Championship Party
Dec 02, 2006 | 1:20PM | report this
It's kind of a sad day in college football. Today, the regular season comes to an end. But the season could go out with a #### if today's games can come through for us.

It shouldn't be a good game in Pasadena, but it's the most important in the big picture. USC takes on UCLA in the Rose Bowl. If the Trojans can beat their cross-town rivals for the 8th straight time, the Trojans will likely face Ohio State in the National Championship Game. If the Bruins can pull off the upset, it will either be Michigan or Florida instead.

Wolverines and Gators fans shouldn't get their hopes up. UCLA has proven all year that they can't win big games, can't beat good teams and can't become the elite program that UCLA should be. Karl Dorrell is usually overmatched in ever game, especially against Pete Carroll. This one could be a blow out.

In the SEC title game, Florida looks to keep it's slim national championship hopes alive as the Gators face the Razorbacks. The Gators have lived dangerously all year, but have come through with several close wins. The Hogs season was tarnished a bit last week with a loss to LSU, but Arkansas could very well end up in the BCS. Don't be surprised if Arkansas gets a big win here.

In the Big 12, Oklahoma and Nebraska duel in Kansas City. Oklahoma has done a great Texas imitation. It used to be the Horns that lost to OU in Dallas, then went unbeaten the rest of the way. This time, it's the Sooners, who face a resurgent Cornhuskers team. K.C. has been a tough place for Big 12 South teams to play. Keep that in mind.

And the Big East title has yet to be decided. Rutgers visits West Virginia later tonight. A Rutgers win will put the Scarlet Knights into the BCS. A win by the Mountaineers will propel Louisville to the BCS. Randomly, Texas also has a lot of interest in this game. There's a good chance a Rutgers win will put Texas into the Gator Bowl. If Rutgers loses, the Gator Bowl will opt for the Mountaineers and Texas will fall to the Alamo Bowl.

We'll be chiming in all day.
