What's a blog?
Nov 17, 2005 | 8:36PM | report this

Good question!

A blog is a personal publishing platform.

With talk radio, you have to wait for the DJ to answer your call before you can share your well-reasoned opinions about what coaches have their heads way up their behinds.

With a blog, you can tell the world -- instantly.

On FOXSports.com, your blog is your space. You can voice your thoughts on anything and everything. And when you share your blog with your friends, they'll be able to read what you have to say, and even to comment back to you.

And, of course, once you start reading other blogs from other guys here at FOX Sports, you'll probably want to blog about their blogs, and share your thoughts on the teams and players that they're discussing.

This GM should grab the sunday paper and should never be hired again. Sent this player to the pines for the rest of the season.

It's hard to say what Matt Millian wants except success. AND NOW. Matt should remember back to his playing days and realize nothing comes without hardwork, sacrifice, and committment. Realizing the C word is hard for Matt to listen to he should take a look at his alma mater Poor Joe would be gone if Matt was AD and Penn State would be rebuilding for the next 3 coaches. Just ask Oklahoma how many coaches it took to rebuild after Barry. Matt let the next coach say who to draft and sign!

I dont know how Mat Millen got this job start with.Where did he come from? What kind of background did he have to justify hiring him as GM? I am sure that he did not get the job because he was friends with Al Davis. Or did he?

There are women writing blogs too!!! The person that wrote this blog seemed to forget that women can love sports too or at least appreciate the world of sports. As he or she states "once you start reading other blogs from other guys here on FoxSports...". Just want to make sure you know that I am not a guy!!

First things first Millen must go in Detroit, I mean there is a fan group organizing a protest...over a sports team...there are many things that may be worth a protest in Dertroit but these people chose the Lions, on one hand it shows they care on the other it shows that Millen must go! Next if Atlanta is not on the phone with Indiana offering everything but Joe Johnson, Josh Smith and Marvin Williams then it is true that the Hawks really do not wish to be a winning franchise...they would provide a long-term good situation for Artest, they will overpay for his services like no other team will and will also provide him a "Joe Johnson" chance, ala I believe I can be the man on offense and I'm not on the deep roster I am on.

I wonder what purpose is served by running the likes of Jeff Garcia out there when he clearly is not the answer for next season. Wasn't Mariucci's infatuation with him the root of his problematic relationship with Millen? It's no secret that Millen preferred Brad Johnson over Garcia as a veteran back-up who could push Harrington. Before we get too involved in calling for Millens head, we need to hire a coach who is able to adopt offensive playcalling and philosophy to the personel available. Perhaps a coach with personel descisions and authority is the answer.

Brett Favre has become an icon here in Green Bay.
Retirement for Brett? Oh no! Brett should make the
decision, and let his fans know before he talks to the media. There is no rule about when one should retire. He /she should retire at a point in life
when he/she considers it an opportune moment, irrespective of whether one has hit rock bottom, reached the zeneith, or is "flying parallel
with the x axis."

One can only hope that Brett would return to the
Packers for the next season. Some would criticize
him for the inordinate number of interceptions
thrown. How I love the risks that he takes! The game would be poorer without him.One has to take cognizance of the fact that the Packers had been
stricken with injuries in 2005, and playing with
a large number of relatively inexperienced ( but who have great potential) players, Brett faced a
mammoth task. Have you noticed how little protection he was given to do what he had done over the years? Brett has had many adversities in his life in the last few years, and has met them with quiet dignity and fortitude. He is an extremely strong person with a heart filled compassion. His efforts in helping the less fortunate in society bears testimony to this.He should not be pressured to make a quick decision
by the media which sometimes hound famous figures.

Whatever Brett does, his fans would respect him. However, every fan would wish that he returns
to play for the Packers next season.

