Bobby –1. Many would seem to have a very poor grasp of what constitutes dominance. One win this decade hardly represents dominance.

2. Yes.

3. Until they have money in the bank they are trying to bluff their way in the door. There is a large chasm between fans expressing a willingness to put money up and actually writing the cheque. There again 100,000 of them could borrow the money from the bank which is no more ridiculous than what Hicks and Gillett pulled off. (Couldn't resist the notion that the ESPN commentator missed a golden opportunity at the end of the game today when the cameras panned over to Hicks. The comments was something like "owner Tom Hicks must now take his Liverpool team to Stamford Bridge next week..." Should it not have been "owner Tom Hicks must now take his half of the Liverpool team to Stamford Bridge next week..."

4. There are always teams on the lookout for a savior so I cannot see Ince staying with MK Dons much longer. He could take a shorter route to the Championship I am sure.

5. Three late equalizers doesn’t hurt but I think that after what he showed for WHU late last season there are not too many people surprised.

Gorn – 1. Your opinion on whether Fake Ronaldo's PK technique is caution-worthy/unsporting? Seems to me that it's not much, if at all, different than if he just took a shorter run-up. Is there another line of thinking?
2. What sources do you use to do yer research (ie: top away goal scorer in BPL in 07-08, etc.)? Any links appreciated!
3. By how many goals will LFC beat Chelsea in both legs of the CL semi?
4. There appears to be a few quality strikers available this summer (Berbatov, Huntelaar, Villa, Henry, Crouch & hell even Ronaldinho). Do you think this will create a bit of a market correction in transfer prices? Or will this be the priciest market in years? I know you don't like to speculate on things like specific transfers, just wondering yer general feeling on what you anticipate happening, especially w/so many top teams rumoured to be changing managers....
5. Do you think MLS needs a marquee team or 3 to stimulate rivalries/dynasties like the BPL has? Not advocating a class system exactly, but maybe more along the lines of brand development & recognition. Beckham helps, but if his team is pants, it doesn't help MLS. Further, MLS seems not yet able to simply throw $ at players to solve the problem like NASL did.

Maybe MLS would be served by having more than one team in a big city like NY to create a derby. Thoughts?

6. Dis/agree that there are at most 3 Canadian cities than can support an MLS team?

Bobby – 1. Nothing wrong with it whatsoever.

2. I hunt through stats sites. There is not one that has everything and in some cases the information doesn’t seem to exist. Most of the time it is a case of getting raw information and adding things up. I don’t think I use any sites that I or others haven’t referenced before; BBC, Fox, Telegraph, Soccerbot (probably my favourite), soccerbase.com, premiersoccerstats, RSSSF, channel 4 are the normal haunts. I also buy the European Book of Football each year which contains a statistical recap of every league in Europe plus international games.

3. Leading the witness – can’t have that. And do you now wish to rephrase the question after today?

4. Prices aren’t necessarily dependent on supply but are more influenced by money in the system. In the last few years that has been Premier League money and there is no indication that the money will dry up. I would also suggest that managers are not looking for strikers per se they are looking for specific types of strikers depending on their needs.

Berbatov is going to give you imagination, silky skills, and the ability to lead the line. Crouch is going to provide you with a lethal five yard pass back towards his own goal and ….come to think of it how many goals has your list of quality strikers actually scored this season?

Huntelaar 34 goals – we know from experience that goals in the Dutch league do not necessarily translate into goals in bigger leagues and he his coming up on 25 years old and nobody has made a real move for him yet. Wonder why? Berbatov 15 goals but also offers more. After that there have not been many goals from the others.

 5. Use the words “brand development” and you are not off to a very good start. Rivalries do not come from plunking a team or two down in the same city. They come from years of games, incidents and shared history.

Rivalries cannot be manufactured and it is not just about location. After all if your theory was right we would be watching the Greater London League every week. One more thing – the NASL did not solve any problems by throwing money at them; they just caused more problems.

6. Vancouver I have no doubt. Montreal is a strange market and I don’t know enough about it. The others - not a hope of being considered let alone being given a chance. It is after all an US league.


Ursusarctos - "Should the Moscow [CL] final turn out to be an all-English affair this season, there will be plenty of talk about the Premier League being the best in the world. It isn't. Torres is right [that La Liga is tougher than the Premier League because matches are more competitive all the way down the league, and that English football is really all about the top four.]" Yes. And it is too bad.

