Ghana is giving the Czech's more than they can handle. The Ghanaian strikers are very mobile and the Czech defense is looking at little leaden footed.

The Czech back four is playing deep which is usually a sign that the defense is not too quick.

The Czech's are really missing Koller. Once they get the ball forward Lokvenc doesn't have the same touch that Koller does. If the Czech's are going to get back into this one then it might be down the wings although Poborsky hasn't been in the game during the first 45 minutes.

Bruce Arena rolls the dice. If O'Brien and Johnson for Mastroeni and Cherundolo doesn't work then this one could turn ugly. Three at back could back fire but the game is lost at the moment anyway.

The Czech's are going to be quite happy to hold the ball and to wait for a chance. Poor marking from USA on a free kick and it could have so easily been 3.

The US has a tempo to their game unfortunately it is a slow tempo. They are never going to break down the Czech defense playing at this pace.

An hour gone and there is nothing to indicate the USA can comeback in this one. The Czech's are very comfortable. Every third USA pass is a chip - it is a complete waste of possession.

In the space of one minute we see the difference. Convey has a chance that he chips into the box only to have it intercepted. Nedved in a similar position, finds Lokvenc, and creates a half-chance.

Brian McBride isn't in this game. When the ball is played up to him his first touch has been poor and that means he is unable to bring the other US players into the game.

A killer goal from Rosicky a poor clearing header from Onyewu drops to him. Reyna can't close him down quickly enough and the Arsenal player scores an absolute cracker. Apart from the two defnsive mistakes the US isn't playing bad football - just very ineffective football.

Nice and pretty but very predictable. Koller goes down holding his hamstring and he will be out of the game. This could have reprecussions in game 2, 3 and possibly later. A big blow to the Czech's WC hopes. Czech team size drops 2 inches as 6' 5" Vratislav Lovenc (Salzburg) replaces him.

Half time - USA needs to provide Brian McBride with some support and the team needs to be balanced. There is no natural width on the right hand side and with Nedved playing inside there is no reason why the USA can't make inroads down that side.
