Alright all of you Bonds supporters, come and get me! I'm gonna rag on your boy:
WHY isn't he trying to clear his name?! I mean COME ON! Two books and counting, numerous reports, reporters shoving mics in his face 24/7. He should be the first REAL man in the Steroid era and test out.
McGwire, Sosa, and the rest should do the same, but Barry is taking ALL the heat now.
Whats with the lawsuit? Does he actually think he has a shot in hell of blocking these guys from making money off their own work? Pretty ballsy for someone so guarded.
Look I was a huge Tony Manderich (1989 2nd overall pick from Michigan State) fan back in the days. I KNEW guys that played against him in college. He was almost super-human. All the time I KNEW he was on roids, but I loved to see him shove defensive linemen on their backs over and over again. I wouldn't even argue with you if you brought up his roid usage.
But for some reason, I have YET to meet a Bonds fan that will say "Yeah I KNOW he did'em, but I still like him".
The closer he gets to the record, the more people will want to know!
First off, you know by my name that I am NO Cowboy fan. Yeah, when I was a kid I used to play football in the backyard and drive down the field as "Danny White", but that's the extent of my admiration of the "boys".
I do think they are making all the right moves this off season.
The addition of T.O. makes them dangerous. I know they used to have Keyshawn Johnson, but he's no T.O. I believe that T.O. will work twice as hard on and off the field this year (at least I hope he does) and be an even more deadly target on the field. I think Dallas fans will forgive him for his "Star celebration" the first 3 touchdown game he has.
Also I just read the Cowboys picked up Mike Vanderjagt. This guy is pure money as a kicker. Many of you my say he sucks when it's clutch, but check the math - he is the BEST kicker in the NFL.
I wish my Lions would do more than pick up EVERY QB on the open market this off season. Dallas will be deadly....................
Here we go, Bonds is telling one paper one thing, and another paper another thing.
He told USA Today that he will make the 2006 season his last, and just this morning I am hearing he will quit after the 2007 season depending on his knee.
A man can retire when he wants, I am not arguing that. But you have to admit - You may want to play baseball like Bonds, but you would NEVER want to be a person like Bonds.
Baseball DOESN'T need Bonds anymore - I'm not sure that it ever has. His homerun record (single season) was not as exciting as Sosa / McGwire. When his team got to the World Series, I was SO glad to see him lose. I just cant support that type of human being. He is not an ambassador of his game, he hardly played last year, and he is CLEARLY a RACIST.
There is no other player in any other sport who can get away with the stuff he said in the past.
He said he wants to break Ruth's record ONLY. The reason is...... because Ruth is white. That is fact. How would the world take it if a white runningback who looked like he took roids (and didn't try to prove the world otherwise) said he wanted to break the single season rushing records because he wanted to "beat all the black guys"? He would go down in flames with John Rocker.
Also he blames the media for a lot of his and his family's troubles. Hey Barry, make yourself a little more accessable! Stop being an #### (MANY writers say Bonds is the WORST player to deal with in the locker room). These days, steroids is a hot button topic, and everyone wants to talk to Bonds, I wonder why?
Where is some things Bonds could've done to get himself out of this negative light:
1. Go to the congressional hearing for steroids. If he was the first guy to talk, millions of people's opinions would've changed. Instead he chose not to show.
2. Dispell the rumors. Take a steroid test live on the air on some sports show. If he TRUELY cared about his and baseball's image, he would take any steps neccessary to prove his case.
3. Goes with number 2, TELL THE TRUTH. His trainer was in with the BALCO guys. They made designer steroids! Bonds has personal chefs, doctors, traniers, etc - to say that he got something from someone and took it not knowing what it was is just DUMB! Tell us the truth.
4. Play in the WBC. To me, it just seems that he said he would play to get people off his back. Everyone KNEW there was a olympic-style drug test going into the WBC. Once I heard that, I KNEW Bonds would pull out right before it started for some fake reason. Guess what, he did.
There is no doubting he is a good player. But look at his history, the massive bulking up, the increasing in hat size, how into his 40's he is in better shape than he was with the Pirates. Add in the racial comments that NOONE else could get away with, and it all adds up.