Do you agree with Wilson's (and Torres') analysis? How would you rate Serie A? Does it resemble the PL, in terms of the quality being consistently concentrated among the top (6 or so?) teams, or is it more similar to Spain? Leagues appear to tend to develop a quasi-permanent group of "haves", with the quality dropping off rapidly after-- Scotland's Old Firm and Portugal's Big Three are other examples.

Which major leagues would you consider to have the most turnover amongst the top group of teams, and the most competitive depth, over time (recent decades)-- and which the least? What factors might be responsible for differences between leagues? Or does the competitive depth of leagues go in cycles, with England at the lower end of the scale and Spain at the higher at this point in time (and Scotland doing its own thing)?

If so, will increasing financial rewards, such as CL prize money, tend to fix "elite" teams in place, or are there contrary factors that might help to promote intra-league competitiveness?

Bobby – I don’t care one way or another. You may as well argue about the greatest ever heavyweight boxer. At the end of the day it is what excites and engages you – it has nothing to do with a subjective definition of best.

(I notice another MLS is #### discussion has broken out. We have been around this one before but someone has yet to tell me what constitutes great football that they will watch and bad football that they won’t. Fans relate through building allegiances and they have no idea whether or not they will enjoy a game or will want to throw up when they pay their money or sit down in front of a TV. There is no such thing as all games in X league good; all games in Y league bad. When fans dismiss a league as being rubbish what they mean is they don’t relate to it. It has nothing to do with the standard of play even though they make it out to be.)

In terms of parity England use to be the exception in that there were a number of clubs that had a real chance of picking up silverware every season. The advent of the Premiership killed that extended era and the Premiership took on the same character as Europe’s other main leagues.

Take a look at the teams who have won leagues and cups in each country – it will closely follow the 80/20 rule. Eighty per cent of the silverware will have been won by 20% of the teams. The difference between success and failure long tern in soccer is the same as in business – the access to capital.

No guarantee of success but if you don’t have access to money through a large fan base (which normally means a team from a large city) you cannot compete in the long term. It works the same for leagues – that is why countries with large populations generally have better teams and more of them.

There are a couple of exceptions but they are exceptions, not the rule. I haven’t done the research but my guess is that the French league has probably enjoyed the broadest range of winning sides until Lyon started their domination.

The Champions League is installing or in some cases ingraining what could become a perpetual cycle of relative success for a relatively small number of clubs. Win their league and make it to the CL group stage generates money that their domestic rivals do not have access to; spend the money to improve the squad and qualify for Europe again etc etc.

Rosenborg had it down to an art for over a decade. Platini’s initiative to extend places in the group stage to more countries is in theory good and noble but it may also lead to a greater distortion at the domestic level.

MasMaz - I assume that tonight you will give us your opinion about Rooney being given free reign to do whatever he wants. If not I'd like to hear it.

Bobby – I can’t say that I have noticed any difference in the way that Ferguson is playing Rooney. He has been granted a lot of freedom all season from what I can see.

However, if you are trying to make some ridiculous comparison with Mascherano’s sending off against United then you will have to make a better case. If you can show me an example of Rooney running 40 yards to get in the referee’s face when he has already been given a yellow card and had no involvement in the incident then you might have a case – oh and your teammate has just been carded for yapping at the referee. Otherwise you might want to wait until you have a more credible comparison.

Neophyte - Did you see the Toronto FC/ Real Salt Lake match? It looked like the match ended with only one minute of injury time instead of the three minutes posted by the 4th official. Home cooking or poor clock management and communication from the center to the 4th official?

Bobby – You hit a sore spot. I opted to watch the Blackburn game, tape TFC, go out for the first kick about of the new season and then come home and watch three MLS games. Tape malfunction on the TFC game so the only part I saw was when I switched over at half time in the Blackburn match. I did catch the other two MLS games though.

Maybe the 4th official did as good a job programming his board as I did programming my tape machine!

Aldoray - Football clubs have a Manager and Assistant Manager and coaches. What are the roles each of them play? Does the manager give the overall plan and then the assistant and the coaches carry it out or is the manager always hands on with the squad and everybody else is just peripheral. Or is it different for every club.

Bobby – Unfortunately the answer is the old standby – it depends. Some mangers are out there with the squad every day, some occasionally and others hardly at all. I remember reading a feature on Martin O’Neill during his Celtic days and his view was that a manager can maximize his impact if he limits his contact with the players.

