FIFA Under-20 World Cup, Day 13
Jul 12, 2007 | 11:53AM | report this

It is the second day of the round of sixteen and if we can come close to the drama and excitement of yesterday, we will be doing well. I’m heading to the stadium to watch Argentina and Poland in twenty minutes and if I pick up any additional information I will be sure to pass it on.

The last time I watched Argentina live was the 1996 Olympic Final in Athens, Georgia. Nigeria won 3-2 in what was a classic encounter. The Argentina squad in 1996 contained the likes of Hernan Crespo, Claudio Lopez, Robert Ayala, Javier Zanneti and David Beckham’s (the obligatory mention this week) pal Diego Simeone.

Atleti_female - over to you on Argentina's chances. Any Polish fans that would like to contribute - feel free.

FIFA. Com has previews for Chile vs. Portugal, Zambia vs. Nigeria, Argentina vs. Poland and Mexico vs. Congo. I went 1 out of 4 on predictions yesterday (thank you USA) so another display like that I am going to have our cats Baggio and Shevchenko make the quarter final picks.

I'm at work at the moment, but here's a likely formation against the Poles:

---------Romero------------
Mercado---Fazio---Cahais---Insua>
Moralez--Yacob--Banega--Piatti
------Aguero----Zarate-------

I'll be home in time to send HT thoughts!

Vamos mini-Argentina!

I don't know if there are any Polish supporters on the site, but I think the Poles will play the same way they did against Brazil: play a tough, physical game and counter-attack at any given opportunity.

Well I've got to say that Argentina should win this game, maybe not by the same amount as the US did against the Poles but it should be more than the odd goal.

I just received the starting line ups. Zarate is injured and replaced by Di Maria. Poland has Fojut out through suspension.

I like di Maria; good technical skills and has a gifted left foot!

Bad break for Argentina, Poland were clearly offsides on their goal.

Amazing goal by Argentina. What a game.

Ugh! I turned off my TV because I need to head to class now and I missed the equalizer-- just watched the highlight now! Great goal.

So far, though, Poland have played as I expected them to.

Attack, Attack, Attack, Argentina!

Aguero's first goal was RIDICULOUS. Simply amazing.

Very entertaining game. Poland have nothing to be ashamed of. They played hard and lost to a very good team.

To bad Janczyk sullied his name near the end of the match with his stupid behavior that led to a red card.

I can't watch the 2nd half until very late tonight because of my class. Nice to read that Aguero is on the scoresheet! EDIT: Twice.

Vamos mini-Argentina!

(If he scores like that for Atletico Madrid this season, I'll be very happy.)
