Alabama was penalized for improper recruiting, which the NCAA later stated shouldn't have happened because they didn't have actual proof.
Auburn was penalized or somthing that I can't remember and it probably cost them a National Championship.
Oklahoma Penalized theirselves when they discovered a problem with players recieving money for work they didn't do. The NCAA's reward for this was Hey thanks for being honest now we are gonna screw you by taking away you wins that year.
USC has a player, (who's name I won't mention but his initials are Reggie Bush), who's family is given a house and money to pay the bills. The player actually agreed to pay the agent a settlement to keep it out of court when they family didn't pay the rent. The NCAA says, wait they didn't say anything because USC is the Media's Darlings.
Why do some many teams recieve penalties and sanctions while others, who ignore the problems and don't cooperate with the NCAA suits, recieve nothing but a good sweeping under the carpet. As is the case with the whole reggie bush ordeal.
If the NCAA weren't full of crooked bigots then they probably wouldn't even exist. Do something about the USC case or I say start a revolt against CFB until the NCAA cleans their own house and penelizes theirselves.
CrimsonTide, while I am a fan of Reggie because he plays for my home team I can't ignore what probably has happened with the whole Reggie and USC thing. The NCAA seems to be doing just that. Probably in hopes that if they ignore it long enough every one will forget about it.

I've said it before and will say it again...the NCAA is a joke and needs to be abolished. They are a PR Director's nightmare. The players don't like them, the schools don't like them, the coaches don't like them - it's crazy!
CRIMSONTIDE, you know all that you stated to be facts, or just what you are reading from the media? You personally know the supposed agent in question? Just curious. Until its over, everything is just hearsay, kinda like miles going to mich., patrino staying at u of l, nick satan staying in miami, you know vwhat I mean? Gambit, kinda looks like you are HATIN again! Maybe, just maybe, there isnt any or enough evidence for them to take action! You cant ALWAYS believe what you read in the papers.

CrimsonTide,
Judging by your spelling and use of grammar Alabama is failing in both football and academics. By the way, how can the NCAA be biggots when Reggie is black.
andysell....are you serious? You knock on the authors' and Bama's academics then you show us all your lack of intelligence."how can the NCAA be biggots when Reggie is black" being a biggot has nothing to with race,Einstein.
DOUBLE STANDARDS!!!! as you pointed out USC?? just like many players have coaches so paranoid they might lose if they sit a player who broke a rule???? we cant afford to not have him play??? hey #### your player broke a rule!!! ohh in this case that dosnt apply????
and excuse me for my broken record thoughts on the BCS.. i still say that if they had had their way this past college football season. notre dame even with a sad record would have gone to some bowl!!!!!
The NCAA is an organization that is capricious (inconsistent) as a few of you have pointed out, and they are among the worst of the political correctness mongers that have infected our society today. The worst thing about their current apparent authority is...who is actually going to hold them accountable but the courts?...or limit their jurisdiction...does anyone think that it should be their mission to attack all schools with Indian related names...I do not but they most certainly are. I hope that some deep pocketed people can file effective litigation against them that will force them to establish standards of consistency...and be held accountable if they do not abide by those standards.
The NCAA must exist because there must be a watchdog organization to control abuses that would most assuredly occur if they did not exist however the NCAA must be held accountable as well.
I don't know if USC or Tennessee deserve sanctions because I do not posess ESP but I do know that BAMA was punished unfairly and disproportionately.
You have a point wilson. That is until you consider that Reggie has people in the court room flashing a pistol at the guy who gave Reggie's mom and stepdad the house they were living in, or the fact that back when the news came out they sure moved out of that house like it was on fire.
well as long as there is money to be made in college football they will be people /schools willing to win at any cost. As for players that take payoffs most of them know they will be long gone by the time the ncaa comes calling. Also if you pitch a few million of those NFL bucks there way they will be blind to the whole thing.. Nothing causes blindness quicker and more often than the color green... it is said for me being a Auburn fan. USC should have never been in the 2004 championship game. However the BCS and NCAA went with the schools that draw the big bucks and not Auburn that earned there right by going 13-0 in the hardest confrence to win in. ..but every team can point to some way they have been robbed or mistreaded by the NCAA and BCS.That how you know something is not working ..nobody is pleased.
Crim...the problem isn't as simple as you state. Bush's parents weren't "given" a house...they signed a rental agreement, according to yahoo.sports. They also fell behind and didn't make payments. If the lease was "forgiven" because of Reggie Bush's status, then HIS PARENTS, NOT REGGIE, received benefits.
Further complicating the matter is whether or not USC was aware, or should have been made aware of his parents' living arrangements. If they didn't know, or had no way of knowing, then they did not lack institutional control.
The problem is for the most part, Bush's parents received benefits. Plus, no one has seen any proof of the allegations. TarnishedHeisman.com said the would show receipts of Bush's hotel receipts while on trips, but the signatures are not even close to validated signatures by Bush.
Add in a felon as a witness, and you have a possible shakedown, which is what Bush has implied. Is he guilty? Who knows? they are taking forever on this which is unfair. If the can't nail the school, then move on.
as a side note...I think the NCAA is de####able, especially after what they did to the Sooners recently. Finding them guilty after self-reporting and giving them the same penalty as if they hadn't self-reported was outrageous. In essence, they give no incentives for any school to try and report problems they find. It's downright disgusting.
THOUGHT OF THIS. NCAA puts sanctions on schools after the kid that done wrong has already graduated! The punshments affect all the innocent kids that will play in the following years!! This is like puting me in jail for something my dad done when he was a kid. If the school done wrong impose fines on them, Go after the kid and the ones responsable for the wrong done. The way that the NCAA has done things is wrong,Thay have too much power almost killing good sports programs with unfair sanctions. I am agensed the NCAA and think we need some other more fair way of fixing this problem. Maybe the coaches from the other schools should be the ones to impose sanctions by vote or something>>>WE NEED A CHANGE
