The University of Texas at Austin is probably one of the best schools in America, but they are not limited to being only a great academic institution. They also have great teams sports, but along with that comes a couple of troublemakers. The football team has had six arrest since June, and the fans and some of you bloggers are taking notice. The following comments are taken from some of you clowns who respond to the Fox articles.
here is a list I found that starts in 2002. Look at the quality kids Mac gets in his program:
2002 Cedric Benson - drug charges.
2003 Selvin Young, was arrested in 2003 along with linebacker Aaron Harris - defensive tackle Larry Dibbles and cornerback Edorian McCullough for marijuana possession. Those charges were dropped due to inadmissible evidence.
2003 Cedric Benson - criminal trespassing.
12.14.04 Erik Hardeman felongy possession of a controlled substance (cocaine) and misdemeanor marijuana possession.
12.10.05 Cedric Griffin investigated for assault charges; no charges formally filed by APD due to impending Rose Bowl.
12.19.05 The arrest of wide receiver Myron Hardy, charged with carrying a prohibited weapon.
05.19.06 Ramonce Taylor, felony possession of marijuana.
09.04.06 Tarell Brown, was arrested with Tyrell Gatewood and former Texas linebacker Aaron Harris with misdemeanor drug and weapon charges.
02.21.07 Ahmard Howard and Brandon Collins arrested for drug possession. Both passed a drug test, and appear to have been "victims" of the Wrong Place/Wrong Time thing.
6.01.07 Junior defensive end Henry Melton was arrested on a DWI charge June 1 after being pulled over in the Sixth Street entertainment district.
6.11.07 Robert Joseph, charged with misdemeanor burglary of a vehicle
07.28.07 Former Longhorn safety Robert Joseph, charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, a first-degree felony.
07.28.07 Sergio Kindle, charged with driving while intoxicated.
08.02.07 Andre Jones, charged with aggravated robbery (should be armed robbery).
09.13.07 Tyrell Gatewood, charged with misdemeanor possession.
09.17.07 James Henry, charged with obstruction or retaliation and tampering or fabricating physical evidence. Both offenses are third-degree felonies
This is just a list of stuff the football players have or been charged with, no one was convicted!
The NCAA should not waste their time with idiots. Go back to it being a honor to get a scholarship on the grounds of the caliber of the student athlete. Don't waste my alumi money on thugs, no return for the money there. Make it to where coaches are more accountable and the AD's for recruiting good citizen athletes. It's a no brainer. And please don't give me the excuse it's all about ticket sales. Its all about the schools reputation.
What is this guy talking about, these guys are making millions more for the univerity than you could ever donate with you little alumni contribution.
no body here said they weren't 18-21 once. just because you are that age doesn't give you the right to take large amounts of drugs, steal from people, assault people, brandish guns and things like that. these kids are GIVEN a FREE college education and still act like street thugs. There are regular students that get expelled from school for some of the things these kids get into. I did some stupid stuff at that age but 90% was not a CRIME. The other 10% might have been criminal but I was NOT on a FREE RIDE TO AN EXPENSIVE INSTITUTE OF HIGHER EDUCATION. If I was you can bet your burnt orange BLEEP that I would have not done that 10%. people like you make me sick. if we don't hold these kids accountable and they make it into the NFL they end up like Pac Man, Tank and Vick and the countless others that think they have the right to do whatever the fukc they want. get a grip texas fan and realize that you are one death away from the ncaa handing down some sever death penalty type of punishment. with success comes scrutnity if you can't handle it, quit playing
It is Texas' fault that guys like Pacman, Tank, and Vick are in the league feel like doing what they want. Hmmm, I think it is the money, when you got money you are allowed to do what you want mostly, that is what America teaches us and this dude sounds like Dusty.
First I would like to say that I live in a town in Montana that has a div.1-AA team and the same problems happen here. Everyone wants to judge Texas like they are the only Univ. that has a problem with thier student atheltets. People need to get a life and face the fact that it happens at every university small and big and that even includes OU. You people make me sick, you think your team is so perfect and that your athletes dont do bleep and that your coach is a god of some kind. That university is no better than any other one and your coach BLEEP s just as bad.
The burglary and robbery charges are bad. But, let's be honest about the marijuana and DUI charges. They aren't doing anything that thousands upon thousands of other college students aren't doing. It's not smart on their part but I can't throw stones.
Well enough blogger bashing for one day, I liked the two comments at the end but I truly believe that similar to New York' s hip-hop police that Austin has a specific division for these football players at Texas. That is not condoning or saying that the"man" is out to get them but that is from friends who attended UT and my impression of the situations. People act like crime is not wide spread throught college campuses, it is. My point is that some of you all go way overboard and act like these guys don't make mistakes and that what they do off the field really translates to on the field performance. The best guys are not always the best players and it never will be that way. Football is a violent game and surprise violent #### gravitate toward it, so you all get off your moral horses and realize that these guys are eventually fazed out just not as soon as you would like them to be.
Huge NFL and college football fan who has controvertial views of most sport topics. Big Cowboys fan, from Dallas area but lives in D.C. so I am constantly tortured by the dilusional fans of the Deadskins!!
