Congratulations to those selected as NGS 2 finalists. I want to give a special shout-out to MooreSports, Mr. NFL, rivjo and ShooterB. They were writing great stuff a long time before the contest was announced and I know that they'll do well. Others in the contest I don't know as well (and I'm not going to comb through every blog) but I'm sure they're good writers and deserving.
It's a beautiful 65 degree day here in DC, I think I'll pull myself away from my keyboard and enjoy it. Although when it hits 95 (as it will soon), I'm sure I'll be back to enjoy myself here in the blogosphere. Cheers!
Thanks very much DrCrab. Glad to be a part of the blogging community. Like you said, I'd be writing even if there was no contest. Hopefully it will be a great competition...
Enjoy the weather. In my desert realm, 95 degrees is considered normal...or maybe a little on the cool side. I'd take 65 any day of the week...
I want to echo Shooter B. I enjoy being part of the community and will blog no matter what. I appreciate your recognition and it meant a lot to me. You know how much I respect your writing. Enjoy the day and thanks again.
While I'm dissapointed and admittedly befuddled to not have made the 16 (EVERY writer should feel that way)
There are some REALLY good writers that made the top 16. I wont name names yet, but I have my early favorites.. I'm confident they will shine once the assignment portion begins.
I MUST say this though.. There are two to three blogs in the final 16 that absolutely DO NOT belong there.. I am 100% PUZZLED on what criteria was used this time around. I guess writing three total posts consisting of 3 LONG paragraphs for a total of about 400 words is more deserving than DOZENS who put much more time and effort in, not too mention how much better their work was (and im not including myself)..I especially love seeing another finalist who had exactly ONE Post for the entire month of May.. It's almost comical.
I know that sounds like sour grapes, but sorry, that's the way it is.

finalists,
Thanks for checking in and good luck in the contest! I'm going to be taking a break for a bit after this post. I'm feeling a bit burned out considering how much I wrote. I think that even without the contest I have some seed material for a portfolio. I'll also be on featurepresentationonline.com who I've been neglecting. I'll still be responding to comments until tomorrow if anybody wants to spew.
Pat,
I think you and Demoncume made some excellent points about the selection process, but I want out of here for a while so if I stirred up controversy I'd have to respond and I don't want that right now. I appreciate the fact that you do.
I realize I left out GBrent seeing that he won the play-in game. Congrats, you're another good'n. And absolutebest is good but he's new but I'll give him a congrats anyway.
Thanks for the congrats, Dr. Crab. In this NGS go-around, I've been more active in the blogging community and have enjoyed a good number of posts on here. No matter how this all shakes out, I'm looking forward to adding my voice to the group on a regular basis.
Dudski, you are correct! Are you from around Mont. Co. MD? I'm not sure where you're from, but you're one of those bloggers that I'm really scratching my head why you didn't make it. Well you have to tell me why you are so familiar w/the C&O regardless. I like the bike trail and canoeing.
absolute--thanks, and good luck to you (although I don't believe in luck) so make that good blogging!
James--Unfortunately you can't go in unless you want some freaky turtle-borne disease.
detroit--I'll check it out, ty
Norcal--I haven't really noticed EBennett's blogs, but I'll stuff the ballot box on your recommendation. I'll also drop in to do the same for my faves. I'm not going to be able to stay away too long...my question is will Haz ever return? He wasn't much of a sports guy but his #### sure was entertaining.
DrCrab thanks for the gracious post, as an exile in Sports Hell Va. its nice to know others in this area aren't wrapped up in politics to the extent the only points they care about are talking...
Hi Doc-I'm a history nut and have spent time up there visiting the locks. I think the whole thing is one of the most interesting parts of early US history that nobody writes much about. Plus, I've had to be up there on business and have enjoyed going over to the Great Falls of the Potomac.
ed--good luck to you in the big dance. I have as many problems with it as the rest of the people but I knew that it was seriously flawed from NGS 1. But a lot of life is like that so it's best to just move on.
Dudski--Great Falls is a nice walk but on Saturday and Sunday it's hell. It's like being on the concourse at an arena. On the weekdays it's great and it's good to take a dog (I don't have a dog, but my girl's folks do so we take him.) People fish in the canal too (catfish) and eat them. No one's died as far as I know.
Hey everybody, check out that blank in your (and my) favorite bloggers links. It's Mean Dovine. Not only is his blog blank but even the title's been erased. Strange.
My guess is he was just here for the contest and then bailed out. I don't blame him, the contest is set up to attract people who want to win. I came to the site for a different reason, but I'm still going to take some time off (if the Mavs and Suns didn't win last night no chance I'd be on). Some of those selections were very questionable too. Many writers are insulted. I don't know.
Sports--I think you're being diplomatic. Some of those selections are serious clunkers, and there's more than one. I wouldn't have had a problem with you, btw.
Sleepless--Thanks, I thought your entry was really creative and I enjoyed your participation posts. That really could have won the whole thing. It's amazing that there are so many good bloggers like you that didn't make it and the several crappy ones that did. I'm trying to get off of the site but I'm like a crack addict and the implosion of NGS II has been fun to watch. I'm still determined to take a break of at least a week.
