This years race for the NBA's worst record is a close one.
The Timberwolves are only hal####ame back from tying with the Heat. The Miami Heat's allstar Dwayne Wade is says looking forward to his team getting a high spot on the lottery, while the Timerwolves star player..hmm...I for get who he is...anyway, says it takes hard work and determination to win 12 games in a season but it's even harder to lose 48 games and keep your ego unbruised.
The next two match ups for the Heat look really promising, they play Golden State Warriors and Atlanta Hawks. Meanwhile the Timberwolves next game is against the Sacramento Kings and then Los Angeles Clippers.
So I was kinda surfing the Foxsports site to keep boredom away when I noticed that there was a poll asking fans to rank teams. I filled it out and cast my vote. Then thats when the results came up....
Okay tell me this how is the team with the worst record in the NBA ranked at number 6 out of 30? And then the number one team is ranked #10. I know there are haters out there but geez give these teams their dues. They play their a$$es off and get no respect. Hey I like to be fair so my vote mostly reflected how the standings look. But I guess people have their own opinions and are welcome to speak them even if they are overly biased.
Lately everyone has been talking about Kobe vs. Lebron. In both the MVP race and the race to the Championship. And there are a lot of you who bring up stats and clutch shooting in the matter. Some argue 'Lebron is better' at clutch shooting. He very well may be. HOWEVER, there is one stat that some of you over look.
The truth is the Lakers average margin of victory is +7.11 while the Cavs is -0.60.
Therefore Lebron is put into the situation of shooting for his life more often than Kobe is. So does that make him a better clutch shooter than Kobe? Well Lebron certainly has more practice time this year.
But that question leads to another question: which is more valuable being able to put teams away early or being able to hit clutch shots with 5 seconds left? Both Players are capable of doing the clutch thing. But are both capable of tearing out the heart their opponents with a fourty pt lead? I believe it is important to have both.
Anyways, you make up your own opinion I just wanted to look at the situation with a different light.
I know right now is sort of the time for award season hangover but I wanted to propose some new categories for sports awards.
How about Lump of the year? That award is given to people in various sports who are there just to take up room. Like how Kwame Brown was before Andrew Bynum got hurt. He was just there to take up space since there is this silly rule you must have 10 players on the court in order to play.
Or Who woulda thunk it award. Like the New Orlands Hornets being a big contenter let a lone a contender at all. Or Giants winning against the NE Patriots.
How about the Most Scandalous scandal you wish they would shut up about aready award? I think the baseball fans have a lock on this one.
Or the Most hyped sporting event that kinda just fizzled out award. I know a couple of Tyson fights that ended that way.
How about Sports that aren't a sport but should be considered one. Such as getting out of a phone call with your Mom/Grandmother without leaving them upset or angry, that one takes some real finesse and caller ID. Or Making a mad dash to the bathroom during halftime with 10,000 other people doing the same. That takes some real good manuvers and a strong blader.
Most dastardly display without a resulting penalty/tecnical/foul/ejection. This one would be fun to watch just seeing all the athletes mouth off to various officials or hack other players to pieces and then try to look like a saint when the whistle blows or flags fly. I think this is by far the most creative category.
The Team you sorta forgot was there award. Personally, I would give it to Indiana Pacers.
I was also thinking about the So Busted award but I think thats been taken already this year.
The Los Angeles Clippers life time achievement award. This one is for all those losers who keep losing in selfless effort to make other teams look good.
And finally the most coveted Sports bloger of the year award. This one goes to the blogger who has a significant amout of post that are well written and entertaining while holding down a full time job non-sports related. Also this blogger endures the daily dose of Whoops! and site failures to post a blog that inspires and puts a tear in the eyes of those who read it. I obviously do not qualify but lets hear who does.
What is the deal are they updating the site? Are there too many people logged in at once? Accidental virus upload? Or is it because it is a day that ends with the letter 'Y'? What the hell is going on? I would like some answers as to why I have to spend 10 minute just to post a dam comment. Is Fox Sports the Miami heat of sports blogs?
I know that there are a lot of people who are not happy with the recent trades and shake ups in the NBA but I am loving it and apparently so is the media. The attention on the Shaq trade leads to so much media hype between the Lakers and Pheonix. But if you look at the games in the recent past there isn't really any hype to be had. What I mean is the games are usually blow outs between the two teams either Pheonix blows out the Lakers or (most recently) the Lakers spank Pheonix. Right now they are just trading blows until things get real serious in the playoffs but then again they might not even play each other seeing that San Antonio and Dallas are still in the mix.
These trades just make everything so much more unpredictable its causing a bit of chaos in the West. I can see why some are angry; people feel threatened by the unknown. And that is exactly what the outcome of the Western Confrence finals is an unknown. The teams that the media haven't even said a word about may just come back and bite them in the you know where.
So list your long shots in your replies, who knows maybe, just maybe, they'll be the team that's the NY Giants of the NBA.