I'm not Nostrodomis (<--Spelling?), but I DO know that Isiah's last ride as a person of power in ANY sport will be the ruining of the Knicks organization.
New York, you have been warned. Look at all the trades we can't say no to. The BULLS are a better team because of him.
Larry Brown's HUGE contract, was he on CRACK? I think the Knicks are the only team Brown HASN'T coached in his lifetime, why would you set yourself up for a huge buyout later.
Why is it that every rumor about a trade in the NBA has to do with New York? You guessed it, Isiah!
Being a Pistons fan, I am not worried. Wade got off, and Shaq finally got some high numbers, but everyone, and I mean everyone says this is the best game the Heat have played ALL year.
If that fact is so, then why so much talk?
I think the Heat made a huge mistake with their trades. Payton is playoff poison.
The whole VanGundy wanting to spend time with his family is BS too! I hope this whole thing blows up in Riley's face.
The Heat last year seemed to have cohesiveness, this year's team seems to lack it.
I may be wrong, but I think the Heat are STILL a year or two from getting there.
I just read that the Lions F'ed it up with Mike Martz.............SWEET!
Hiring a coah has NOTHING to do with a cap, and the Ford family has more money than they know hat to do with. That's why Matt Millen still has a job.
I can see myself being one of the many Lions fans on eBay auctioning off my loyalty to another team. It just seems that the Lions are cool with being loseres year after year. I heard that news last night and my heart sank, thanks MILLEN!
Hey Matt, I have some sweet advice for you - quit. The more moves you do, the more the Lions head towards being sold. If you leave now, who knows maybe a team will take a chance on you later in life. Heck, even Mike Tice got another chance and he was a little less of a toolbag than you are.
I've been in Indiana for the last few years and REFUSED to be a Colts fan, even though it could've been easy to jump on their bandwagen this year. Maybe next year I'll try another team............................
I work for DuPont, so I HAVE to at least follow the series. Everywhere I go in the plant I service, people are always asking me about Jeff Gordon. The plant I service paint is is TMMI (Toyota Indiana).
When Toyota entered the Craftsman Truck series, this plant was all excited. The in-plant store sold mini diecast trucks, and everyone bought them up. The Tundra 200 is at the oh-so-close Nashville Speedway. The WHOLE frigg'in plant goes to the race every year. They are a proud bunch here.
Now Toyota is going to the big show: NASCAR and Busch. Wil Toyota ruin NASCAR? I have no idea. I do Know that Toyota pours TONS of money into their racing teams, and recently pulled out of the IRL. NASCAR officials have said that they will monitor Toyota's teams, and even Toyota said they will not run the car teams like their truck teams.
Talking to people here online, they seem excited. but one question kept coming up: If you didn't work with (or for) Toyota, would you be excited about Toyota entering the NASCAR and Busch sreies?
I just heard today (and I may be jumping the gun) that the Lions are hiring Mike Martz. This is the BEST move so far (pending a sweet T.O. deal) in the off-season. Martz is an offensive genius. I know I'm gonna hear from some St. Louis fans saying he couldn't produce after #### V. left St. Louis, but hey - maybe the guy just doesn'y have the juice to be an effective head coach. I alos heard one of my collegues say that Martz quit St. Louis, I don't think that's true. He did step aside because of health reasons, but I highly don't belive he quit.
ANYWAY. Given the weapons he has to play with (Williams, Williams, and Rogers), and the potential in Joey Harrington, Detroit's offense has instantly been given a charge.
Plus the NFC North is weak to begin with.
As a Lions fan, I always hope for the best EVERY year.
Hey, things can only get better.................... right?
I just saw that LeBron James committed to playing for Team USA in the next Olympics. I find this news to be a breath of fresh air. LeBron will be the next Jordan of a league that is plagued by an image problem as well as a problem with individualism. Many players think only of themselves, wanting more shots (Stephon), moaning if they don't get minutes. It's nice to see LeBron step up and lead the way to another gold (hopefully). It seems to me he is just like Kobe was when he entered the league. A fresh young face, who seems to care about the league. Kobe NEVER had any good commercials though ("The LeBrons" is the funniest stuff I've seen in a while). All in all, I'm glad LeBron isn't scared.
