Over the last few days I’ve read in various sources that Mark Martin will announce this weekend that he is leaving DEI at the end of the year and will become a full time driver once again taking over the number 5 car with Hendrick Motorsports. He will state in so many words that he has come to the conclusion that he wants to make one more run at the Cup Championship and that Hendrick offers him the best chance to do it in the number 5 car. I may have missed it, but I haven’t seen anyone fanning the flames of this rumor here in the Fox Sports community…

Hendricks has announced that they will be holding a news conference tomorrow in Daytona, which just happens to be where Mark Martin lives.
If the Mark Martin move comes to pass, this changes what many fans thought was Tony Stewart 's destination. So where does Tony go, especially if he cherishes Chevrolet? The Haas deal may just take a big step closer to reality with their Chevrolet connection.

It seems like a natural for Tony, plus it would put him in the driver’s seat in more ways than one. Tony’s reputation and seemingly successful business history in the racing industry would go a long way toward attracting and maintaining strong sponsorships and that’s half the battle.
Will tomorrow's announcement be the first in a set of dominos to fall causing a ripple effect throughout NASCAR? If Martin does move will people construe this as yet another blow to DEI's credibility?

Things seem to be getting crazier by the minute in the sport. Franchitti can't get a ride for love or money. And now Martin could well end up at HMS ?
There's something really going on here rumor or not.

Stewart is definitely the hot topic of where he is going to go. I think Hass racing might be a bad move considering the negative impact of the owner being in prison.
I would imagine if the Neuman part of the team would be involved with NASCAR, it might be an ok deal.

Your rendition of what may come to pass calls for Junior escorting his step mom to the door at DEI... Now that would be something. No doubt if the Hendrick-Junior partnership went that direction they'd have the money to do it... I can't see Stewart in a situation like that though. I get the feeling he wants to be "The Man"... We shall see!
I don't know all the details about Haas, but it certainly appears that the racing team is on the ropes taking body blows... This just might be the very best time for someone like Tony to waltz in there and pick up the pieces at bargain basement prices... Just my opinion based on a feeling.
I don't understand Martin being asked to work for Hendrick unless it is, like forensic says, another piece of the puzzle to take down DEI and put Dale Jr. back where he never should have been treated so poorly...
The DEI organization is just falling apart. Mark Martin is like the Brett Favre of NASCAR; he just doesn't get when its time to hang it up. Tony should go to Hendrick, but it won't happen. Mark will get another shot for a championship. Happy Fourth!
Ok I read on the Bottom line OfficeDepot with Smoke after 09. Will HomeDepot be there as well? I was just thinking..Remember the meeting of Gibbs with Tony and HomeDepot earlier this year? Did they make an agreement of HomeDepot Orange staying Tonys color at his new house? Will the new SmokeMotorsport team be a railway Depot of sponsors? Its going to be fun to watch.
Are Truex and Stewart tight? That Haas deal looks like a smart move for Tony. An established team possibly for sale at a good price and it has the Chevy connection.

I just heard (and I'm pretty sure it was Office Depot and not one of the other office supply franchises) the Office Depot might be filing for protection under the bankrupcy laws. I'm pretty sure that's the case but don't hold me to it... That might throw a wrench in a Stewart-Office Depot deal. I'll check it out.
I did hear something about the 8 car and Almirola at DEI. Sure looks like the stars are lining up for Junior to reclaim his old number!
Seems to me that it's taken quite a round about path to get it done, but the rightful owner of DEI is about to take over. Junior's step mother took over what she should never have had. She is set for the rest of her life, she didn't have to run DEI. I guess this points out just how much animosity there has been between her and Junior over the years.
C'mon Dwindy....write about something that I can comment on. The only thing I know about auto racing is that everyone starts off with 5 wheels, and the winner probably still has them.

Looks like the Red Sox got back on track there in New York... The Rays finally get to play a team that they should, by all accounts, defeat. Now watch them struggle!
NASCAR is a different breed of cat in the sports world and I've really enjoyed following it this year especially with a young, brash driver sticking it to the establishment! lol
I'm thinking about those Rays, but there have been so many new commentators on them...

No family here except the fabulous Cindy. Kids are in Wisconsin, Rhode Island, New Jersey and Ireland. We do however have a big circle we travel with and never seem to be alone.
