It only took a #### poor shooting performance , timmy d in foul trouble and some good old fashioned home cooking late in the 4th to make it seem like a game ... but all for nothing .. bottom line ..cavs down 0 - 3 ... what was floppy mcflopperson thinking on that shot are you kidding me ?? oh man .. lol. oh btw that last shot by bron .. yes it was a foul but no way that would have ever been in the act of shooting bron took 2 - 3 steps after the foul and launched it .. the foul would have been two shots not three .. he was still dribbling when the foul occured and still in the process of making his move he was not in the act of shooting .

FINALLY AFTER ABOUT 25 MINS AFTER IT HAPPEND AND THE AMBULANCE WAS CALLED THEY ARRIVED THEY LOADED ME INTO THE AMBULANCE AND STARTED AN IV DRIP AND GAVE ME SOME GOOD #### DRUGS LOL THAT WOULD PROVE TO BE THE BEST PART OF MY DAY .. THEY RUSHED ME INTO THE HOSPITAL ADMITTED ME AND TOOK SOME X - RAYS WHILE I WAITED FOR THE ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON .. THE X - RAYS SHOWED THAT I HAD INDEED BROKE MY ANKLE IN 3 PLACES ON BOTH SIDES AND IN THE FRONT BUT ALSO TORE SOME TENDONS AND LIGAMENTS AS WELL . THEY SET IT AND PUT ME IN AN AIR CAST .. THE NEXT DAY I WAS SECHULED TO HAVE SURGERY .. THEY WHEELED ME IN THE OPERATION TOOK 2 HOURS THEY PUT A METAL PLATE AND 6 SCREWS IN .. I WENT THROUGH 8 MONTHS OF REHAB BEFOR I COULD WALK RIGHT AGAIN TO THIS DAY I STILL HAVE SCARS AND STILL I DONT WALK AS WELL AS I DID BEFOR.
SINCE THEN I HAVE HAD OTHER HEALTH PROBLEMS THAT HAVE ROBBED ME OF THE JOY OF PLAYING THE GAME I LOVED SO MUCH BEFOR THE FOOTBALL ACCIDENT I COULD PLAY BASKETBALL FOR HOURS AT A TIME I WOULD PLAY FOR 3 - 5 HOURS AT A TIME AND HARDLEY GOT TIRED AND I HAD SUCH A PASSION FOR IT ALL GUYS HAVE HAD THAT TIME WHEN YOU'RE IN A GAME AND YOU'RE IN THE ZONE AND YOU CAN'T MISS AND EVERYTHING IS CLICKING.. OH MAN NOTHING ON EARTH BEATS THAT RUSH YOU GET WHEN YOU'RE IN THAT ZONE I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW DEPRESSED I GET KNOWING MORE THEN LIKELY I'LL NEVER EXPEREINCE THAT AGAIN IN MY LIFE THAT ALL I HAVE IS THE MEMORIES.
THROUGH THE YEARS I HAVE HAD AN EYE SURGERY THAT WENT WRONG WHERE I WAS LEFT BLIND IN MY LEFT EYE I HAD TO ADJUST TO THAT MY DEPTH PERCEPTION WAS THROWN WAY OFF AND TOOK ME ABOUT A MONTH TO ADJUST .. IN 05 I HAD OPEN HEART SURGERY AT THE UNIVERSTY OF MICHIGAN HOSPITAL TO REMOVE WHAT DOCTORS BELIEVED TO BE EITHER IT WAS A TUMOR OR A BLOOD CLOT TO THIS DAY THERE STILL NOT SURE THE CARDIO VASCULAR DOCTORS SAID IT WAS A BLOOD CLOT BUT THE ONCOLOGIST'S SAID IT WAS A TUMOR THEY DID A BIOPSY AND THEY STILL COULDNT TELL FOR SURE .. ANYWAY THEY REMOVED IT AND DID SOME OTHER WORK AS WELL I SPENT 3 1/2 WEEKS THERE WITH ABOUT A MONTH RECOVERY TIME AT HOME .. LOL I HAVE THE SCAR TO PROVE THAT ALSO .. ADD THAT TO BEING OVERWEIGHT AND HAVING SEVERE ASTHMA WHERE MY LUNGS BURN FROM DOING SIMPLE THINGS AND JUST GETING OLDER AND YOU CAN SEE WHY I FEEL THE WAY I DO. Posted June 03, 2007 01:25 AM It’s been ages since I’ve gone all out and made a legit and substantial thread on our “beloved” Detroit Pistons. I figured now would be a good time to get back in the swing of things. So, here’s how this is going to shake out. I’m not going to suggest that the team gets blown up. I’m not going to yell “Fire Flip” without a legit alternative option. I’m not going to throw at you some ridiculous Kobe trade threads. I am, however, going to breakdown the Pistons salary situation, their draft pick situation, and their current personnel, coming to an ultimate conclusion as to what will happen from here on out. My goal is to get this thread as a central place for the banter that will be coming in the next couple days, but without the ridiculousness that has already seeped into the boards.