What is Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett scared of? They are exactly the guys we should have on this team. Are they afraid of terrorists? Are they afraid of getting beat? Are they afraid of security? ALL these reasons are stupid to me. I read today that LeBron was mad about last year's outcome and wanted to contribute. That's what I'm talking about - get mad! If all of our NBA's american all stars went out, got mad, got together, and played in the Olympics, they would bring home gold. All these teams that have beaten the USA are playing their true all stars. Their all stars WANT to play, they are PROUD to play. You think Shaq gives two squirts about American pride? You think he would being a military brat growing up, but you guessed it - NO word from the diesel. Sitting around and saying: "If Shaq would've played" or "If KG was there" is getting to be old news.
The game was born here, perfected here, all countries send their best to play here. Shaq, KG, and Timmy D should get pissed and bring the gold back to where it belongs, HERE>
I bet you didn't know that the Detroit Pistons are 30-5!? If you listen to sports radio, you may hear that stat, but it's not getting very much press at all, and you know what? Real Pistons fans don't care.
Keep talking about Kobe getting 45 a game, keep talking about how great the Heat will be this year, keep on talking about how the Pacers are the best team in the East. Everyone knows that the Pistons are the best team in Basketball now. That's right, TEAM. Yeah, they lost to the Spurs last year, but everyone knows that if Horry missed that one 3-pointer at the end of regulation in game 5, I might be writing about the repeat-champ Pistons.
Why are these other stories getting so much press? No-one cares about the Lakers, they are years away from a good team. Kobe ball-hogging is going to KILL that team. I bet Phil Jackson packs up after two seasons. After all, what's Phil going to do with a team that bad? Make them better? He doesn't know how! He is used to getting great teams passed to him right before they go for a championship.
The Heat? What about them. They should've kept the team they had last year. At least they were a closer team unit than they are today. Didn't Shaq get it the last time he was with Payton? Van Gundy "resigning" was a joke too. Talk about a coach who wants to hog the limelight. I hope Riley rides that team into the dirt like he did before.
Lastly, the Pacers. Talk about T.O. syndrome hitting a team. Getting Artest on your team is like finding out you have Testicle cancer. The guy is just trouble, and I'm so glad he isn't playing. To date, the Pacers are paying him, not playing him, and NO team is remotely intersted..... perfectly scripted!
I enjoy watching team ball, and even thought many people thought that the Finals were boring, I actually enjoyed every second of it. The radar is set too high for the Pistons, no superstars showing up on it, and you know what - we all like it here in Michigan.
First it was Matt Leinart, now Peyton Manning. What going on with these great quarterbacks who lower their stock value by being such babies at press conferences?
After the USC / Texas game, Leinart said that he thought USC was the better team and that they gave the game away. Come on Matt, you LOST. You had a great game. Reggie had a good game, and so did Mr White (who I think will be in the league longer than Bush and Leinart). It's just that Vince Young had a better game.
Move on to the Indy game......... The Colts flat out sucked. Even with the officials helping them out, and you KNOW they did, the Colts couldn't produce. I personally was laughing out loud when the Steelers sacked Manning at the 2 yard line. After the game, did Manning say the usual "hats off to Pittsburgh" speech - NO. He chose to throw his offensive line under the Colt's team bus saying that he was too busy scrambling to do anything.
I think that quarterbacks - win or lose - should be gracious in victory or defeat. It's a game that is meant to have a winner and a loser. I think Sunday Peyton Manning was the biggest loser in Indy.
I am a new FOX Sports Blogger who is from Mount Clemens, Michgan. I currently live in Houston, Texas and have lived in many states. I support all teams from Michgan with my inter-state college rivalry favoring the University of Michigan. I would like to think I have a pretty good knowledge of sports, particularly Michigan team sports.
I have been asked by a few of my friends to blog because I have some good / funny opinions about things, and I have been told I should post them somewhere.
I hope you dig the posts........ ............. ...
