The TV ratings are in for Sunday's Super Bowl. Interestingly, for a game the vast majority of people on this site said they had no interest in watching because Indy and/or New England was not in it, it scored the biggest ratings in 10 years -- nearly 91 million viewers, that's 5% more than last year's audience. In fact, it's the second-most watched program of any kind in the last 10 years behind Super Bowl XXX, where the Cowboys beat the Steelers in front of a television audience of 94.1 million. Seems the Steelers may in fact have a case for being America's team.
I don't know why anyone was saying they were not going to watch the game. No matter who is in it each year, I watch the Super Bowl. It is the one night where my wife let's me just enjoy sports and she chases the kids. Most men I know were watching the game, and many women too.
I don't ever understand the ratings system. Does this mean that they are watching my viewing habits from afar? If so, the shemales thing is my wife's. haha
There are more people in the country this year, but I would like to know the percentage. And you can count me out of the 91 million, college baseball on Sunday, gotta love it.
I heard this fact... and then I heard another interesting fact independent of the game, but relating to it: bad weather was seen in many areas; snow, cold etc. This caused many people to stay home rather than attend a Super Bowl party. This made for more TVs to be tuned in. I thought his was rather interesting in its' own right. I wonder if it has vaildity.
with hurricanr force winds blowing through Seattle the night before superbowl there were alot (almost 30,000) households in the Puget Sound region which didnt even get the game, how does that play into the stats
The Cowboys?.. Americas team? What a joke!! In my opinion. When you the enormous loyal following year after year after year that the Black and the Gold carry with them to each and every game they play, and the fanbase on all message boards and chat rooms everywhere on the web,and lets not forget the overwhelming TV ratings. What does that tell you? Can you say HERE WE GO STEELERS!!!
America doesn;t have a 'team' we're a diverse people, and as such, we all have different teams that we love and teams that we hate, I don't think you can really find a team everyone likes, it just isn't gonna happen.
A thought I just had, is there an olympic football team?
I have a really strange perspective on NFL fandom coming from Baltimore. The Colts left town when I was 5 and I never picked up a team because of that. I nominally root for the Ravens but they came to town after I'd left for college so it's hard to feel a real attachment. I just like to watch good football. I tend to follow east coast teams more because of geography, but I will watch anyone play.
I am a chick who lives for sports -- football, hockey, college basketball, lacrosse, you name it.
As a girl from Baltimore married to a guy from Pittsburgh, my football loyalties and love for my husband are put to the test every weekend. Fortunately, he's an understanding guy.
As is our dog, who loves his football, and my beloved Irish.
