Bristol - Frame by Frame Part 1
Mar 19, 2008 | 9:24PM | report this

We had alot of ooppss, Sorry about that, I didn't mean that, I did mean that & spotters eatting ice cream. The big one in most cars was Jamie McMurray and Dario Franchitti, Jamie gave him room on the first turn and Dario got alittle loose and they both drove off.

I think Matt Kenseth is saying, I better get ahead of this rookie before the next turn. Yeah he said something else maybe.

Now who else is going to try this ? Also I bet Jamie's spotter is trying to seattle down Jamie that Dario just got loose down the back streach.

Is that Kenny Schrader trying to make it 3 wide going into the next turn at Bristol ? How many times have you raced at Bristol Kenny ? Going 3 wide with a rookie in the middle ?  Dario's spotter is yelling car high and low.

Now even closer to the trun. Its a (( Drag -Chicken )) I call it. Who will be chicken first and hit the brakes.  We all know what happen when you play the real chicken and noone  chickens out. Not a great sight to see.

Kenny is not backing off, maybe he thinks the rookie will. NOT !  Why should he. Now Jamie can't see Kenny down low on Dario. Not seeing this he would think when he starts to drop Dario will also.  NOT !

Now some have said Jamie was trying to take Dario out.  Do you think McMurray can aford another DNF with his career on thin ice and so far back in points.

We know the rest, and here they are.

Lets skip to the good part. Look at Kenny's right rear tire it is on the inner tire from Dario's front end. I was wondering if the lower front spolier cut threw it like butter.

Now who's spotter was eatting ice cream ? Looks like Mikey's guy didnt have his mouth full.

Now who's that thinks he can go full tilt threw this mess up ahead?

I know Bobby your spotter was busy licking his ice cream,  and you forgot the field is frozen when you were behind Mikey.

This next section will cover something that alot will say, You must hate Jimmie Johnson. Not true. I hate troll coments.  This has been brought up before about when yellows seem to fly right away for some drivers and not others. Case in point.

Jimmie clips Burton coming out of turn and starts to spin down low, I will add all cars come out of turn going high.

Great save by both drivers I will say. Now we go to inside frame of Burton, and is very close to this point or alittle after. Have alook over to the right along the fence and look for something GREEN just above the last zero in 500 on the wall. So we are still racing.

Next one is Burton has past the 500 on wall and getting near middle. Also if you follow along the fence were you had seen the green light, you see nothing yet.

Just so we can judge alittle on this last one with the both of them in it.

Now back to Burton's car, and I didn't use and white or yellow markers to make dots.

I see a lite at the end of the tunnel, and Jeff is walf way point and the yellow lghts are flashing and Johnson has not even touch anything, and is not in the way of anyone, even Clint has room to pass.

Heres a nice frame showing how much room they got with the new front spoiler.

So before anyone jumps down my throat and say's it was brought out for safty reason.  Safty reason that Jimmie gets his spots back maybe. Now we have Brian Vickers blows a right front tire and slams the wall hard and drag along side it for awhile stuff fly off.

He keeps the car up along the wall all the way down the back streach, and is passed by 22 cars before this guy throws the yellow. If a driver hits the wall and the car comes to a stop the yellow is thrown. The recue workers race over and put the driver in the ambulance, Its manatory for them. Why ? If the driver is aware to get himself out of the car. What makes it different if the car keeps going? The driver still could have had his bell rang.

Did they hear it over the radio he was ok ?  What if he was knock out by the hit and kept his foot on the gas for awhile. I am sorry to any Jimmie fans out an about, but 3 cars cars had passed him and the yellow was out.  The hole time Brian's car was being passed by 22 cars at speed  could have been really worst if the car just drop down infront of a car at no fault of Vickers.

The drivers that get out of a car will say they are ok, but they still got to go  get check out. But if the car can keep going who is making the call weather that driver is safe to drive anymore ? Most drivers will say I am all right, Just give me 4 new tires and let me finish this race. I say if anyone hits the wal the yellow should be thrown for safty of that driver and the other 42.

Thats it. Part 2 will have my Dale Jr being warned by his old team mate to leave his new on alone.

Take care and God bless..

Hey Foresic!

Appears that NASCAR is a little quick on the Yellow trigger. I guess they go with the premise that it's better to error on the side of safety... Not a bad thing!

I sense a little bit of an under current concerning Dario... lol Can't blame you!

Hang in there!

Forensic- more great shots and undercover work here! I loved the shot of the room between the splitter and the track. So looks like Kenny is to blame for Jamie's cont'd bad luck but Jamie's spotter should have been saying 3 wide!! oy...

Cant wait for part 2...

Klvalus - I wish anyone who had heard the radio of any of them 3 drivers during that section would help alot. As you know Its just things I see and bring it up.

I would say Kenny being around so long in racing would have done the smart thing and gave them 2 a break. Its not like it was the last 10 laps of the race. Part 2 maybe tomarrow or Saturday.

BTW - Did you see the GGW Racing news 2008. Its back log by now. lol cheers and nice job on Hot & Not.

The only way Schrader was at fault was expecting those other two drivers to be able to drive!

