First, great game by CZ last night. Dominating as few have been this last twenty years. Tough to get a no-hitter no matter where the games are played.
Second, and this is where I will get the most jeers, is this: Nobody comes back from just twelve days rest looking like this without some funny business going on. What is the funny business? Well, it isn't steroids or PED's as far as I am concerned. It is what I have stated all along, and what (I hope) is now gone forever. Big Z was read the riot act by Piniella: either STFU and do your job, you pansy-!@# or say good bye. No more pouting when things do not go your way or the team decides to get a player who you do not like...YOU DO NOT RUN THE TEAM AND THE TEAM IS NOT SOLELY DEPENDENT ON YOU TO WIN ALL THE TIME!!! Yes Carlos, the team does need you and the fans do like you, but just the same as everyone else, we need you to pay attention to what you are doing and not whether Jim Edmonds, Felix Pie, or Reed Johnson is playing centerfield.
You have always said you were going to win the Cy Young and frankly I have always believed you. Too late this year, but remember to keep your freaking opinions to yourself from now on, focus on doing your job for nine innings every time you are slated to throw, and guess what...You will win three or four of those suckers in no time flat. Nothing stopping you but fear and thin air...
This is my feeling about pro sports in general, but especially directed toward Derek Lee of the Cubs. Here is a group of over 40, 000 people gathered day in and day out, waiting, watching, and wondering, about a particular baseball team in Chicago, and we have a man who makes comments to the media questioning their motives, stating they are not really paying attention to the game...they are just there to drink a couple of beers, maybe get drunk, and try to pick up a date. Well, to be fair, he really didn't state this, he just agreed with this statement, made by a certain presidential candidate with little to no experience in governing but a tremendous amount of experience in politicking.
Well, I got news Mr. Derreck Lee. We are paying attention. We pay your tremendous salary. We are keenly aware of your ability this year to fail miserably to earn your salary. We do not like the way you are performing in your job role. You have lost your focus. You keep this up and we will lose our focus on your team. Now, STFU and go earn your money. No more grounding into 6/4/3's or 5/4/3's or any other combos you care to mention. I could easily accomplish this feat and would gladly take 1/20th of the amount of money you are stealing from the fans.
Go ahead and try us. THIS IS FOR THE REST OF YOU ON THE TEAM AS WELL...BLOW THIS AND YOU WILL LOSE MANY FANS!!!
For all of you whining about AJ Pierzynski, you should be cheering him on. You same !@#holes would be cheering that freaking loser Upton, who, had he shown any HUSTLE AT ALL, would have ELIMINATED any NEED for you to be on this board! At least Pierzynski goes out everyday and EARNS HIS PAYCHECK! Bunch of FREAKING LOSERS have no idea about the game. I wish AJ was on the Cubs. This season would have been in the bag a long time ago.
This was posted on the article concerning playoff chances, the Sox page, the Rays page and here. My opinion is this. Players like AJ are few and far between and give me hope that some of these guys do care about the fans and like to earn their money.
32 games left in the regular season and the Cubs sit at 80-50, the best record in MLB. I stated earlier on the Cubs team page the Cubs would go 28-10 over their last 38 to finish with 104 wins. They will now need to go 24-8 to achieve this.
I think this team can do it. I just do not know what is keeping them from doing it. Any ideas. All Cub haters can avoid their usual dribble.
