Well, it's time for Part 2 of the Pretenders or Contenders for surprise teams at this oint in the season.
Yesterday, I covered the Minnesota Vikings situation. Read that, as well, please.
Who do we have now? Oh! Here we go!
Detroit Lions
The Lions are off to a surprising 4-2 start, breaking last season's total win record, of 3.
Prior to the start of the pre-season, QB Jon Kitna guaranteed at least 10 wins for the Lions this season, and you know what, that looks more and more possible. He looks really good at the QB position, minus all of the sacks. The offensive line just needs to pull it together, and they will be a much better passing team, even better than they are now.
Tatum Bell has finally been benched, and the Lions have gone with their veteran RB, Kevin Jones. This is the absolute right move by the Lions. Bell wa shaving too much trouble hanging onto the ball, and now that Jones is taking the hand-offs, the running game will see alot more action, and will take some of the pressure off of Kitna.
Roy Williams and Calvin Johnson are two very remarkable receivers, and the fact that Kitna has two great targets to throw to is a great thing for the Lions. These guys wil both get well over 1,000 yards receiving this season.
The Bears are not looking liek division champs to me, but this is an extremely hard division to read. The Packers are a little questionable to me at this point, and the Vikings are hard to understand about where they are right now.
Well, I like the way Detroit rolls, but I also have to be realistic, so for now these guys are:
I agree Mike that they are pretenders. Calvin Johnson is good and will be great someday. Thing is we are still talking about the Lions. A team that Historicaly has been as bad as the Cardinals. Good post and keep them comeing. Checkout my new post of the Saints and there back to back wins. Thx mike and always enjoy your work.
well Mike, where can i reach you cause someone hates me out there everytime i make a Profile/Blog im reported so if anyone wants to get a hold of me or wanna talk football... im at
oh and just let everyone know...they won by luck if you were payin attention.. the Bucs have the ball 1st and goal on the 1 yard line the ball get snapped wrong and its fumbled...
so the score should have been Tampa Bay Buccaneers 24 - 23....
I don't think Green Bay is as good as their record indicates, although I'm not sure who they have played. Detroit seems to have overcome Matt Millen's ineptitude at GM.
d?ve, could have would have should have, stop crying. you couldnt stop the big man from penetrating all day and he gave you guys some good licks to cause those fumbles. and a 32 yd run from johnson sealed your fate. even the love the refs gave you didnt help. just accept it, you lost. GO LIONS
Dave- so good to see you again! Glad you are back!
OSL- Thanks for stopping by!
Navydocret06- I think he has accepted that they lost, in fact he states it in his comment. The Bucs did look stellar in that game, and if the game was in Tampa, there is no doubt in my mind that the Bucs would have won.
