Hello, FOX Sorts Bloggers! As you may or may not know, my hometwon is Pittsburgh, PA. I love that city so much, and we Pittsburghers take great pride in our sports!
So, for the next couple of weeks, we will be voting for the best Pittsburgh Sports Icon in history!
I want you to give me your Top 16 players, commentators, coaches, owners, landmarks, mascots, etc. involved in PGH Sports History!
Get going! The field will be set next week! We already have 60 VOTES!
If you have already voted, try not to vote again, but I'm not gonna get on your case about it. Hint, hint.
While I have a few, my favorite is Terry Bradshaw. He had a great yet unappreciated pro career( I would like to have seen ANY other QB outscore those Dallas teams of the seventies).
He doesn't complain about the lack of recognition and he's had a very successful career in both broadcasting and in the movies.
Terry also has represented the Steeler organization off the field, in a very professional manner.
After Bradshaw, I will have to go with Mario,Myron,Roberto,Swann,Webster,M arino,Stargell,
Lambert,Mike Rozier(Pittsburgh Maulers).

Wow, Greenspire that is a tall task. You can say any number of Steelers: Bradshaw, Harris, Mean Joe, the Rooneys themselves, Lambert, the Bus, and Big Ben is certainly getting there. Choosing between Willie and Roberto is a tough choice. But I go with Mario Lemieux. You can make an arguement over that no athlete has ever done as much for his team and city as Mario. He was a tremendous player on the ice, but what he did off of it is what sets him apart. The fact that he bought the team after he circled into the financial abyss, fought tooth and nail to keep them here, and finally got a new arena plan to keep the Pens here. Not to mention all the charity he does for cancer research. That is why I am giving my vote to No. 66.
On the announcer side of things, got have the Big 3: Myron, The Gunner Bob Prince, and Mike Lange. I guess you could say all the people I mentioned in my first post would count towards my sixteen as well.
Fuzz- No, not stuffing the ballot box, just trying to get more votes. So yeah, stuffing the ballot box. J/K! I'm really just trying to get this more across the site, so more people know about it.
Thanks for voting everyone! Dang, we might have a field of 32 from all the different answers we have got!
Remember, I have counted Dan Marino as a Pittsburgh Sports Icon! That means if you can come up with other Pittsburgh sports icons that never actually played for Pittsburgh, I will count them.
Mike I had mike webster as one of my favorite players on my post RIP MIke and I don't see an Indians vote button because thats whos winning the World Series I think theres some bias going on here' Have a great Easter Mike !!!!!!!
No, no bias. I would have the Buccos up there, but oh well. The Indians would fall under other, I guess. I don't see them winning the division in 2008. I pick the Tigers.
Myron Cope, Art Rooney, "mean" Joe Green, Terry Bradshaw, Mario Lemieux, Arnold Palmer, Bill Cowher, Chuck Noll, Bill Mazeroski, Tony Dorsett, Jaromir Jagr, Ben Roethlisberger, Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Andrew McCutchen, Roberto Clemente, Willie "we are famalee" Stargell, Franco Harris, Bill Hillgrove, Jamie Dixon, Dan Marino, Lynn Swann, Louis Lipps, Honus Wagner, Chris Fum'atu Ma'afaala( did i spell that right? )and the best of all Jerome "The Bus" Bettis
Thank you
