Insanity from my side of the asylum.

Help, I need a topic!
Nov 05, 2007 | 2:07AM | report this

I'm stuck here in bed rest most of this week ( My first post op visit is Thursday), and even though I am half baked on meds, I am bored out of my skull. As such, I am looking for a topic. I do love my Huskers as most of you already know, but I guess blogging is more than a play by play run down of the worst coached team in history. I can only write of my desire to see that coach strung up so many times.

Since this blogging thing is supposed to improve my writing skills, and I am currently surrounded by many bright, creative and intelligent people here at Fox Sports, I thought why not enlist the help of the community in grooming my skills?

I am thinking I would like to try to do a bio.

Any suggestions on a person, or team, or whatever would be great. As I said, I would really like your impressions of my writing, and your suggestions to make it better or more (I don't know) entertaining? commercial? intelligible? What ever you feel would make it better.

So, help me out will ya?

Thanks,

D

I was thinking a biographical essay on someone related to sports.
As far as a personal bio, I removed my personal information as I already know who I am, and frankly there isn't much to tell that I have not already divulged here on the site. I took most of my personal entries down, not to hide that information from others, but because they really didn't have anything to do with sports. I did leave two personal entries. I left the entry right after my surgery where I let everyone know I was ok, and I thanked everyone for their support. The other was an entry about health care. That entry and the subsequent conversation, I felt, was a good debate that actually brought out some good questions about health care.
I would like to stick to sports here since this is a sports site. Besides, my life isn't all that exciting. As I once wrote, Have you ever seen Married with children? My life isn't that glamorous.

Is there any chance you would do a comparison of the former coach Osborne with your current coach? I'd like to know more about Coach Osborne. Just asking and thanks.

Hey Dank....I wasn't aware you were going under the knife. Hope you're back up and running very soon.

What about a bio of whoever you feel would be the best choice to replace Callahan and why that guy would be a good fit? It might be fun to do and you could maybe inspire some give and take with commenters....

e-mail me at mwalker30@horizonview.net and tell me how your surgery went. Seems you are getting by. So my guess is you did not have a spinal fusion. At least you are blogging.

If it's something comical you want to write about in terms of a sports related subject. Then how about the travails of the Dolphins ? From 16-0 and winning a Superbowl some thirty years ago. To now facing perilous mediocrity and quite possibly ending up 0-16. Then isn't there a chance of the members of that championship winning team being made to look ridiculous. Always cracking open a bottle of champagne when the last unbeaten team gets knocked off the rails. Well how about 'em now showing some real compassion for the franchise now and strappin' on their cleats and helping out their boys ?
That may well be the only way that they'll avoid going the entire regular season listless and end up winning a game.

Yo Dank,
I like the feel of your writing. But if you try to do something that is not from the heart, the texture and the feeling of what you're trying to say won't come through. So my advice is don't try to become another writer. Also, just keep writing. Like anything, you will become better with practice. One more thing, READ. The more you read, the better. Other writers will have a natural influence on you when you are reached through their writing. You can't practice this, it will happen automatically. I am not a profound writer, but I will become that over time. Hope to see ya there when I arrive. TimBuckTu!!
