Who Is The Best Athlete?
Jul 11, 2007 | 2:59PM | report this

Who can be called the best athlete ever? Out of the MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL, Nascar, Tennis and all the other sports not mention, who can be the one that can handle all of these sports?

Out of the MLB, NBA, NHL, NFL, Nascar, and Tennis all have athletes that have to train to run and react to anything from catching to kicking to hitting the ball. To do all that and still continue for many more rounds is amazing.

In the MLB, you have guys hitting 400 plus foot homers and making unbelievable catches. Guys that collide into each other to make a catch or score the winning run. So true athletes they are.

In the NFL you have guys that throw over 50 yards for a touchdown. You have receivers and running backs that make unbelievable catches or runs that can break for over 200 yards a game. So true athletes they are.

In the NBA you have guys that can nail a three pointer with their eyes shut. You have guys that can sky it out to slam one down. Shoot the game winning basket with 2 tenths of a second left. You have guys that can sprint up the court in less than 5 seconds. So true athletes they are.

In the NHL you have guys that can slap a puck at over a 100mph in to a net. You have guys that can skate over 50mph to the other side, guys that slam each other into the walls and continue to play. Goalies that are not afraid to stop anything that threats to cross the red line. So true athletes they are.

In Tennis you have players that hit a signal ball at a 100 to 140mph. Players that have to cover an entire side to keep playing and to earn a point towards victory. Players, that fight through injury to last just one more point. Players, who fall, but get up and continue to battle with the other competitor. So true athletes they are.

In Nascar you have drivers that deal with over 100 plus degree temps inside the car. Drivers that flip they’re car and get out with no bruises. Drivers who can endure 500 miles, 4 hours, and competitors that run into them. Drivers that can win a race and still get out of the car to climb a safety fence or do a back flip. So true athletes they are.

Out of all these sports you have athletes that endure conditions that others don’t. Now the question is for you, Who is the best athlete of all? Can you determine which man or women has the skills to endure all conditions sports have. Which athlete can be called The Greatest ?

First of all, temps in NASCAR cars don't get to be 1000 degress, the drivers would melt-that was a typo right? As for best ever, I go with Roger Federer. It is the sport that requires the most agility, speed, strength and cordination. He is the best at the best sport.

By the way, what about soccer? It's much more of a sport than NASCAR.

Well a driver in Nascar has a lot more to deal with Physically and Mentally than a Soccer player. I didn't put soccer anda few others cause I was sure on how to word them and I don't watch them to much. I want to see a soccer player jump in a car for 4 hours and a car inside can get over 200 degrees, i did miss spell that part.

NASCAR has no athletes... they drive fast and do it very well... athletes not... I would put up pro boxer or pro hockey player any day against anybody... or some of the UFC guys now... highly athletic... NASCAR NOT!!!

NASCAR isn't a sport, it's a motorsport.
We'd have to call the car the athlete.
Jockeys aren't athletes, either.

I'll pick A-Rod as the best of the rest.

I'll go with Steve Price....and yes, I know that will be the only vote he gets since you guys have no idea who he is or what sport he plays (Rugby League by the way), lol

After that, I'll go with Simon Black from the AFL (also a sport most of you'll have no idea about, lol)

Well, I'd go with soccer, or NBA - lots of running in both those.

a soccer player averages around 6 miles per match, the on-ballers in AFL cover about 9 miles....whatever way you look at it, you have to be bloody fit to do either, lol

I wanna see someone from each sport try out Nascar. I bet you that they couldn't handle the heat nor the arm and leg craps they get. Sit in a car for 500 miles and not just turn left, but avoid wrecks, get loose in the corner or being able to go without fluids for most of that time. Drive on a day that 85 out and in the car it would be like 200 or some. These drivers are athlete's, ask your favorite player and they'd say probably the same or close.

The main problem you have going is that you are trying to compare physical ability to mental ability. Driver's are controling a machine, were the others are controling their body. Physical fittness is required to be a success in any sport, but your compairson is not "apples to apples".

I pick Hulk Hogan He is the epitomy of an athlete.

High on steroids and pumped up pecs but no brain>>

Bayoudog: A pro boxer is an athlete. Yeah right.Boxing is a throw back to the Roman gladiators. A so called blood sport only for the excitement of seeing some one get his brains beat out of his head. With the gladiators, it was getting the sword in the chest. All the boxers I have seen after a few years in the ring end up with a lot of loose marbles for brains.

BubbB: DEI racing said it right 100 plus degrees not 1000 plus degrees. Read the frigging text. He asked who is the Greatest athelete? Not is NASCAR a sport?

DEI: you are wasting your time defending NASCAR with these ball jockies. They are hopless.

DEI...NASCAR drivers sit in a car!
They're not athletes.

I'd like to see these guys in a batting cage, on ice, shooting hoops, etc.

I will say that NASCAR drivers are the closest thing we have to regular joes, but maybe it's because they sit in a car.

slshusker: have you watched the show Fast Cars and Suoer Stars? They take athlete's from other sports and test them to see if the can do 2 laps following a veteran. Most of them can't get over 150 and have a hard time controlling the car.

Photogr: I did have a 1000 degrees, but he told me about the error. I hit to many zeros, but still they lose more weight in in 4 hours than any other athlete would doing their sport for 4 hours. People are so stupid not to see these guys driving on the edge of life or death.
