Even in smaller division these stats are amazing. Great Running QB as well
6. Geno Hayes ILB 6-2 220 Florida State Derrick Brooks gets a fellow 'Nole to tutor down in Tampa. Hayes follows recent FSU linebackers Buster Davis, Ernie Sims, and Lawrence Timmons as NFL draft choices. He could be a sound linebacker in the Tampa-2.
7. Cory Boyd RB 6-0 218 South Carolina A do-everything back for South Carolina, Boyd bounced back from a suspension in 2005 to have two solid years for the Gamecocks. After 1,293 and 1,308 seasons, he's proven he can carry the rock.

Rainman 863 Obviously a Polk Co resident no doubt ? Possibly an avid Bucs' fan also.
Gruden and Allen'll have their work cut out for themselves this season. As they'll have to prove that last season's success was by no means a fluke. The franchise has become all too inconsistent since the Superbowl win. There'll be only so much that the fans and the Glazers'll be able to take. So management and the team had better get things going in the right direction. Of their picks there doesn't seem to be a potential game breaking playmaker at all. Just a semblance of reliable players and not really any of 'em stands out. None in particular that'd make you wanna' sit up and take notice. Not even Josh Johnson the QB !
If you recall, Warren Sapp had a little issue with pot early in his career as well. Say what you want about him, but while with the Bucs, he was dominant.
Gruden must be an offensive master-mind. I can't wait to see the play that calls for the 7th string QB. Keep Garcia, Greise and Johnson. Super Bowl QBs at one time play for TB (Williams, Young, Dilfer) they should use that as an advertisement on the others.
We added a cornerback who will team up with the number 1 defense who will score touchdowns on both sides of the ball. Dex Jackson will score on punt and kickoffs as will as being a back up reciver with Galloway type speed .We Resigned are key players as will as picked up some decent free agents . And signed a free agent reciver who will be a star in the near future from usf