A comment on Coach Mike Sherman: I wish that he would be retained as a head coach. If on

Well now that mike sherman has been releast will Brett stay with green bay he has said that if mike goes he goes to. Look back at the years brett has given us. The thill the color what can you ask of a QB. He has been MVP 3 times, Broke all kinds of records, he has made you cheer, laugh, cry, swear at the TV, but each week there you are watching the game on tv or in green bay. or listing to it on the radio. What ever he does I'll back him 100 percent. sometimes I just want to craw into a hole when I have to put up with MN. or chicago but then I just say to myself I've got the Pack and Brett Favre. What do they have? I just trun around and look at them and say WE ARE THE GREATEST FOOTBALL TEAM EVER. AND NO WHERE WILL YOU FIND A MORE FAITFULL FAN IN THE WORLD! Hyway94

Highway 94, good comments.Keep the Pack alive.I am glad that you have stuck to support the Packers through their triumphs and losses. That ,I say,is a loyal fan- not the wishy-washy type who would heap praises on the team when it wins but whine, moan, groan and become verbally vulgar when it loses.Does a team need such weak kneed, lilly livered lads and ladies?

I was indeed saddened by news of Sherman's exit.I liked him beacuse of his gentlemanly habits and
dignity. I hate coaches who bare their teeth and froth at the mouth. Reminds me of a picture that I had many years with a wild dog snarling at a lion that was trying to get its food.Sherman did not like any of his staff raising their voices at the
players. What an admirable trait? But, some would construe this as a weakness in Sherman. The unfortunate fact about the U.S. is that anybody that is soft-spoken and acts in a dignified manner is regarded as a failure in life! "Win at all costs" is a philosophy of a fool. During Sherman's stint with the Pack, the team won three NFC titles
a fact that his critics tend to shroud. I have seen Sherman's elation and disappointments.Study
the factors that led to a poor season for the Packers: I do not think any other coach would have done better. To the GM Ted Thompson, I say "There is none so blind as he that would not see!"

Any person who has even known or been associated with Paterno knows he is one of the most ethical, responsible, respected men in the sport's world today. You need only to recall the punishment endured by former players on his teams over the last 40 years when rules were broken. These crazy, troubled women are who give all of us a 'bad name.' They need to take a good look at their reading comprehension skills!!

The Steelers have been a top 4 NFL team plenty of times, and even were the second best right before we got the Bus! Not to be early on an NFL that still has 3 other teams alive until Sunday-I think the Steelers are a complete team with a future Hall of Famer at QB and it looks like the Steelers are the best NFL team this year and coud have another 70's type dynasty brewing. Name your children after Steeler players ( or at least the family dog ) They should rock for a while now, and after their dynasty run is over I know we'l have a coach who'll be a good sport! N.E.'s coach acted like a jerk and although losing is tough, ne showed how classless he can be. I guess it hurts not being called a genius anymore!

NOT ONLY AFTER THE ARROGANT 60 MINUTE INTERVIEW DID BRADY LOSE LIKE THE NEXT 2 OR 3 GAMES IN A ROW HE DESERVED IT,AND BASICLY BEGGED FOR IT BY BEING THE MAN TO BURY. THATS EXACTLY WHY PLAYERS ESPECIALLY A SO CALLED TEAM LEADER SHOULD NOT DO THOSE PUBLIC INTERVIEWS DURING THE PLAYING SEASON.AND WHAT GREAT JUSTICE TO HAVE THE STEELERS BEAT THEM OUT-GETTING BEAT BY THEM DURING REGULAR SEASON ONLY HELPED THE STEELERS BECAUSE IS FUELED THEIR ADRENALINE-JUST LIKE BEING THE LEAST LIKELY TEAM TO COME THIS FAR-1ST 6TH SEED TEAM TO DO IT. DON'T CARE ABOUT RECORDS JUST CARE ABOUT THE WIN. SAME THIS WEEK BY EVERYONE TALKEN SMACK THAT THEY ARE NOT EVEN CONTENDERS IN THIS CHAMPIONSHIP GAME BAD MOVE FOR DENVER,PLUS FOR PITT.REGARDLESS OF THE OUTCOME BETTIS,COWHER ARE GOING TO THE HALL OF FAME. I DONT EVEN WHOLEHEARTEDEDLY CARE IF THEY WIN THE SUPERBOWL. I JUST KNOW THAT THESE GUYS PLAY WITH HEART. THEY ARE A CLASS ACT TEAM AND HAVE A CLASS ACT COACH.MY OPINION-IF ROETHLISBERGER STAYS UNHURT THE WHOLE GAME THEY ARE IN. BUT REALISTICLY,HE'S THE MAN TO PUT OUT.IF PITTSBURGH PLAYS THE FLAWLESS GAME THEY DID LAST WEEK, WHICH WAS THE BEST I SAW ALL SEASON-TO DO THAT 2 GAMES IN A ROW IS TOUGH AS HELL.BUT IT JUST GOES TO SHOW YOU WHAT A GREAT COACH COWHER IS-NEVER LET THEM SEE YOUR HAND PLAY TIGHTER MAN TO MAN AND LET BEN PUT THE BALL IN THE AIR. ALL SEASON IT WAS ALL ABOUT THE RUNNING GAME-NOT THIS TIME. THEY CANNOT PLAY THE NORMAL CONSERVATIVE GAME AND EXPECT TO WIN. IM A TOTAL WRECK RIGHT NOW WORSE THAN THE 4TH QUARTER OF THE COLTS GAME. BUT LET US NOT FORGET THE COLTS DID NOT EARN THAT FIELDG

