That's true, blame it on Christmas. It seams that year after year, the Habs show us all their skills and potential in the begining of every season, and by the time Christmas comes along, they show us how bad they can also be. So what's really hapening?
I think, in my hunble opinion, that the Habs are always eager to start the season, always are ready to start playing, they put Hockey and their job ahead of their families and loved ones and just focus on playing hard and work work work beyound their capacities driven by the adrenaline. But then the Christmas break comes in and puts a pause in their drive, they feel tired and over worked, and at the same time they feel good of what they have achieved thus far, the focus disappears, the adrenaline fades away, the rush is no longer there and laziness kicks in. And this will last till the trade deadline, mark my words, and then they will make another run for a place in the playoffs.
Problem is, this season is much different than the previous ones, because we have almost 8 teams fighting for 4 spots, and they are all only a couple points away from one another. So good luck Montreal!
On another note, and just like that i was thinking about how the players don't really care about the game that much anymore, how spoiled with money they have become and i wonder why are the GMs still signing them these stupid contracts, like the Samsonov - Kovalev - Koivu.... only to mention a few from Montreal... If i was a GM, first i'll take a long vacation hehe... no seriously, if i was a GM in the NHL, i would only sign my players to a bonus driven contract. Base salary of around 1 Mil. and depending on how much you achieve, you can get payed up to those silly figures of 5 - 6 - 7 - and 8 millions a year! I mean whatelse would make them want to work hard to earn their money? How many times we see players posting their worst numbers after signing a lucrative contract? Theodore reminds you?
Cheers! and i don't feel like re-reading this article to correct my mistakes, so i'll just post it as is!
Ok guys, I am not really trying to start any rumors here, that's not the point and i won't. But it's January, and this time around the season is in full blast, teams know their strenghts and weaknesses and start really thinking about the playoff run and their needs.
We all know that the Habs lack a 2nd line center, and we all know they have an extra Goalie and some extra D-men, so what should Gainey do to improve the team going into that stretch?
From all the rumors that i've heard, I disagree with trading for Forsberg, Fedorov and Comrie. I don't think those three really have much left in them. Maybe Comrie but i don't see him fitting with our roster.
Naslund i would love to have, the best trade possibility i have heard this season, and yes i don't mind sending Sourray in return plus a prospect and a pick. To tell you the truth, I love Surray and I know that we will miss him if we trade him, but let's face it; everytime the Guy gets in a fight, or falls on his arm or gets slashed or hit by a puck on his arm I get worried that his career might be over! I really think that we should trade him before he gets a final injury to that wrist! Hopefully he will never get injured, but seriously, the last one sidlined him for 1.5 years and took 3 operations to repair.
Now who needs a Goalie, montreal has 5 who can dress up for NHL teams in a year or two max! I don't see Aebischer staying, and won't be surprised if Jaroslav Halak or carey Price get shipped in a deal, dannis no. The only reason why is that Dannis has a bit of NHL experience and if we are to trade Aebs, then we need Dannis at least for a year or two.
During the World Junior Championship, TSN.ca & RDS.ca were transmitting all the games live on the internet, and at first people around the world could login and watch. The feed was amazing, the quality was more than acceptable. The final game, all of a sudden the service was only available for Canadian users only.
Two questions:
1- What's the use of having these feeds available only in Canada if the games are already live on TV? Wouldn't it make more sence if the games were available for people living outsite Canada like me, who could not find a possible way to watch the game they love?
2- Till when are we going to be able to watch NHL games live on the internet? Isn't the NHL constantly searching for means to gain popularity? Building a fan base? I personally know around 50 people in the country where i live now, who are willing to pay for a monthly subsciption in order to get the feed. I am ready. Why doesn't the NHL do something about it?
Finally, even the NHL.com site doesn't offer the fans much material, and what they do offer is really of bad quality. Who is running the show i wonder.
Thank you TSN.ca for always giving us top of the line service, amazing reports and flawless quality highlights of all the games.
After last night's game, the Habs will fall short tonight in my opinion. Last night was a very tough phisical and mental game that the Habs won, and then left right after it to Chicago, they probably barely rested and hit the ice for a short practice so they must be out of gas a bit.
If they want to win this one, they need to score first and fast and more than one goal.
Prdiction: 4-1 Hawks
This one starts on the wrong foot, one minute in the Hawks score. 1-0
Good to see Khabib back on track, I always admired this guy, Aebisher is doing not bad either tonight, except on that first goal. Habs need to score, and score soon.
Again Higgins? Are you shi ting me? This guy is on good pace so far, 1-1.
I missed all the action in the 2nd, had an unexpected visit, now in the middle of the 3rd, 2-1 Hawks on a power play i think.
This game has been a bit all about goalies i guess, I kinda missed the track there in the 2nd, but so far late in the 3rd it is about them.
3 mins left and still 2-1 Hawks.
1:58 PP habs, come on guys, pull the goalie and let's go for it.
Done, the Habs lose, not as I guessed, but really Khabi was amazing tonight as far as I saw.
Finally these three days off have passed. Let's go again.
Prediction: Habs 4-2
HAHA... The fastest goal this season for sure, 35 seconds in Ryder scores it... This line is really on fire, I just hope they keep going all year!
14:05 left in the 1st, the Habs have killed a penalty and almost scored shorthanded, Begin of course.
DAM.... So sorry guys I have no clue what happened last night, something went wrong in the building where I live and we had no cable and no internet all freekin night, I couldn't watch nor continue my Post... I woke up today and there were still no services, now I am back on and I can see that our Habs beat the Flyers.... YES
For all of you Flyers haters, the Habs have done it again... Although I feel that Aebisher had a great night, it doesn't take away the fact that the Habs have won 2 games on the road and tied the third. EXCELLENT start.
Next on, the hated Senators on Saturday, I won't be here for the weekend, I am celebrating my Bday with my wife away from home. See you all next week.
Hello all, My name is Jorj aka Ninoz aka Jorjino aka Wolf aka Isolater, the last one only used in online poker.
I have been following the Habbs for 15 years now, haven't missed a game nor trade nor gossyp since we won the 1993 cup. That season I lived one block away from the Old Forum on Tower Street and I was in the middle of the action, I was 19 and since, I haven't let go of my need for another similar experience.
I have been involved in a lot of Habbs hockey since, majorly organising pools discussing rumors, analysing games etc... I also make a good living betting online sports and playing online poker, my other big hobby.
I started this Blog because i like to give my opinion about my favourite team, and I like to have my opinion discussed. So your input is necessary....