His theory was that with a lot of daily contact the messages that the manager wants to communicate are blunted and the motivational effect is dampened. I can only assume he still feels the same way.

There is a certain irony because that is a view from many years ago. Prior to Busby, Shankly, Stein etc. popularizing the idea of the “Tracksuit Manager” the preparation was left to a coach (rarely coaches!) and the manager would come in on game days to give the team talk. Otherwise he dealt with other things during the week.

JayAlves - Arsenal fans can sleep easy knowing Usmanov /=/ Abramovich from a money standpoint. Last time I checked Usmanov was worth 1/3 or 1/4 of Abramovich and considering how Arsenals profits are going might become an unrealistic team for him to buy assuming the board keep entering no sale agreements.

They floated this theory on WSD not long ago but they were off the mark on one point. They said maybe the board is being cheap on purpose to keep growing the club financially so they can’t be taken over. Thing is though the board on several occasions have dropped the huge money figures that Wenger has if he wants so you could hardly accuse them of being cheap.

Bobby – I don’t think that theory stands up. First off being debt free and enjoying the relative luxury of a fully paid for stadium did not save Manchester United from a highly leverage buy out from the Glazers. The same would hold true for an Arsenal club that is in a poorer position than United were because it still carries a huge stadium debt.

A case could be made that by improving the net financial position (not spending money) Arsenal are actually making the club a more desirable takeover target rather than turning the opportunists off. Companies that enjoy great balance sheets and hoard gobs of cash are often bigger and better targets for raiders than companies with huge debts.

Think about it from a lenders point of view and what would give you greater security –  your money to pay off someone else’s debt or go towards buying cash generating assets with a pile of cash already sitting there?

Samba 9 - In your opinion do you see Avram Grant delivering this so-called "attractive football"? Will he stand the test of time? As far as I'm concerned, this man has no pedigree and to compare himself to Arsene Wenger, when he took over at Arsenal, is laughable at the very least: they certainly are not birds of the same feather. Attractive football is in the eyes of the beholder, and I'd rather we just win whether its 1:0 or 5:0 "winning isn't everything; it's the only thing".

Secondly, which players do you see leaving Chelsea because of Mourinho's sudden departure? We know how much of a father figure Mourinho was to his players. His passion for the game and the genuine chemistry he had with most of his team translated into getting the very best out of them even under insurmountable circumstances. That is what Chelsea will miss most and that will severely affect results on the pitch unless they get another uniter. Who fits this bill; I just don't know. Finally, do you want to change you're season's predictions? I think you had Chelsea finishing first. If players do leave in January, even a Champions League spot will be huge task to ask.

Bobby –1. There is nothing in Grant’s background to indicate that he is up to the job. 2. I don’t see many players leaving Chelsea just because Mourinho has left. That kind of talk is generally knee jerk reaction from the media and there are very few examples of top-class players leaving a club on mass because the boss has been fired. 3. A prediction has to stay at prediction and isn’t something to change just because something unexpected happens. I think the doom and gloom around Chelsea is being overdone and people are forgetting that Claudio Ranieri made it into the Champions League with a team that was not as good as this Chelsea squad. The difference between Chelsea and the five placed team in the Premiership is far more than Jose Mourinho.

SynCrew - 1. Did you watch Juve-Roma; if so what did you think of the match? And how well do you think this Juve team will do both short and long term?
2 I missed the Friday's FSR and was told you mentioned Jose coaching Man Utd. Can you elaborate for me please? 3 What's your favorite Mourinho quote?

Bobby – 1. I watched the game on Sunday and enjoyed it.  In the short term, Juventus can certainly finish in the top four particularly given they do not have to worry about Europe this season. Beyond this season, they will have to spend some money if they want to be a force in Italy and Europe. 2. I said on Friday that I could see Jose Mourinho, taking charge at Old Trafford, one-day. 3. “There is no pressure at the top. The pressure's being second or third.”

Gabemar - A couple of years ago there was a club owner in Spain a Mr. Piterman coincidentally of Russian descent who bought Alaves. And announced that he had big dreams for the small club. He hired a manager and bought some players. The manager managed to put together a decent team who were competitive enough to avoid relegation from La Liga. But obviously to do so they played a cautious and tactically organized type of football.