I read today that Lindy Ruff, the coasch of the Sabres thought Kasparaitis put a cheap hit on Tim Connally. Maybe Connally and Ruff should see the replay and skate with their heads up respectively. Seeems when someon gets a bad rep for one hit in the NHL he gets the label for anything he did.. Kasp/s no angel, but the hit was by the books--a classic hip check. All of the commentators said so-sorry TC was injured but hockey is not a game for wimps or complainers!

The winner of the Super Bowl will be the team that switches to a "Single Wing" offence at half-time. Both teams have had two weeks to practice and the one that practiced an "element of surprise" will take it. I know a lot of you football fans have never heard of "single wing"...that was the "thing" before "T" formation.

For Heavens sakes, everyone could have been given an Ipod and it'd be better than the halftime entertainment. Just one final word, how do companies justify so much money on relative stupidity in their advertisements? What a waste, what a waste.

THE "SUPERBOWL" WAS A JOKE. THE NFL IS NO LONGER A SPORTS FRANCHISE NOR IS FOOTBALL A GAME. ITS ALL ABOUT MONEY. THE "GREAT GAME" TO NAME THE NFL "CHAMPIONS" IS DECIDED BY THE OWNER/TEAM THAT PAYS THE MOST MONEY.
THE WINNER OF SUPERBOWL 40 WAS DECIDED EVEN BEFORE THE KICKOFF. THIS WAS OBVIOUS BY THE POOR OFFICIALS, BAD CALLS AND MADE UP CALLS AGAINST SEATTLE TO HELP PITTSBURG WIN.

A little logic. If officials are just plum bad, then they'll make bad calls on both sides of the field and it will all come out in the wash. If they are really good, they can affect the outcome o####ame without anyone the wiser. These guys were oafs. They were simply so inept at throwing a game that the entire nation is already agreeing.
Congratulations Seattle, you are our Champions.
With todays technology, who needs these guys. Cameramen are better referees and cameras don't lie. Simply take 50 views of the play and let the fans make the call. You don't even have to pay them. Save the salaries the bums make now and rely on the instant replay.....much better..

Here's an idea. All season long ref's make bad calls. Why not let playoff teams choose who they want to ref the games. The ref's would get a bonus for being chosen, thus they would try harder to get the call right during the regular season, playoffs, and the Superbowl. There's got to be something done to stop another season of refing like this one.

Pass interference in the endzone??? Wasn't the DB bumping the receiver? Isn't that illegal contact? The NFL now says the call were good!! Well, any true football fan that knows the game will disagree. Just ask Madden and Michaels.

I was not only upset about the horrific referring at The Super Bowl, but very upset that my son who has loved The Seahawks since he was 5, got to go to the game at age 34, only to be subject to a defeat that was so unjust.
We are from Ohio and love football, but I may never watch another Super Bowl game at least with those refs. How can Steeler Fans feel good about a game given to them? A win is not "just a win". They truly lost that game and had it handed back to them. I'm so disgusted and yes I am a woman who could have refed the game better. Seems someone had the fix on. Puts us right up there with pro-wrestling.

there were bad calls on both sides of the ball.2 fumbles taken away from pittsburg.this isn't tag football.bad call on hassleback no penalty there.push off was a pushoff.hold was a hold.bens td close call i thought he made it .but holgrem no handshake lame excuse = no class should be suspended & fined.where is the uproar for that?fact is pitt made the plays to win as champs do.they overcame much worse calls to beat colts.so stop cryin &quit trying to smear their victory.besides if you take away the push off &bens td pitt still 17-14 give pitt the fumble recoveries back could be worse.