To me, this is relatively simple, especially now that the Pistons obviously did not win the ‘ship. First, Dale Davis, au revoir. You were appreciated, and probably under-utilized. However, the state of this team cannot warrant a contract offer. Enjoy where ever life takes you. Amir Johnson played enough to show that he’s got potential, but didn’t play enough to get any unreal contracts. Good for the Pistons. I would expect a Jason Maxiell-like offer to go to Amir, 2+ years at 1.5+ Mil. Hopefully he takes it. Chris Webber is an interesting situation. I’ll get back to him. Of the player options, Chauncey will obviously opt out. The question is, will Joe pay him. The answer is yes. Chauncey played god-awful this series. Pathetic, even. However, there is no way you can adequetly replace him. This doesn’t rule out a sign and trade, however, which I’ll get to later. Antonio McDyess has an option for 6+ Mil. He takes it in a heartbeat, forcing the Pistons into a tough situation. Expect McDyess to be around for the start of the season, with trade possibilities. Flip Murray doesn’t seem to like his situation, and I would expect that he opts out and the Pistons choose not to pursue. So, back to the Webber situation. Alot of this has to do with what Jomars will do with Nazr Mohammed. The best situation, it would appear, is that Joe is somehow able to move Nazr. Heck, I would consider a buy out at this point. We don’t want him, he doesn’t want to be here. However, we need to do anything possible to move him. That said, we may see Chris Webber return to the Pistons, despite what just about everybody wants. That is, if he is willing to accept a bench role. More on that later. Will is doubtful to return with the Pistons holding two first round picks, one almost guaranteed to go to a point guard.
So right now we are looking at.....
Departures: Will Blalock, Dale Davis, Flip Murray
Non-Expiring Contract Issues
As I said, Joe will be looking to do everything in his power to move Nazr Mohammed. Someone like, GASP, Cleveland, may be a decent suitor. Cleveland will soon find out that another tree to go along with Z is what they are eventually going to need. Nazr has a contract that baloons to nearly 7 Mil until 2010/11. Disgusting. Dreadful. Atrocious. Please, Joe, anything. I don’t care what we get in return. Get rid of that contract. Someone will bite for a relatively young 7’er.
Rasheed Wallace. Oh how ye have worn on thee. And it seemed like he had finally accepted going into the post and working from there. Alas, the new NBA will not put up with his antics. However, we will have to. For two more years. That’s because at 12-13 Mil, Rasheed is here to stay. Actually, once he hits that last year he will be trade bait as an expiring contract. But there’s no doubt he’ll be here for atleast next year and likely the rest of his contract.
Coaching Issues
Some of you may take me for a Flip defender, since I pretty much always defend Flip. However, I always defended LB, as well. And I definately defended RC. Generally, I’m one to look at the players first, coaches second. That said, I don’t think Flip is an elite head coach. I don’t think he’s an awful head coach. I would say he might be top 10. The question then becomes, is top 10 good enough for this team in this situation. The answer? Now it is. Because like it or not, the Pistons are not championship calibre, right now. And because of that, there is no reason to fire a coach and bring in another. A new head coach will not put this team over the top. That’s a fact. Now, Joe may pull some miraculous moves where we start to think “All right, now this team is right back at the top”. Then, and only then should we be looking at firing a head coach, who, while isn’t elite, isn’t awful. And considering the alternate options, well, there aren’t many. The Czar comes to mind. I’m not a fan of Van Gundy. And LB wore out his welcome with the players. So, only if Joe is able to get in players that will legitimately make this team a contender (and I’ll get to what that means in a moment) should we look at changing coaches. And that may very well be the case sooner than later.