Unfortunately Mr. Mr. Piterman did not like this, he wanted his team to play attacking and exciting brand of football. A tug of war for the control of the team ensued and just like in Chelsea the owner won. The manager left and another manager was brought in who was more receptive to the owner ideas.

Obviously the team started to lose more games with this new approach. The owner blamed the new manager because in his mind the manager was not doing enough to win while playing attacking football.

So Mr. Mr. Piterman decided to hire himself to the staff of his club so he could sit on the bench and tell the manager what he wanted done during the game.

I still remember a game against Real when Alaves fielded an ultra attacking 4-3-3 formation. The Owner in one end of the bench and the manager at the other end. Obviously Real routed them. Alaves went down, the fans rebelled against the owner forcing him to disengage from the ownership of the club. I wonder if we'll see Mr. Abramovich on the Chelsea bench sometime before the end of the season.

Bobby – Piterman was involved with Racing Santander before Alaves. I remember writing a story about his involvement. The Spanish Football Association would not grant him a license to be on the bench so he self accredited himself as a photographer and positioned himself next to the dugout so he could shout instructions to the official coach. Unless Abramovich starts taking his coaching qualifications unbelievably quickly he will not get any place near the Chelsea bench. I wonder if he can handle a camera?

Henry14 - q1. Can people blame Benitez for not playing Torres, if they fail to beat Birmingham with Gerrard, Mascherano, Pennant and other quality players, do you think Benitez is to blame?
q2. What do you make of Roman, being a tactical guru?
q3. What did you make of Tevez and Rooney on their first outing together?

Bobby – 1. Fans find it difficult to understand how you can spend so much money on a player and then not start him two straight weeks against teams that Liverpool should be beating comfortably. Benitez didn’t help his case by claiming that Torres would not have helped the Liverpool cause. As for who is to blame – if it is not Benitez who is it? 2. About the same as me being a billionaire. 3. That’s like asking a couple if they are going to get married when they’ve just gone out for their first cup of coffee.

Ringo - You used to mention on the report which teams had the highest average attendances in Europe. Could you give us an update?

Bobby – Some of the websites I used to get the information from either have stopped quoting attendance or the information is a bit suspect. The best information I  could find was from wikipedia and it lists the average attendances from last season.

CIAO - 1. Regarding Arsenal's profits from each game... Are they selling out each game?
2. What do you think of Mourinho taking over at Inter considering the dive in performance in Milan? I think Moratti’s could jump the gun knowing Mourinho is available now. If not, do you think Mourinho might take the post at Spurs?
3. Knowing Arsenal have a large sum for transfers, and Wenger's tight purse, do you think he may consider splurging for a top or up and coming keeper [i.e. Marco Amelia (age 25, Livorno), Igor Akinfeev (age 21, CSKA Moscow) or Veniamin Madrykin (age 26, CSKA Moscow)]? Can you think of any other goalkeepers that might be interesting choices? I think the two keepers from CSKA should be considered by most every top side as they are doing very good in European competitions.
4. Who do you think should be the next manager at Chelsea? I think Hiddink would be able to make out the mess and put RA in his place.
5. There is a lot of talk regarding United bringing in another striker. I think this would be wrong without giving Tevez the opportunity to build on a partnership with Saha and Rooney. What do you think?
6. Today Hierro was made the Sporting Director for the RFEF. Essentially does he now oversee the direction that the national side is headed and if the current manager is fired would he be the interim caretaker?
7. I watched some highlights of Giuseppe Rossi. He seems to be very skilled and creative player. I have never watched one of his games. How do you rate him? Why didn't other big clubs didn't make a move for him?

Bobby – 1. Pretty much. 2. It is almost inconceivable that Chelsea would pay Mourinho off and then allow him to take over at Spurs. Inter Milan is a viable and very possible destination – particularly if results don’t go Inter’s way in the next few weeks. 3. Wenger will give all three keepers a chance before he dips into the transfer market. Don’t be surprised if Lehmann is back as #1 within a month. 4. Hiddink should be considered the favourite and the odds will shorten if Russia fails to make it to Euro 08. 5. I think you have been hearing talk that I haven’t been hearing. They can’t do anything until January anyway so it is a mute discussion. 6. From what I understand his position is a new one and he will take over from Aragones after Euro 08 as Spanish coach. 7. I was surprised that Fergie did not give him a look at Old Trafford this season. He is a bit on the small side but he looks to be a good player to me. 

