Kyle Busch - driving for the dogs!
Jun 05, 2008 | 10:36PM | report this

As you may know, one of Kyle Busch's sponsors is Pedigree Dog Food. He is an avowed dog lover himself, and actually has a pair of West Highland Terriers. This year (from May to November) he is helping to raise money for shelter dogs.

In conjunction with Pedigree Dog Food, Kyle Busch is participating in a program called Kyle's Miles Program.  You can donate $1.00 per mile driven by Kyle Busch. It can be for as many miles as you want. This will also enter your name for a chance to meet Kyle Busch at the Phoenix race this fall.

Since Kyle has been driving so well lately...this could add up to some sizeable donations for the dogs. Even if you are not a Kyle Busch fan, it is good to see the NASCAR stars support something that is close to their heart.

For additional information you may click on the link below to the Pedigree website.

Also...if you truly love dogs, you may want to get a copy of "Pit Road Pets" published in 2006 by the Ryan Newman Foundation. It is a great coffee table book featuring many NASCAR stars and their pets.

Nice Blog .. it's too bad that you just don't realize that Kyle (JUGHEAD) Busch might love dogs, but he sure drives like something that comes OUT of a dog !!

Nice post Gerrel!

I know it must really bother some people that Kyle is just as human as the rest of us. He just happens to be a very talented driver beyond being a good person.

Thanks again!

For Racinginsider,

You can't answer your critics on your own blog... So now you spread your sickness onto other's blogs. You really are a piece of work.

It is great that there are NASCAR drivers who give back.
Even those who have a Bad Boy image like Tony and Kyle.
Too bad we have so called fans here who refuse to see any good through there hate filled hearts.

Gerrel- A dollar per mile would really add up! Great cause for the pets...Newman and Biffle are the other two that really support animals. Remember Biffle gave his burn-out championship money from the All Star weekend to build a no kill shelter.

Hey, thanks, Gerrel. I enjoy reading about the 'outside' activities of drivers.

Kyle's Public Relations department Sure has been busy of late.. LOL. Even if ya hate the guy for being and a-ss any time he opens his mouth, his success on the track definitely is translating into marketing dollars.

Marketability is worth a LOT more than integrity today. Lets hope this money makes it to the Doggies that need it. I live in a small town and we have way too many strays without good homes. Can only imagine how some of the big cities are.

RacingInsider - Thanks for commenting..but I disagree with your statement about Kyle's driving style. While I am not a fan of his, I will admit his gutsy driving style has given the fans much discussion on the blogs this year.

Dwindy- It is nice to see another side of the drivers off the track. And yeah...it is sometimes annoying that he is such a talented driver, and keeps on winning. But that's part of the fun of NASCAR.

Elad - yes, it warms your heart to see the drivers give their time to charitable causes, no matter how you view their performance on the track.

Hotfoot, Volfan - Glad to see you pop in here. I am on the Pedigree email list, and heard of this from the company. You can register your dog and they send you periodic emails on dog care and on their products.

KLV - I was reading the small print on the rules, and if you donate $1 for every mile completed during the promotion...you would be donating $10,473.00, IF Kyle completes all the laps in each race. Of course most of us cant afford that, so you can sponsor a set number of laps.

Hanahan - Yep Kyle is Top Dog in a lot of people's books...expecially in JGR racing.

Cuda - You nailed it on Kyle's PR dept being busy.

I live in a mid size town...about 23,000. And while I have never seen any stray dogs around here, there are occaisional stray cats, and lots of wildlife. There are of course many animal shelters in the Chicago area that have animals looking for a permanent home.

Gerrel,
This made me think of my first blog, which I had lots of fun doing. I've gone back and updated it a little since then. Check it out! http://community.foxsports.com/blog

RA6AN - I just revisited your blog. And now I remember all those funny dog/driver photos. The new additions are cute also. I see you are a dog lover too. My avatar is of my current dog, her name is Bonnie and she is a Beagle.

Dwindy: Well put.

Gerrell:

This is a good cause. It would break you heart if you were to go to a SPCA shelter and see what is dropped off at the shelter some times. Some of the dogs are so abused that most have to be put to sleep due to uncaring owners abuse.

Photo - While I have not been to an animal shelter, I do like to donate to humane, wildlife and environmental causes. I have seen some heartbreaking literature from some of the Humane Society's and It's hard to believe that there are some really crazy people out there.

I have something in common with Kyle BUSCH? HOLY CRIPES! Beavernut is holding his head! I had Westies and they are a hoot... I wonder if his Westies and mine were related as I also grew up in Las Vegas and introduced Westies to the Poodle mongers there in 1970!

BN - You are too funny! Actually if you get the book "Pit Road Pets" featuring NASCAR stars and the pets....Kyle Busch is one of the drivers featured with his two dogs. That is how I knew he had Westies. They are rather cute little fellows. His brother Kurt Busch is featured in the book also...although he has a Cairn Terrier.

Yep Cairns are the older breed that Westies came from...the white puppies were once destroyed ;o(. They are a lot of fun and quite like clowns...very funny personalities and no wet dog smell....or oily hair smells...and pound for pound they are ferocious. Mine at 10 took on a German Shepherd, and nearly died doing it...and the funny part was the Shepherd owner thought I should pay his vet bills when his dog jumped off a balcony to get at mine on the ground in front of my house. Go figure! I had two, Duffy and Popper. Sigh!

gerrel - Yes the Vet asked me if I had told him he was 10 and should not be picking fights...and what made it strange was Duffy was a really sweet dog except around other males and children who ran at him. I nearly put a German Shepherd down that day! Watch my avatar change to see a Westie pup soon ;o)

Gerrel, I did not know this. Since my older dog does not eat Pedigree food, I did not know that Pedigree and Kyle were teaming up to raise money for the dogs.

But we just got a new little one, in the household, and she likes her Pedigree. So I might have to check it out. Thanks for the link and the info.

Tsfan - Yeah, I only knew about this because I am on the Pedigree mailing list. I just started going thru the blogs tonight, and saw your story on the new Pom in your family....congrats on the puppy!