The Draft The Pistons hold the #15 pick and the #27 pick in the first round. These two picks are HUGE to the future of this franchise. These two picks may allow Joe to rebuild without tearing down. Right now the Pistons, while everyone says they’re old, have a solid young core. Rip (29), Tayshaun (27), Carlos (25), Maxiell (24), and Amir (20) provide a nice core of youth. When you add two more first rounders to that, it appears that the Pistons have an ideal mix of young and old. I won’t get into who the Pistons end up choosing. I will however, strongly expect that the Pistons draft a PG and a big man. Chauncey may get his payday, but the Pistons will be looking for a true point guard. Someone who can come in off the bench and provide instant offense for himself and by being a playmaker. Preferably and drive and dish type player that can find a niche with Delfino as an outside shooter. Check out the thread in Around The NBA to see the options. A big man would be nice, especially if the Pistons choose not to resign Webber and eventually move Nazr. In fact, we may very well see the Pistons select a big man with the #15, if they believe he can produce more than Webber. That’s kinda the situation I’m hoping for at this point.
The Attitude
You’re sick of it. I’m sick of it. We are all sick of it. This team is not the blue-collar, going to work team that we fell in love with during the 2002-2004 years. This team is ****y, arrogant, egotistical. And unjustifiably so. To be honest, I think the #1 culprit is Chauncey Billups. Yeah he’s a smooth talker and says all the right things in the interviews. But it’s the things he doesn’t say. It’s the wry smile after chucking the most ill-advised shot I’ve ever seen in game 4. He’s the captain. He has to change things in that locker room. Hopefully Joe has a nice talk to him, because I really can’t expect that Joe would put up with the self-entitlement that this team has portrayed. Rip showed some signs of improvement, as far as technicals go, in the playoffs. And Tayshaun showed he wasn’t afraid to put Rasheed in his place. Now we need to see that on a daily basis. It shouldn’t come to a surprise to see these players get mad at each other for arguing with the refs, instead of always siding with their teammate. There’s no doubt the Pistons have developed a negative repitoire with the officials. That’s got to change.
The Play
What are we? During the regular season we shared the ball, found the mismatch, and attacked the basket. Against Cleveland we took the first shot, avoided the lane, and played one-on-one basketball. Offensively, I still believe the Pistons can succeed without a superstar (OMG, there’s that word). However, they need Chauncey to play like the Chauncey of 2006. They need Rip to know his role (jabroni, okay, I couldn’t resist). And they need Maxiell to continue to progress in the new Ben Wallace. He’s gotta crash the O-boards and create havoc. Something that lacked from this last year’s starting lineup. Defensively, we have to play better. On all fronts. Rasheed got dunked on and suddenly went from defensive spark to curious onlooker. That attitude won’t cut it. If getting dunked on is too embarressing for you, then someone needs to put you in your place, especially when you have that much talent. So again, alot of it falls back to the attitude of the leaders of this team.
In conclusion...
Things need to change. However, you are not going to see the blowup of this team. Not yet. Chauncey gets his payday, and this team looks very similar come November. However, major changes aren’t far. This could be our last year with Sheed. This is likely the beginning of a youth movement. Think about that for a minute. Every team goes through cycles. The Pistons have been to 5 straight ECFs. They will in all likelihood be a top 3 team in the East again. If they are able to quietly rebuild with some youth, like I said above, then we as fans should be thrilled. Not many franchises can win and rebuild at the same time. However, with Rasheed’s 2 years left, and the crop of youngsters we are assembling, it looks like Joe has done a pretty darn good job. So, have at it. Tear this post up. Just remember, it’s not too bad being a Pistons fan. Just look at the Celtics. Or the Hawks. Or the Pacers (gee remember when they were the next greatest thing?).