Ummufan - SAF seems to have annointed Queiroz as his successor. Is this likely to happen? Why JM as a replacement?

Bobby – I think Fergie is saying what he has to say. I don’t think it would be wise to undermine your assistant if that is his goal. Personally, I don’t see Queiroz taking over from Fergie when the Scotsman retires. Mourinho and Old Trafford seems to be a fit to me.

Craigyf - I’ve looked at the FIFA rules and still can’t see why the ref gave Juve the throw in; that was originally a Roma throw in; if Cicinho was time wasting he should have got a yellow, but he got no card. I think the ref made a monumental blunder but I’m not sure can you clarify?

Bobby – Referee’s rarely give a foul throw for stealing yards and a yellow card. A yellow card might appear if the player maintains one position and delays but rarely for creeping.

RINGO - One question about the Gabriele Marcotti piece, who is Dave Worthington? Never heard of him.

Bobby – Former Bolton scout.

Danielgregg - Let's say no internal problems existed inside Chelsea, that Mourinho and Abramovich were the best of pals and Mourinho had the freedom and authority Wenger enjoys. How long do you think Mourinho would've stayed at Chelsea even under the best of circumstances? Certainly he would've stayed longer than he did, but how much longer? I ask this because everyone assumes he would've stayed on permanently for many years had it not been for Abramovich's and Kenyon's meddling. Mourinho has always struck me as a brilliant manager who burns brightly for a short while, gets bored and frustrated and leaves. It's interesting that in the tunnel of Porto's Dragao stadium--where there are photos and tributes all over the walls of the 2004 CL-winning team--there are no photos and tributes of Mourinho. Mourinho to me does not seem to be a builder of anything that lasts.

Bobby – It’s not something we are going to find out anytime soon but there is a definitely a view that Mourinho might be more effective in the short term rather than a decade plus manager like Ferguson or Wenger. There again when you look at the length of time that Prem managers have been in their jobs then it is clear that Ferguson and Wenger are exceptions. If I am not mistaken Steve Bruce is now the third longest serving Premiership manager with 5 years services.

RINGO - On last night’s report you mentioned all the intelligent discussion on the blog, I assume that was not including Verbal....or myself.

Bobby – It is all relative!

 

Gongatore - Who or what team was the biggest surprise for you in La Liga this season?
Who do you think will win in the Gold Cup semis? Can Capello survive to coach another season at Real? Will FR be shown the door at Barca?

Bobby – I predicted Racing Santander would be relegated and they finished mid-table so they have to be in contention my biggest surprise. Recreativo Huelva and Getafe would also be worthy of consideration. If you need me to pick one then I will opt for Recreativo given that they had just been promoted.

I will go for a USA - Mexico final but I would not underestimate this Canadian side. Hutchinson and De Guzman in midfield are excellent players. If I was Bob Bradley I would try to make sure that are not allowed to settle and in particular I would play a quick player - Landon Donovan? - a bit deeper against the Canadian holding midfielder Martin Nash.

Nash is a fine passer but he lacks pace and when he doesn't have time he normally struggles. In Canada's case I would be trying to get a skilful player up against Onyewu rather than trying to match him with brute strength. Canada tends to stick De Rosario out wide on the left and he can drift out of the game for long stretches. If he came inside he might cause enough problems to create a couple of clear cut chances or get a set piece opportunity.

Capello will leave and I believe Rijkaard will go also.

Henry14 - Q1 Do you know what Milan are up to, the other week Berlusconi claims he want Sheva, and has $140m for Ronaldinho , and then Ancelotti was Henry, then Galliano wants Eto'o , who do you see them signing. 
Q2 What do you think will happen to Capello as coach, because Marca claimed 56% of the fans wanted Capello back
Q3 Do you remain adamant Henry is staying, even after dubious statements he has made which are so far from the one he said last summer and I quote "this is my last contract, the fans in England appreciate me even if they are not Arsenal fans something l can never get anywhere, l will never play in Spain"
Q4 - Who do you think will own Arsenal summer next year?

Bobby – A1 – Circumstances have overtaken the answer seeing that Milan signed David Suazo from Cagliari. A2 – I would have thought that an approval rating of 56% after winning La Liga for the first time in four seasons is hardly  a ringing endorsement or vote of confidence. I still believe that Capello will saddle up and ride out of Dodge. A3 – It’s silly season in England and I am taking transfer speculation with a kilo of salt. I think Henry will start the new season with Arsenal. Q4 - The same people that own the club now.

