Hinrich, though he can dish the ball, is not the right fit for the bulls. In no way am i saying he is a bad player, for he is one of my favorites on the bulls, but we bull fans need to see someone completely unselfish and willing to give up the ball rather than set themselves up. Alas, Derrick Rose. He is a pass first pg who comes around once in a blue moon. He is strong and has a 40 in. vertical, not to mention probably already one of the fastest players in the league. With these kind of physical attributes, he is able to drive into the lane and crash defenders to set up shots for any of the bulls magnificent shooters, aka Ben Gordon, Leul Deng, Andres Nocioni, Larry Hughes, etc. By doing this, you somewhat eliminate the need for a dynamic front court presence. Back to Rose. As i previously stated, The athletic ability of Rose is off the charts. This being said, he had to be drafted by the bulls. By signing Vinny Del Negro as the new head coach of the bulls, you brought in a coach who wants to run the floor and play tenacious D to set up your offense. Derrick Rose is honest to god the perfect point guard to run this type of team. He is extraordinarily fast and unselfish and i have yet to mention his D. At memphis, he was often placed upon the other teams best players. In march madness alone, he took on the likes of DJ Augustine and Russell Westbrook, both of which were in the top 10, and basically took them out of the game. This is a difficult feat for a young player, and he managed to do this at a high level all year. So, when you factor in his athletic ability, his defense, and his winning attitude, he was the absolute, no doubt in my mind, right pick for the chicago bulls in the 2008 nba draft with the first pick.
