Tonight’s Stanley Cup Finals Game 2 winner will most likely be the one who goes on and wins the series. The Penguins need this one if they want any sort of momentum heading back to the ’Burgh.
I said yesterday that I believe the Pens will win this game, 3-2, and then win both games in Pittsburgh, with a combined score of 6-3 over the Red Wings.
The Pens key for the game is to get aggressive early. Crosby or Malkin need to score in the first 10 minutes if they want any sort of edge.
Detroit fans are the most obnoxious in the country. Whenever things are going good, they rub it in the face of their opponents. Whenevr things are going bad, they jump on a bandwagon and claim to be a lifelong fan of that team.
Detroit is the fakest city of sports and sports fans in the United States.
Hi Greenspiere,
I'm rooting for the Penguins and they Have amazing young talent with Crosby, Malkin, Fleury and Hossa but the Red Wings to a large extent have been here before so as I've said with the Spurs in the NBA championship form can prevail. Nice post and I'll say the Wings in 5 or 6. Give the Pens and Crosby etc a few years. Wayne Gretzky and the Oilers didn't win the Stanley Cup the first time either. Nice post Mike. Best wishes. fenfan
Mike, Mike, Mike...people like you give hockey fans a bad rep. Any TRUE hockey fan appreciates any good team. You spewing your hatred of Wings fans is the very same thing you blame us for...shame on you. The Pens have a very talented young team...but I believe experience will win out in the end. It's the Stanley Cup Finals....the best time of year. Go Wings!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA..you are a MOR.ON!!
Good prediction, keep calling it for them, I enjoy shut-outs! The Pens are done..stick a needle in them and hang them out to dry! Lord Stanley's Cup is coming back to HOCKEYTOWN!!

And how is Cherry a hater?? He has been around the block more than your mom, and he not only played but coached. I put money on his word over yours any day! You only spew your vomit, and have no basis for anything you claim as facts. Enjoy your team, all I have to say is at least our team has a MAN as captain and not a little cry-baby.
So by your own words.. you concede to the Red Wings now? They won game two, so the Red Wings will most likely be the one who goes on and wins the series?
Or are you retracting that now? Has it changed to the Red Wings simply held serve? Maybe the refs are terrible and you can blame them?
Detroit fans are great fans, and ALL teams have bandwagon fan's... or do you forget that 5 years ago there were a lot of empty seats during the Pen's home game's? We welcome our new fans with open arms bandwagon or not!!

What everyone ought to be concerned with is the ineptitude shown by the Penguins. The series has been nowhere near competitive as many felt that it would be. Sid the Kid has had no one supporting him at all. He's not the second coming of Lemieux by any stretch of the imagination.
Crosby ' Sid the Kid

"or do you forget that 5 years ago there were a lot of empty seats during the Pen's home game's?"
5 years ago? try this year... They weren't able to fill the house earlier this year... Talk about your bandwagon fans... They didn't show up this year until they started winning...
Say what you want about the Wings having trouble selling tickets, then take a look at ANY other team's ticket sales... You will be humbled
And the Wings fans are the ones responsible for the TV numbers...
They are the only ones with the will power to hunt down the Vs channel, insist that thier local cable provider add it to thier system, and pay an extra $5 a month to watch a bunch of announcers they hate!
How'd you like that shutout Mike, was it good? Sure was for me. See Mike, I may be "arrogant", but my teams back it up. We are absolutely dominating the Penguins, and will continue to do so.
C19- No, I don't think the Pens will win the Stanley Cup this year anymore. If I were to bet money now, and I wanted money, it would have to be on the Wings, sadly.
The point you bring up is completely different than the one I had. 5 years ago the Penguins had a worse than losing record and nobody on their team that would sell out a crowd like Crosby does. For some reason, Wings fans didn't show up to their Game 1 in the West Finals, despite having 66 regular season wins. That says something about loyalty.
rampant- It won't be our last trip here.
AAAAARRRRGGG- Somewhere in the middle of the season, we sold out 32 straight games, so I don't know where you got that from.
Hah! My grandfather actually did that this past month because his satelite wasn't getting it for some reason. $5 is a small price to pay to watch the Pens win, he said.
I would say that to your face, all you stupid Pens fans make me laugh. You all cry when they lose, blame the refs, and then try to go back and say well I didn't really mean that..they will win next year! lol
And for the record Big Ben Rottenburger and the Steelers are a joke too!! Seriously, you should have picked teams that could win outside of their weak division (and Eastern Conference).
When have you ever heard that? If the game was straight, then I give the opponent credit. But if the ref was clearly biast, I'll let him have it. That hasn't had to happen since I've been watchign them.
Get lost. Jokes don't win championships. If you are also a Lions fan, you'll know what I'm talking about.
Greenspire- You know nothing about the economy in Michigan. You also know nothing about what having a consistantly great team does to ticket prices. We are as loyal as any hockey fans AND there are more of us than any other teams fans.
When the choice is between taking your family to a single playoff game or on a nice vacation, which would you pick. We spend the money on plasma screen TVs, Vs. or the NHL network and we scare the neighbors with each goal scored by the Wings.
I try not to be mean, or let my comments get too personal, but when you make a blanket statement about all Wings fans I feel the need to let you know that you are NOT a writer for FOX Sports as your bio states. You are a blogger, the same as I could be and the same as many Wings fans are.
I don't need to know anything about the economy in Michigan to know that that is what I heard from several friends of mine who are Red Wings fans. It was also on the local news station, they were talking to the fans, and they were saying something about econmoics playing a part in whether they go or not. Personally, I thought that was bullcrap.
Oh, and I do know the economy in Michigan is going to figuratively kill everyone there sooner or later.
