Canada's under-20 team beat Scotland 3-1 in a warm up game in Vancouver on saturday evening. Late last week

CBC TV (Canada's public broadcaster) released the FIFA World Cup Under-20 TV Schedule.

Kevin Eason started off the rumours of a possible Arsenal takeover….. and Monday’s edition of the Guardian says that Colorado Rapids owner Stan Kroenke is financially stalking the club.

England's performance aginst Israel is of course a hot topic.

Richard Williams questions Steve McClaren’s tactical abilities.

Gordon McQueen’s chalkboard is no more sympathetic to the embattled Steve.

James Lawton has had enough and calls time on second-choice Steve.

Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor has been kicked off the Togo national team. The last time Adebayor went head-to-head with coach Stephen Keshi the coach was fired. Keshi has returned and this time Adebayor has gone.

Gabriele Marcotti on the long road that is Euro 2008 qualifying.

It looks as if Marseille will not be sold after all.

A dilemna...

I'm not sure whether I should watch and blog the France vs. Togo game or South Korea vs. Switzerland. I am tipping towards South Korea but I am willing to go with whatever is the popular will.

Any preference?

Last five minutes

I don't think the commentators understand how inmportant it is for the Swiss to get another goal. They are talking about Switzerland needing to hold on to a 1-0 lead. Or do I not get it?

Frei off replaced by Lustrinelli - Frei looked spent.

Barnetta scores a massive goal for Switzerland with 2 minutes left. The ball was worked across the Swiss penalty area and Barnetta struck the ball very well.

Now the pressure will be on South Korea and France. A tie in the last game puts Switzerland into the last 16.

Switzerland was the better side but Togo will be upset at the penalty kick that they were denied in the first half.

Second half
Jun 19, 2006 | 7:40AM | report this

Switzerland is dominating the second half so far but Togo is dangerous on the break. Agassa has just pulled off one of the best saves of the tournament from substitute Yakin.

With a little less than 15 minutes to go this one is interesting. Togo need at least a draw to stay in contention for a place in the last 16. If the scores stays as is then Switzerland needs to beat South Korea in order to qualify - if France can beat Togo by two. If they conceed an equalizer then they still need to beat South Korea unless France don't get the result they need.

It's all very confusing. Any way Streller - a striker for Cabanas - a midfielder would seem to indicate that Kobi Kuhn is looking for that extra goal.

Togo vs. Switzerland

Switzerland may be leading 1-0 but they were very lucky to have not given away a penalty. It looked like Degen clearly triped Adebayor with a trailing leg to me.

The Swiss can't afford to push forward in numbers or Togo looks like they could pinch a goal or two on the break.

France and Korea - full time
Jun 18, 2006 | 2:13PM | report this

The Koreans fitness told on the French in the last quarter of the game. For the second game Korea has come back to get a result so that has to say something. The French must be kicking themselves letting that one slip. Zidane picked up a second yellow so it is possible that we may have seen the last of the great man on a soccer field.

The Switzerland - Togo game tomorrow becomes very interesting and the French may have to rattle in a few goals against Togo if they mean to move on.

Man of the Match – Lee Woon-jae for no other reason than a terrific save from Henry, low to his left, in the second half.

Full time - Korea 2-1 Togo
Jun 13, 2006 | 8:02AM | report this

A classic game of two halves - not a classic game however. Korea's fitness paid off against 10 man Togo.

Korea becomes the second country to come back from a goal down to win.

I guess the "he's short, he's fat, he going to get the sack, Advocaat, Advocaat" chant has to be put on the back burner for now.

Man of the match - Ahn Jung-hwan, he's back!

Togo is under the cosh
Jun 13, 2006 | 7:34AM | report this

South Korea is getting the ball wide and stretching the Togo defense. One-way traffic at the moment. You can see Togo wearing down and there is another goal or maybe two in this for South Korea.

And here it number two. Ahn Jung-hwan - Italy's favourite Korean - scores a corker from just outside the box.

Seventeen minutes to go.

Korea back in this one and Togo down to 10 men

Abalo is sent off after a foul on the edge of the Togo box. Chun-Soo hits a nice free kick and the Togalese keeper Kossi Agassa is caught wrong footed.

South Korea now has their dander up.

Half time

Togo has absorbed Korean presssure but when they atack they look more liable to score. South Korea is playing a very typical #### Advoccat style - competent technical football but with no cuttig edge up front.

At the moment the South Korean attack is as about as sharp as a rubber knife.

This isn't the team we saw four years ago.

South Korea vs. Togo

Nearly half an hour gone and if ever a game needed a goal then this is it. Woeful stuff on show up to now.

Thank you Mohamed Kader - well taken goal. A long ball splits the Korean centre backs and Kader latches on to it, brings it down and drives it in at the far post. Kader has a Henri Camara-type look to his play.
