4 years and $24 million...Wow! that's a whole lot of money for a coach who hasn't proven anything except that he can't coach in a half court set.
I'm not happy at all with this deal, for one huge reason...the NY Knicks do not need a high wire act...they need a make over!!! Walsh has made the first move in what can prove to be a very long 4 years. I'm a life long Knicks fan and i know that first of all we need to define the direction of the franchise. Are we going to rebuild? If so, then around who? we have so many jacked up contracts and jacked up players...we have zero chemistry, and no floor leader. we have tired ,overpaid and lazy players (yeah Eddy Curry...i'm comin at you!)...and what in the world has D'Antoni shown us as far as dealing with that type of atmosphere? NOTHING except that when the #### hits the fan, he can run like Flo Jo in the 88 olympics!
I'm not sold on him as coach at all....not even close! He can't take criticism, so what will he do when the NY media gets to unloading on his coaching skills and decisions? D'Antoni...time to strap on your vest!
the Spurs have consitently exposed his inability to coach a functioning defense. he showed us all this last season that his developmental skills are non-existent, having had a rotation of 8 players tops for the majority of the season. Sure his offense came with some excitement for Phoenix, but take it from me, NY don't want excitement...they want a winner!!!
I don't care what anyone says....when things get hot, he's gonne get to running like keenan Ivory Wayans in "I'm Gonna Get You Sucka", hollering out "...they shootin....they shootin".

Perhaps D'Antoni is of the opinion that he can bring something to this team that Thomas hasn't ?
Personally I think that it's a money grab more than anything else on his path.
This guy had a choice between coaching the Bulls a far better team on paper than the Knicks. And he chose to ply his trade in New York ?
That tells me that his basketball IQ has dropped precipitously in the last few years. Either that or he's been drinking too much of the Kool-Aid.
I'm afraid your right, I don't like the Knicks' decision on this one either. The Knicks don't have the talent to support his style of play and that would mean pulling off a bunch of wholesale deals with what teams? Mark Jackson would've made more sense, being a NY native, former Knick and having respectable knowledge for the game.
The NY media will have D'antoni for breakfast, lunch and dinner!
I'm doing end of season interviews in foxmail for as many teams as I can. I already have people for Lakers, Spurs, Hornets, Pistons, Magic, Cavs, Raptors, Sixers and I think that's it.
Would you be willing to let me send you 10 questions about the Knicks and you get your own graphic (you can see examples on my blog) and feature interview on my blog during the finals.

If watching D'Antoni is your idea of seeing the Knicks implement his run and gun offense is actually fun. Then we're going to be in for a wail of a time.
It'll be like watching a stand up routine of Andrew Dice Clay but the Knicks would be even funnier.
The bigger obscenity would be watching the Knicks rather than Andrew Dice Clay.
thanks for the support....i'm going to need therapy after this season. i would imagine that anything has to be an improvement over Isaiah, but i wouldn't be simply looking to improve. i would want my team to go in a positive direction that help us in the long term.
GameStormC2C I hear that the first thing on D'Antoni's agenda will be to take the Knicks' roster and have 'em sit down with Dr Phil. His analysis of the team may well go along way in assessing why it that they're so damn bad !
Not that we need Dr Phil to tell us that do we ?
Look guys tell me when did you start having these feelings of inadequacy and self doubt ?
We're not inadequate we're men and we've got balls to prove it.
