WITH ALL THE BAD REP THAT SPORTS IN GENERAL HAS BEEN GETTING THE LAST 6 MONTHS TO A YEAR ..WITH THE MICHAEL VICKS AND TANK JOHNSON'S AND STEPHEN JACKSON'S .. THE RICKY WILLIAMS .. THE KOBE BRYANT'S .. THE BARRY BONDS .. THE TO'S . AND COUNTLESS OTHERS IT'S A BREATH OF FRESH AIR WHEN THERE ARE ATHLETES OUT THERE WHO DON'T GET INTO TROUBLE .. WHO HAVE SOME KIND OF COMMON SENSE AND WHO AREN'T OUT AT STRIP CLUBS OR PLACES WHERE THERE NOT SUPPOSE TO BE AT 3 IN THE MORNING.
ELTON BRAND FOR THE MAJORITY IF NOT ALL OF HIS 8 YEAR CAREER HAS BEEN UNDER THE RADAR AS FAR AS NOT MAKING A LOT OF NOISE WANTING TO BE PUT IN THE SPOTLIGHT IN THE LOOK AT ME LOOK AT WHAT I CAN DO WORLD THAT IS THE NBA . HE ISN'T FLASHY LIKE KOBE OR WADE OR ANY OF THE OTHER COUNTLESS " SUPER STAR" HE IS IN THE TIM DUNCAN MOLD IN THAT HE JUST GO'S OUT AND DOES HIS JOB HE PUNCH'S HIS TIME CARD AND QUIETLY GETS YOU CLOSE TO 20 AND 10 A NIGHT WITH 1 OR 2 BLOCKS ..AND DOES WHAT EVER HIS TEAM NEEDS HIM TO DO NIGHT IN AND NIGHT OUT TO WIN GAMES .
THAT IS WHY IT MADE ME A LITTLE SAD TO READ THIS ON THE MSN HOMEPAGE ... Brand ruptures Achilles' tendon in workout..... Los Angeles Clippers forward Elton Brand ruptured his left Achilles' tendon on Friday during his daily workout.
The 28-year-old will undergo surgery but plans for the operation have not been finalized yet, the Clippers said.
"It's unfortunate that this had to happen," general manager Elgin Baylor said in a statement. "But knowing Elton and how dedicated he is to his profession and how hard he works, I believe he'll be back 100 percent as good as ever." Last month, Brand - a veteran of eight NBA seasons - withdrew from the U.S. national team because of injury. He averaged 20.5 points and 9.3 rebounds last season, when the Clippers failed to make the playoffs.
CAN BRAND COME BACK FROM THIS TYPE OF INJURY ?? ..IF HE DOES COME BACK WILL HE BE THE SAME PLAYER HE WAS BEFORE ?? WILL HE BE OVER IT MENTALLY ?? WILL HE BE HESITANT WITH HIS MOVES AND HIS CUTS AND HOW HE PLAYS THE GAME ? ... BASICALLY WILL HE EVER BE THE SAME . GOD'S SPEED ELTON. THE NBA NEEDS MORE PLAYERS LIKE YOU ON THE COURT. ..SOUND OFF BELOW AND GIVE ME YOU'RE OPINIONS AND AS ALWAYS THANKS FOR THE READ.
lisa - first livingston now brand .. lookslike it's lotto time for the clips again .. we'll see the clippers of old all over again a nba wasteland .
sls - he has the best docs money can buy i'm sure there not gonna give him false hope or false information .. a year at least maybe two if he ever plans on getting back to even close to 100 % ..but on the other hand look at amare .. his injury is as if if not worse then brands and he's comming back strong so ya never know

phil - maybe brand will come cheaper then that comming off injury hell brand at 50 % playing out of postion at center is better then anything dets got right now .. we'll make a run at him cheap ..
lisa - cassell looks like he fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down
Elton Brand is one of the class acts of the NBA. To have a class act suffer a horrible injury like that is awful. The Clips will be in the lottery, but not because of poor personnel moves. The injury bug has bit them in the WORST way. When you have two of your best players injured and sitting out for long periods of time it's tough.
Here's hoping he can come back from the torn Achilles tendon.
jon - i couldnt agree more .. the nba has gotten to be a joke .. ron artest .. kobe .. stephen jackson .. all have proved that and to see one of the few nice guys in the nba go down .. it sucks

The loss of Brand alone will definately mean the Clippers will have a lean and meager season. Especially if he's unable to return from what is bound to deemed a considerable injury. He's been their most consistent player throughout the most recent years. It's a sad blow to the franchise and to Clippers' fans in general. Hopefully he'll make successful return after recuperating from the injury.
ed - lol remember the clippers of the 90's - up untill 2005 .. yeah lol prepare for that kind of season
top - yea man it's gonna suck being a clipper fan ....even more then usual lol ... all those hollywood types that came out next year will be gone .. on the bright side court side seats will be dirt cheap
A perennial 20+ and 10 guy each year who plays the game hard. Tough loss of the Clippers and their season is done. He is the one player that cannot be replaced on that team.
The Power Forward position has gotten lighter in the West, which was the deepest in years last season.
dan - always nice to see ya on here man .. yep brand was the clippers lone superstar .. a work horse and all around nice guy hurts the nba aa whole as well ... and yes the pf postion i the west now just got a little thinner .. nice point.
sls - ha ha you get #### points for the conehead quote .. nice ... i agree though it alldepends on the individual person and how willing they are to respond to the rehab and how hard they work at it
phil - i didnt know basic black font was "corny " you think i'm ak and gonna do a rainbow richard simmons font ?
ace - good point forgot about dickau ..on a side note thats a freakin horriable last name .. growing up he must have had the #### beat out of him on a hourly basis

Just when they had it all so good and could make fun of the Lakers. Now they're once again in the same boat and will become the lame ducks of the league if he doesn't make a speedy recovery.
I've a new post up titled Passioinate About Sports But What Inspires You To Write ? Let me know what you think as to the merits of the piece ? I'll look forward to reading your comments as usual.
Nice read GR8, and a good topic discuss, though on unfortunate circumstances.
You are very correct that Brand has been a real nice player in the league, and mostly has gone completely under the radar since he joined the NBA. It is a real shame that he had to have such a nasty injury like that.
Really a shame... I hope somehow we will be talking about a few years down the road as one of the "nice comeback stories".
Later man...

P.S. Thanks for the kind words and props on the other blogs... really appreciate that, and always great to hear things like that from others... it helps a guy like me want to write more.
