Like most other bloggers around the country, I listen to talk radio and have strong opinions on most topics. I don't like golf, nascar, or UFC or any of that Billy Blanks/ Jean-Claude Van Dam mess. I hear the most ridiculous arguement for proof of the guilt of Pacman, Chris Henry, Vick, and Tank Johnson. The host claims that because three of the former cut their hair and basically because lawyers usually tell their clients to do so they are guilty of something. All except Vick had (dred)locks which is a coincidence since it is a popular hair style for young (black) adults. Look around the league and with the constant influx of young talent, the number of guys with these alternate hair styles has increased . I think eventually the majority( you know what I mean) will become desensitized to the hair styles but there is a stigma placed with it
Take for example, Cedric Benson, talented running back from Midland, Tx, anyone who is from Texas or has ever been to Midland should put that into perspective, how he was treated during the 2005 draft. You have to look at Ricky Williams and his career at Texas. Williams is the best RB ever to play at Texas, yeah I know Earl Campbell, he is in the NFL hall of fame and Rick is in the hall of shame, but in college and spurts in the NFL, Williams was great. He was the idol of many boys growing up in Texas that wanted to go to the University of Texas, and play running back and be as successful as he was. Benson was one of those kids. People looked at him and assumed that since he had locks and played for Texas that he was another Ricky, which was unfair and actually hurt his draft stock with Miami, who had the second pick in the draft. Funny thing is that a guy on the University of Texas team with locks has been drafted every year since.
I guess you can call it the "hair" card but from this guy, who was on that four letter network's radio station last weekend, it obviously means something. Not everyone with dreads is for the "cause", or a Marley so don't get caught up in appearance. So because these guy's cut their hair it might mean they have lice or something, it does not mean they are guilty as some of you might conclude. You all can follow Roger Goodell/ Lil' Bush into war all you want to but please do not come out like the senators are against him now when you were down with that pompous fame seeker known as the NFL comissioner.
Huge NFL and college football fan who has controvertial views of most sport topics. Big Cowboys fan, from Dallas area but lives in D.C. so I am constantly tortured by the dilusional fans of the Deadskins!!
