A group of players on a Major League Baseball team that has had more than it's share of negative PR over the last few days has taken a very different approach to raising awareness of cancer generally and, with Mother's Day coming up this Sunday, breast cancer awareness in particular. Chicago White Sox' pitchers Bobby Jenks and John Danks, along with outfielder Nick Swisher and catcher Toby Hall have dyed their facial hair hot pink to draw attention to and show support for cancer awareness and research for a cure. Several children from Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation were on hand to witness the ball players turn their beards pink at the New Comiskey Park in Chicago.

In this day and age of almost constant negativity concerning athletes throughout sports, it makes me very happy to bring a story such as this to everyone's attention...
There isn't a single one of us who hasn't been touched by this terrible disease in one way or another.
kelly, you and I know there are good stories out there, we just don't seem to hear about them.
I was really happy to see the national exposure the women's softball players from Central Washington got for helping the Western Oregon player around the base paths after she tore up her knee. Way cool and something young people need to be exposed to...
D-Man...it is nice to see pro athletes looking ridiculous for a good cause. If anyone thinks they're fat, just take a look at Jenks. He'll make anyone feel thinner.
I'm a sports fanatic living on the west coast of Florida. I'm a rare bird that moved here from the left coast a couple of years ago. I advocate an even playing field in all of life's endeavors.
