Jonathan Wilson on the failure of Russian clubs to prosper in the Champions league after CSKA Moscow’s 2005 UEFA Cup victory.

This goes to show that we are stuck with penalty kicks as a way to decide games – God’s will.

The Knowledge in the Guardian has a list of the fastest recorded shots.

Ian Hawkey takes a look at the Real Madrid – Bayern Munich Champions League clash through the eyes of Franz Beckenbauer.

Michael Grant writes about the decline on Leeds United.

Rob Hughes – scouting for talent.

Gary Lineker on Cristiano Ronaldo.

British players’ behaviour abroad by Tony Cascarino.

And finally the draw for the quarter finals of the FA Cup…..

Middlesbrough or West Brom vs. Manchester United or Reading.
Arsenal or Blackburn vs. Manchester City
Chelsea vs. Tottenham Hotspur
Plymouth vs. Watford

Plymouth lost to Watford in the semi final in 1984 and narrowly missed out on becoming the only Third Division side to make it to the Final.

OK Bobby, I can see why seeding wouldn't work. For logistics reasons alone the draw has to be made before the replays are resolved. I can remember when second replays occurred just days before the next round.

I thought the articles lower down on the Guradian Knoweldge piece were a crack-up.

a supporters' association had been slow to hand over a £100,000 cheque to the club, and was told the money was being withheld for a rainy day. "A rainy day," spluttered Bates. "It's been #### pising down here for years "
- might be the best few lines Ive read in years!

Do you think we will begin to see lower level teams like a Leeds being bought by foreign investors? It seems almost a better investment to buy a team for 25 mil as opposed to 100 mil and use the 75 you saved to bring the club up.

I have always enjoyed Serie A football and as I watched the Fiorentina Catania game I could not help but be sadened. Continuing to play out a season that was proceded by match fixing and hit a climax with the calculated killing of a police officer. Whats the point? Continued TV money? Most teams in Italy dont care about there Gate anyway. Will the Italian authorities handle this situation any better that it did with the match fixing? All I hear is that Inters crown will be tainted, is it there fault that Juve Fiora and Milan cheated? As Celtic prepares to play Milan I cant help but wonder why are they even involved. They cheated on matches enough to get points taken away in there domestic league but didnt cheat enough to be kicked out of Champions league. That seems to be the message in Italian football. I dont think its any one teams fault it seems that Italian football needs a total overall and with the big money that exists now a days I dont think it will happen.
ps. this is not about being a Celtic supporter because if not Milan it would be some other giant

Q1.Bobby l have had my resevation on walcott, because l feel that for all his pace and glorified talent l feel that he is very poor technically.when l look at the type of player he will compete with nxt season like carlos vela and bendter who have decent pace but are right up there technically l do not see him making the grade. How do you rate him reguarding that he is called the buggest thing since wayne rooney?

Q2 Do you think bellamy and pennat really have a future at liverpool given that they have both been linked with booze this week?

Q3.What is your opinion on negative support for football in the uk like the glorification of having 10 men behind the ball.l have seen that a draw is glorified.l was just looking at how pundits glorify such performances do you feel it is these kind of performances that cause the gulf between big and small clubs increase .do you think negative tactics are good for the game?

How do you rate managers and what do you think are the components required to be the best coach in the world ? who do you rate as the best

Having witnessed Ronaldo score two goals and provide an assist for Milan in thier thrilling 4-3 victory over Sciena at the weekend I couldnt help but wonder why Real Madrid were so eager to sell him, especially considering their lack o####oal threat in recent games.

Do you think that Ronaldos sale could result in Real finishing 3rd or 4th rather than 1st or even 2nd since the rest of the challenging teams all seem to have consistant goal scorers?

Also which sale of a player in recent years do you think proved most detrimental to the success of the selling side's post sale success?
