Knicks get lucky...sort of
May 21, 2008 | 7:59AM | report this

Of course we wanted to get either the #1 or #2 overall. But since we didn't, we don't have to make the mistake of drafting Jerryd Bayless, another shoot first PG (like we need anymore of them on our roster) or O.J. Mayo, who I think is the new Mike Dunleavey (decent but not good as you thought he would be and definately not worth a top five pick ).

Now the Knicks can keep their fingers crossed that three other teams will fall asleep at the wheel and not draft Danilo Gallinari  who aside from being the third most NBA ready player in the draft, fits right into D'Antoni's coaching style.

Brook Lopez is going to be a solid NBA player but will not have the impact worthy of a top three pick (see Andrew Bogut, Marvin Williams).

Eric Gordon...I don't think so.

Russell Westbrook...h**l no!

Kevin Love - yeah but not if Gallinari is still on the board.

Donte Greene is this year's sleeper in the lottery. I watched this kid quite a bit playing at Syracuse and if he gets coached right he will be a stud. Allowing him to only have to move right down the road from the Carrier Dome to MSG will help his cause as well.

But if the Italian Stallion is available we should get him before we over-think the pick
