I listened to part of the NFL draft today on the FAN. (I thought the Mets might be on ...wrong yet again. I going to get into the swing of this season if it kills me.) So I hear they're on the 11th pick and then they say that QB Brady Quinn still wasn't picked. I thought he would go pretty early...but what do I know - I know nothing about the NFL draft. I know this comes as no surprise. What surprises me is the method they choose to conduct this draft.
Isn't it kind of like being asked to the prom...but in the playground kickball team-picking style? Line 'em up, two captains pick. Good guys picked first, bad ones last. Now, I've had some experience with the "bad ones last" thing. I still have the emotional scars from the being picked dead last thing. I sucked at kickball...dodgeball...softball...pretty much anything with a ball. It's awful standing there as the line of kids is reduced...you're left kicking dirt around your Converse just to keep busy whilst the entire schoolyard is picked before you.
How must it feel for a Brady Quinn to sit through that in front of all those people and TV cameras, etc? I know, I know, he's going to be rich but still. How awful. I read they moved him to a back room after he missed the expected 9th round pick by the Dolphins.
Why can't they just pick em and tell them by phone? Why must they sit there? It's just another reality show, isn't it? I dunno.
I should never have put a site-meter on my other blog. I was surfing around and found a sports blog that won actual blogger awards. They get 8,284 hits per day. I've had like 8,000 in my whole 2 1/2 years blogging! He got 450 comments for one post! (OK, they put up a photo of a hot chick (you're welcome) as bait, but still!) I think my highest comment count was like...35. And half of them were from me!
Sigh.
I have to be more controversial....more edgy. Add photos of hot people in minimal clothing. Something. I have no idea how many hits we get here. If comments are any indication, I think I get ten per day. A good ten (hi guys!) but still. Sigh.
OK...controversial...edgy..here goes...
I really hate the Food Network's Giada De Laurentiis. I am sorry but who cooks in a low-cut silk blouse without an apron? Come on...grease splatters, woman! Silk isn't disposable, ya know! And what's with the orgasmic tasting sessions? It's like...pasta, lady! Chocolate, yes, OK, I'd give you that, but pasta?? Give me a break. And the soft-porn background music has to go. Her recipes don't suck but I can't get past the whole I'm too sexy act. I could take her in a pasta smackdown anyday.
they bascially invite the guys that are projective to go early to be there at the draft...they dont have to.. it was Quinn decsion to be there.. At least they moved him to another room away from the Retarded New York press after he was skipped past number 9.
and it all worked out for the guy anyways.. he still went to the team he wanted and originally wanted him and now he has a franchise Left tackle to protect him...
I was impressed with the way Brady Quinn handled it all. Everyone else was shocked when the Dolphins passed on him, I can't imagine what he must have been thinking.
I remember last year, when Matt Leinart looked like his best pig died because he slipped to #10.
I checked out that blog. Obviously I have this whole concept wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong! I could get 400 comments. Of course, I'd have to start 400 blogs and hope I got a comment on each one, but I could do that. (Depression setting in).
I'm not sure I could handle the responsibility of 400 comments. How could I feed all those people and make them feel at home in my blog? Not enough time in the day, dudski...
pi31416..uh...well..thanks. perhaps you didn't click on the correct link for the hot chick, but hey, OK, I'll take that compliment (and print it and paste it on my wall). My other blog is highly boring. Far too boring to link to. No hotness there. Just mostly uh...food and gardening and photos of like...wilderness. Wake up...that's rude to fall asleep in a comment window. Wake up! Pi! Someone get him some coffee...quick.
Sports doesn't have to be all numbers and stats and testosterone! I'll share a slightly different angle on sports.
I'm a mom in New York. Go Mets, Jets, Knicks and Rangers.
