This is the NFC West and how I think it is going to play out. For the record I do take into account strength of schedule, offensive stats, defensive stats, and the like. I have to say as I do these previews I'm dying for football to start. I'm willing to watch little league football at this point. I would watch a game between the Bears and the Falcons like it was the Super Bowl. Anyways, here it is.
Arizona Cardinals 8-8
I'd like to see Arizona go with Kurt Warner as the starter, but I'm pretty sure they are going to give Leinart yet another chance. I won't go so far as to call Leinart a bust but he sure has not lived up to the expectations everyone had when he was drafted. Warner gives the team the best shot of the playoffs but I don't see it happening either way. The offense is pretty decent, the WR are great and Edge is still trucking even after I would have thought he would have gone the Shaun Alexander route. The guy is still playing strong after so many years in the league with 1200+ yards last year. The defense is solid, and added a few good rookies this offseason and I think they will do a pretty good job. The problem is the schedule, which isn't easy. I see quite a few games that look difficult as can be. I just hope they beat NE.
Seattle Seahawks 11-5
Seattle of course is defending division champ, and is going to repeat this season. They added 1 solid runner in Jones and 1 journeyman who can get the job done in Duckett. They have a good receiving corp and alot of options to throw to. Engram is getting up there but even he falls off this year they have other to take up the slack. Love the defense, gonna pressure the QB all the time, force bad throws and make the INT. They are also playing for the coach who is on his way out and they want to win it for him before he goes. Seattle wins the West easily and makes at least the championship game.
St. Loius Rams 9-7
I don't see good things for the Rams this year, even if everyone comes out healthy and stays that way. The first 8 weeks I see 1 for sure win with a second that is a maybe. The running game is going to do well if Jackson stays well, but the recievers aren't the best. They have two backs that can catch and a pretty good tight end but that doesn't make up for a lack of depth at WR. The defense should prove pretty good, and the addition of Chris Long adds one more DE that can scare QBs. The second half of the schedule looks pretty easy with games against Atlanta, Chicago, the Jets and Miami and then a few more divisional games they might take, but the first half of the year is scary with NE, Philly, Dallas, and Washington. 9-7 is as good as it gets, and to me that is being generous by a game.
San Fransisco 49ers 5-11
The 49ers have the same team as last year! With a master offensive mind now running the show!!!!....who couldn't do anything in Detroit in 2 years with 4 good receivers and a half way decent QB. The Niners are looking at a long season trying to run Martz's complicated schemes with wideouts that aren't that great. Bruce is getting old, the only good thing is he already knows the way Martz runs things. Lelie has never produced, and never will, Battle can't carry a team on his own, and Johnson isn't a great producer either. Vernon Davis has never produced the way he can, although he might break it out this year. The backs are going to sit alot since this team is going to be playing from behind quite often. Alex Smith is a bust and O' Sullivan has no hope of saving this team. The defense is not great, and hardly even good. They can hardly take the ball away, can't score to save a life, and aren't sacking the QB enough. This team is gonna be in trouble, and with Seattle and St. Loius both playing well they are going to be scraping bottom barrell all season long.
I agree with these predictions 100% If the Rams stay healthy they are easily a 9-7 team. I expect this division to finally shed the "weakest division" BS. I see two teams from this division in the playoffs, the Seahawks obviously and most likely the Rams. The Cards have a legitimate shot but I'm favoring the Rams to get the WC spot.

I'm not sold on the Hawks ground game or receivers yet, but the QB and Defense are solid. Winning this division has been too easy. I expect it to be more difficult this season.
Let's hope the Jones/Morris/Duckett trio can be more productive than Alexader was.
pf-one must look good to be good!!!!lose that pic of that bad bad baseball team my god man get a hold of your self man!!! 49ers win the nfc west!!!gooo49ers
Another oblivious blogger that thinks he has something of substance to say...but proves overhelmingly that he knows very little and is even less capable of conveying what he knows.
Cards 8 and 8... and Seahawks 11 & 5...? ####.
Forty-Whiner fans will have a lot of fun in the postseason... rooting for their team to make a wise draft pick. Alex Smith will continue his two-year game of "keep-away" with his receivers. Oh, and that defense scares no one outside of D-II football.
Cardinals fans will have very little fun in the postseason... as usual. Matt Leinart has arguably the best 1-2 WR combo in Fitzgerald and Boldin, but until Cards fans realize that Edgerrin James isn't the answer and that O-line needs much more work to be competetive, the results will continue to be disappointing.