Schrader was on the lead lap in about 11th place at the time of Dario and Jamie's mess. Those two were not on the lead lap. Kenny knew they were having a pissing contest with each other, and figured he could sneak by on the inside while they tried to wreck each other. Almost worked.

At least next year Dario can always go back to open wheel. Don't know anywhere that Jamie can go. Well I do know somewhere he can go, but not to race.

Since we have Dario's spotter blogging with us, perhaps we could get him to respond?

Hanahan - So if you are on the lead lap you going to take a chance to beat 2 cars racing side by side a lap down to the next turn making it 3 wide knowing they just had gotten togather in the turn before, and a rookie in the middle to boot ?

With all the years Kenny's been racing should have known most time 3 wide don't work. Thats why I say that, Not because Dario can go back to open wheel and Jamie can go, , well you know what you wanted to say.

Yes I know going by what happen Jamie came down on Dario to start the reck. Could it have been avoided ? I think so if Kenny would have waited for them to get single file.

Thanks for commenting. Cheers

Fore....Kenny is usually very patient, too patient perhaps. We don't know how many laps he had been following those two squirells, do we? Some times---at Bristol especially---you have to take a chance when the leader is gaining on you. He almost made it. If Dale Jr had done the same thing everyone would be cussing Dario and Jamie for wrecking Jr.

Lets see what comes of it.

Hanahan - Very True about Kenny being too patient perhaps. Kenny wasn't following them, He was passed by Matt Kenseth in 11th or 12 place, going into the turn when they first made contact. Before that I don't know, but enought back behind them that Matt got by Kenny so I can see they were holding him up till then.

This with 190 laps into a 500 lap race and the leaders were only one straightaway ahead of them. I would say the same thing about Dale Jr. Just like in my part 2 will be about him nudgging Aric.

I am not putting the direct fault on Kenny. I am saying is he should have known better out of the 3 of them. I have always love Kenny cause he loves to race for the fun of it. Not for the money, or the hoopla. Just to get behind a wheel and have fun racing.

Hanahan, Would you agree with me if Jamie McMurray would say I didn't know Kenny was on the inside of Dario ? Thanks for commenting

Fore...I don't know what Jamie's spotter was telling him. Evidently the spotter wasn't telling him enough.

I have seen at least 20 races live at Bristol. At Bristol if you sit around waiting for the rookies and scrubs to get out of your way, you'll quickly be getting passed yourself. At just about any track when 3 wide entering a corner, it is always the car in the middle of the sandwich that has to brake. Dario's spotter is the one at fault.

I was hoping I wouldn't have to explain this word by word, but here goes....When two cars are side by side ####ing on each other, it slows them both down. When a third car behind them sees them slowing down, he times his pass to the inside perfectly to roar by both of them while they are concerned with each other. It's not like Schrader raced 3 wide all the way down the straight. He pulled out just to blow by them going into the turn. His only mistake was thinking either one of those two could drive in their own lane.

Forensic:

This is straight from the horses mouth. The caution lights on the tracks had blown bulbs or a short in the switch. It only worked intermittently.

Kenny did nothing wrong. He was trying to get out of their way when they decided to include him into their party..

Hanahan - Agree with you on how they race at Bristol. They bump in the turn and didn't touch till the crash. Kenny wasn't the 3rd car behind them. Matt Kenseth was and he timed it right to blow by them. When Kenny tryed the other two were back up to speed and not bumping. Yes the middle guy should back off. Dario is a rookie, and didn't have time to let up cause Jamie came down.

Matt Kenseth made his past well before the start/finish line. Kenny is at Dario's left rear tire before the start/finish line. In fact Kenny let up coming out of the turn, cause Matt was just a car length ahead of Kenny. If Kenny didn't lift he would also have past them clean.

Also Kenny being that low going into the turn hot like that would have pushed up into Dario if they did go 2 or 3 wide. If you look at the frames #4&5 Dario's speed is 99, the next its 107 and kenny has not made any ground on him.

Like I said Jamie came down on Dario to cause the reck. Could it have been prevented ? I say yes if Kenny would have waitied for them to get sorted. He was in no way in trouble of going a lap down at that time and 190 laps into the race. The drivers say give and take till the end. I know Kenny has given more then most drivers.

Photogr - I new you did something to the lights. lol. Now on the Kenny deal, as you can see I am having a friendly comments with Hanahan. I feel Kenny got in the way of a rookie and another driver. Which he is intitle to try and get out of the way of them, but his timing was off.

Thats what I like about it, we can all see things different and at least the locals on here can agree to disagree with out mud slingging. I think Kenny could have prevented it, at the same time I spoke on how he has given more then most the drivers racing today. Mark Martin being first and Kenny second. I'm glad to see the hairy guy back.

Forensic - you have a nice term here for some of the spotters that may be out to lunch for a few moments during the race...eating ice cream, LOL.

I would think that being a spotter is a lot more difficult than most people would believe. They would have to be 100% focused on the track activity not only during the green flag racing, but also watching the pit action too, and entry /exit onto pit road. Still they are only human and miss some calls. Of course that is no consolation to the driver who ends up in an accident because of some misinformation. But in the long run those extra pair of eyes make all the difference.

Gerrel - I agree, they got to be aware of everything around the car as much as the driver dose. I think they should get mention more in a good way then in mine just poking some fun at Bobby's. cheers
