In light of all the excitement this past week with the IRL/CCWS unification, I wanted to share some information with everyone. On Sunday, June 1st, the IRL will be racing at the Milwaukee Mile in Wisconsin. To celebrate the unification, they have an exciting offer for all fans who wish to purchase tickets to this race during the month of March 2008.
Basically the tickets are specially priced at 2 for 1. The tickets that are offered are priced $40 to $50 depending on which section you select.
I have attended this race almost every year since 1983. The racing is close and competitive, as the track is only 1/2 mile in length. The speeds are typically in the 170 mph range in recent years. You can see the entire track from your seat. And also see all the pitstops. They have done a lot of upgrades to the grandstands and track in the last 5 years. it is located in the Wisconsin State Fair Park grounds in the suburb of West Allis, WI.
If you have yet to see an IRL race, and live in the upper Midwest area...this would be a terrific opportunity. You will not be disappointed. The track is easy to get to and located directly off the interstate (route 94).
Here is the special link to the website for the discounted tickets:
Gerrel - If I win the lottery, I get in my jet and fly over to see it. I said in the past post comments this is exciting racing when they are on a avols. Nice job.
You have no idea how much I would love to go to that race. SE TN is too far, though. I hope you go and have a good time. If you go, take pics and share with us please. Thanks for the info.
Forensic - Would be great to see you at Milwaukee. Do they have lotto tickets in the UK?
volfan - SE Tenn would be quite a haul. We used to go to Bristol for about 10 yrs, and it was 12 hrs from Chicago. Milwauke is another 1 1/2 hours from there. We get tickets every year...and had renewed them last fall.
Iowa - I hope they sell more tickets also since the unification. This track has not had a sellout the last few years. Although to be fair they more than doubled the seating when they reconfigured the grandstands several years ago. The seating is still less than the Chicagoland Speedway. This track is older than Indianapolis, and really needed an update. So now they just need to sell more tickets.
FROM OHIO THATS JUST A HOP SKIP AND JUMP UNFORTUNATLY IM NOT THAT BIG OF AN OPEN WHEEL FAN BUT HEY I COULD ALWAYS COME FOR SOME OF THAT GOOD MILLWALKEE BEER..
Joker - Yep, it's not that far from Ohio. And yes...there's beer here. But, if you really enjoy some cold brews, you should consider coming over (vacation maybe) for the Wisconsin State Fair. It runs for 10 days in the beginning of August, and not only is there a lot of food, but lots of brew on tap, including a micro brew tent. I have gone there every year with my husband since 1983, and it's one of the things I look forward to each year.
Photo - Good to see you back here. It will be interesting to see how many and how well all the additional IRL teams play out in the opening IRL weekend at Homestead Miami at the end of March. So far most of the existing CCWS teams are planning to participate in the IRL events this season.
This is a promotion you will never see at a NASCAR race. Glad that the IRL/Champ got this deal worked out. Maybe now, NASCAR will have some competition and they will follow suit and lower their ticket prices.
What happened: Sorry, I must have dozed off. I was thinking NASCAR would actually lowe their ticket prices.
Yeah that must have been what it was. Because like you said, there will be no decrease in NASCAR prices. They will continue to go UP, UP, and UP!!! lol
Longtime auto racing fan from the mid 1980's, I attend about 9 race weekends each year between Indy 500 qualification s, IRL and NASCAR races in the Midwest area.