Rams fans will have a little bit of fun in the postseason... but their first-round playoff exit will kill that joy quickly. It will be a pleasure to watch Stephen Jackson healthy again, but the big offseason acquisition for the Ewes is Josh Brown, a placekicker. Not good.
Seahawks fans will have a lot of fun this postseason... because five consecutive division titles and one of the NFL's most dominant defenses will catapult Seattle to the NFC championship game for the 2nd time in four seasons. Seattle returns at least 10 of 11 defensive starters, and the offensive line will be more consistent with the addition of Mike Wahle. Throw in a young, athletic TE and a rejuvenated Julius Jones, and Seattle's only weakness is at WR, where they are pretty deep in talent if not in experience.
Is this for real???
Worst prediction I've read, ever.
For the Hawks....
You refer to Jones as "solid runner" HA! The Hawks dropped a has been for a never was. Seattle is better off starting Morris this season.
"good receiving corp and alot of options" What?? Hawks have decent talent at WR, but nothing special and ZERO depth. You fail to mention that Branch will not be back from his knee injury until mid-way through the season. Engram and Burleson are OK, but after those two are a bunch of nobodies. Some "options" huh?
I'm a Niner fan, but I won't get into the "same team as last year" remark. I could write for a half hour and make you look like a fool, but I'll keep it short.
I could talk about "Lelie has never produced", except for leading the league in yds per catch TWICE. And that 1000 yd season in 04.
"Defense is not great, and hardly good"... Ya, I guess being in the top 5 for RUSH YDS ALLOWED PER RUSHING ATTEMPT is "hardly good"
don't beleive me, check the stats. 9ers D allowed close to the least amount of yds per rushing attempt. You call Smith a bust, but not Leinart, check the stats.. Smith is even with, if not better, in the key stats with Leinart.
Oh wait, thats right, you're not taking stats into account. So this is the most uneducated prediction I've ever seen.
Do some research before you start running your neck!

P.Willis and the niners D is Solid. Mike Martz's offense will put up 21-25 points a game and keep our defense fresh. (3 names) Justin Smith, Manny Lawson, Patrick Willis.. = more sacks, more pressure, more picks for clements to take it back to the house, all day baby! The cardinals, lambs and seaguls don't wanna see us twice a year. there's not going to be alot of hype untill midseason. Niners 10-6 playoff contenders. other teams in the NFC West are just pretenders. hahaha
Boy they let just anybody write their opinions!
This guy is ssssoooooofar from earth I hope he left breadcrumbs. Dude...maybe your a seachicken fan or lambs, but If you know anything about football you would know that Frank Gore is not just a "back" and that if the Detroit Lions can be 9th in the league in anything,...We are going to explode. Finally our defense? You say ther're barely good? Um..ever hear of Banta Caen ever hear of Justin Smith ever hear of Nate Clements
how about the rookie of the year and tackling machine Patrick Willis. Manny Lawson and even our first round pick Kentwan Balmer. We have great personel on Defense so actually do your homework before you post up in our house...Hell we even have Reggie Smith (didn't he used to play for the Dodgers?)We have Keith Lewis, Michael Lewis Bryant Young (even if he stays retired) So know your __it it's the house that pain built. So check yourself 'for you wreck yourself!
ha ha HA HA HA ah ah ah!!!! I choked by laughing SO HARD! I cant believe the predictions you put down, Niners not having a good defense, Ok you are right , they are not going to be good, THEY WILL BE GREAT THIS YEAR!! And as for the Superbowlseachokes, Its going to be a 9-7 year AT BEST!!! 49ers win div at 10-6 with not much from the offense, But if the offense does do better than avg, it could be 11-5 or 12-4. Its going to be a sweep against the Seachickens and the cards this year and a split against the Rams , the only reason the split w/ the Rams b/c the Rams know what Marks does.
Se ya later Seachickens , your time is done! 49ers back to DOMINANCE!!!
Mike Martz offense, keeps a defense fresh? Lingmao! Even if they score, the offense, isn't on the field long! You have to score 35 points a game, with a Martz offense. I see alot of ints and field goals in the niners future.
I'm a guy from Detroit who is looking for entertaining things to read in these dreary times. Not only does our economy suck and the Big 3 are going bankrupt, but I'm a Lions fan. I'm hurting.