Quest5227 - My question deals with Manchester United (as always). I think we both agree that they could use another striker for the upcoming season. Who do YOU believe would be the most useful striker that they can get- realistically?

Bobby – Probably a fully fit Louis Saha – unfortunately he doesn’t come with a 100% health guarantee. I would be surprised if United make a move for a striker before moving some players out. Given the three new signings United will need to shave a chunk of money off their wage bill as well. Once they have decided who they have shifted and how much they get for them then we will have a better idea. The money being quoted for the likes of Darren Bent is silly. When you consider Andy Johnson moved for around 7M pounds last summer, 17M is crazy. 

  
Wyofc – I was reading the some of the articles today and the one about demands of Club and National teams caught my eye. Do you think they will impose a game limit? If so what would be the number and who gets to decided if they are all for club, all for national team or what breakdown? If you look – say the number is 52 games is the max – that is one a week – and it looks like the standard number of league games are 38, that leaves 14 for FA Cup, Champions/UEFA, National team duty, other tournaments. To me putting a limit on number of games makes sense for the human body/mind is concerned, but posses many many more problems between clubs and nations. Just kind of wondered your thoughts.

Bobby – It is an interesting thought but one that would also raise considerable problems beyond the club and country debate. How would account for playing conditions, or travel ala David Beckham, or the age of a player? Another factor might be how spread out are the matches.

Digity - Care to comment on Lalas' statements regarding the 'inferior' EPL product?

Bobby – Lalas works for a very large and successful organization – I’m meaning the company that owns the LA Galaxy. I would find it amazing if he just said what he did on the spur of the moment as opposed to a well thought out strategy. However, I would agree that the average English pundit is generally pig-ignorant about anything that happens in the football world outside of England.  But beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I have never understood the debate about what league is the best. Frankly, I don’t even see how you can compare leagues or why anyone would want to.

Maoze Reading - With Guadeloupe reaching the semifinals of the Gold Cup I was wondering what would happen with the CONCACAF spot at the Confederations Cup if they were to somehow win it all? Would the spot go to the second place team since Guadeloupe is not a recognized member of FIFA?

Bobby – My understanding is that in such a case the runner-up would get the CONCACAF place at the Confederations Cup.

CIAO - Do you think Capello will be fired? If so, with the instability, would any respectable/skilled player still consider moving to Real Madrid? I could see if they keep Capello last season would be considered a transitional and a successful period. So players may want to join Capello’s team. I could even see Kaka making the move to Madrid. Suazo was snatched from under Moratti's nose by rival AC Milan. Inter is perplexed. Regardless, I think it may be good for Inter as they should try to bring in players that will challenge for a starting position... Who do you think Inter should bring in to replace Recoba? And Adriano if he leaves? I personally would like to see Miccoli replace Recoba. And Cassano, Klose, Guti, F Torres or David Villa replaces Adriano. Cassano might be interesting. He will probably step it up a bit this season to regain his spot on the national team - at least I hope... Regardless, I think Inter should definitely keep Ibra and Cruz, they cannot replace them.

Bobby – I think Capello will leave. Some great players will still sign for Real Madrid because Real Madrid has been a mad-house for a while and it didn’t stop players moving there. The problem with your theory about players wanting to join Capello’s team is that it has never been for a longtime or unlikely to be in the foreseeable future Capello or any other coaches’ team. Real Madrid is always only two or three games away from a crisis and that means that whoever coaches Real Madrid will find themselves in a tenuous position. After all, if Capello’s termination clause had not been so costly he would have been gone earlier this year.

Do you think Inter is looking to replace Recoba? He has hardly been used under Mancini so I don’t see it as a great loss to Inter. Miccoli is a great little player and I never understood why Juventus never kept him around. Adriano needs to sort his head out and until that happens Inter is not likely to get market value for him. I’m not sure that there are too many clubs who would gamble on taking Adriano at this time. As for the possible replacements you mentioned – Cassano (it would a trouble for trouble swap at least), Klose (cannot see that move happening now), Guti (not the same type of player and Inter has signed too many floaters like him before), Fernando Torres (I don’t think he would fit with Ibrahimovic) and David Villa (more likely to say in Spain).
