Warning to the NBA
Feb 01, 2008 | 1:40PM | report this

The NBA All-star rosters were just announced and it is shaping up once again to be a great game in which all the big name stars will get to play together and against the best the league has to offer.

I offer this warning to the NBA however, you better bring it strong this year. Last season's Vegas experiment was a complete disaster with more arrest than an season of COPS. Pac Man Jones was the poster boy of trouble, however there were untold hundreds of other arrest that took place at local strip clubs, bars, and throughout the city. David Stern has tried to clean the NBA up and make it look proffesional by insituting the dress code and encouraging more T's to be called to clean up some of the acts and language on the court.

I issue this not only because the NBA needs a good reputation booster, but the NHL just had its All-Star game and it was a complete success. A very exciting game, atmosphere, and yes there were even some celebrities starting to creep in, and this all happened without poster child Sidney Crosby. Combined with his MVP like season and a great performance in the skills compition and all-star game, Alexander Ovechkin has become a household name to anyone who watches sportscenter and the games MVP Eric Staal is in his early 20's as well.

Right now the NBA has nothing to worry about as they are still a few years ahead of the NHL, but be careful. More pathetic showings like last season's All-Star game and some of the rich executives that fill the seats at NBA arenas will soon be filling the seats of their local Hockey franchise.