Michaels gone! Joe Smoe and Cornpone for Al Michaels! You have got to be kidding me! I dreaded watching Sunday night football because of Joe and his "when I was playing..." commments, not to mention his contridictions throughout the game. RIGHT ON SHOOTER. I WAS AT THE SUPERBOWL AND IF THE SEAHAWKS HAD NOT MISSED 2 FIELD GOALS AND PENALIZED THEMSELVES RIGHT OUT OF THE GAME THEY MAY HAVE BEEN CONSIDERED CONTENDERS.IN PITTSBURGHS DEFENSE IT WAS NOT THE BEST GAME THEY HAVE PLAYED BY FAR. BUT THEIR RUNNING GAME WAS COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN AND FOR CRYING OUT LOUD THEY ALL HAD TO BE NERVOUS AS ----. THOSE PLAYERS DESERVED EVERY BIT OF THE VICTORY NOT ONLY FOR THAT WIN BUT COMING FROM WHERE THEY WERE ALL SEASON THOSE GUYS PLAY WITH HEART AND THAT IS WHAT WON THE BALL GAME!!!!!!

After watching the Super Bowl, I am profoundly disturbed, sad, and pistoff of such a bad game. Football is a symbol of Made In America. And what have they done!!!! It was very clear who they wanted to win, everyday I enter to the website of FoxSports, I can´t stand seeing the final score, I wouldn´t have cared who would have won, but the way it happened it´s clear that somebody paid for pittsburgh to win. Reasons:
1.- Seattle couldn´t enter the red zone without being penalized.
2.- Every play of more than 20 yards was called back.
3.- Penalties badly called starting from the begining with the first touchdown being penalized.
4.- The broudcast crew wanted pittsburgh to win, there was so much publicity towards pittsburgh.
I love football, but please I would like the NFL to revise what happened not only in the Super Bowl, but in the playoffs, example the game in Indy.

While his pro accomplishments in baseball are commendable he just took the luster and glitter off by becoming to much of a self centered ball player. I like the guy, he's a different kind of baseball player but his legacy should find it's base on the new generations to come. In a world of sports where money is so prevelant some humility should always guide your soul.

Has the NBA gotten better?
I do not think so. The game of finesse that I grew up with got replaced by thugs and what we used to call "butchers" on the street courts of New York. Yes, I am "Old School". Yeah, when Dr. J, Connie Hawkins, Walt Frazier, Earl Monroe, and Elgin Baylor made the game "SWEET", and "shake and bake", wasn't just something you bought at the supermarket. Oh! I get it. The game has become "physical" nowadays. Make up for your lack of fitness and agility by elbowing somebody, look better on your move by pushing the guy aside. Don't make your game work for you, use your mouth instead. While your at it grab the guy by the trunks and control his movement that way. It's all part of the "game". Don't worry! If you have achieved "superstar" status, you won't foul out. The refs will call the foul on your off the bench team mate. Why? The NBA got it in its head that the fans who still come to the game did not come to watch a match among skillful athletes, they came to see you. That's why you can act the fool on and off the court. So! Let's keep plucking those young kids out of college early. They don't need an education. They got money. Nothing wrong with money, until you blow it because you did not get a proper education on how to invest it. What does a broke, injured, uneducated former NBA player do with the remaining 60 years of his life?

The Naysayers are out in full force. In a seven game series, the Detroit Pistons simply, won't lose. Fatigue, was the determining factor in game one. Mark my words Miami Heat Fan, the Pistons will come out firing on all cylinders tonight and win by 9 to 11 points tonight. The bench will be significant, but the star of the game will be Chauncey Billups. The shooting slump will end with a 27 point, 11 assist effort. Sorry Shaq, the run stops here. Maybe some more off season trades and roster reshuffling will work next year.
