I can understand the ruling of Nascar and see that Regan was under the yellow no pass zone. I do think if it had been some bigger name driver the would have gave it to them. As for Tony winning congratulations, as for sending Regan back to 18th I think it is Bull SH!!!!!!. I am not a Regan Smith fan but, he got screwed on this more than one way. Loosing 1st and than 2nd, Nascar you have made a great call and salute you with the way drivers do.( middle finger, the bird). I am disapointed in that ruling. Please let me know what you think about it? Wrong or Right? Thank you loyal and true Nascar fans! Remember keep it real!!!!
As an American Citizen and a True NASCAR fan for over 20 years, what I saw in the news tonight made me sick to my stomach. I was watching Glenn Beck on HLN news and he was listing the EARMARKS (pay offs) to influence some Gov. officials to vote for the Wall Street bail out, one of them was NASCAR. The amount was $128 million to be given to NASCAR if the Wallstreet Bailout bill passes in Congress. I pray that it is not true.... I hate to think that our sport that is loved by thousands and thousands of honest, hard-working people is not in anyway apart of this crooked SH!!!!!!!!. I write this not to give my opinion on the Wall Street bail out, only to say that I was so embrassed hear that NASCAR, a multi million dollar company, would even take a hand out from the government!
I don't know what to think or say. Please let me know if you saw the segment or what you think about this? I'm not a big fan of Brian France anyways, but if he asked his puppets to push for it, I think it will hurt the integrity and honor of NASCAR. Below I have copied and pasted an article on published on Yahoo Business on 08/06/2008, showing that Speedway Motorsports had a 17% increase for the 2nd quarter of 2008. Let me know what you think! Remember keep it real and Thank you Loyal and True American Nascar fans.
AP Speedway 2Q profit rises 17 pct on NASCAR revenue Wednesday August 6, 11:47 am ET Speedway Motorsports 2Q profit rises 17 percent on strong revenue from NASCAR events
CONCORD, N.C. (AP) -- Speedway Motorsports said Wednesday its profit rose 17 percent in the second quarter, beating analysts' estimates, as strong revenue from NASCAR events largely offset the effects of escalating gas prices on admission revenue and other difficult economic conditions.
The operator of motorsports raceways reported net income of $47 million, or $1.08 per share, for the three months ended June 30, compared with $40.3 million, or 92 cents a share, in the same period last year.
Revenue rose 18 percent to $212.8 million from $180.8 million.
Analysts surveyed by Thomson Financial, on average, expected earnings of $1.07 per share on sales of $211.5 million.
The company's event-related revenue, much of it due to corporate marketing, rose 14 percent to $72.9 million during the quarter.
Shares fell 36 cents, or 1.8 percent, to $19.76 in morning trading.
Finally the streak is over, I am a happy SOB. I know alot of drivers and so called FANS have complained about him passing the pace car on the yellow flag laps. I think that if it was your favorite driver you would not B!!CH so much. Jr and his team made the call to not come in for gas and it paid off, I think after two years of not winning people should not complain.
Lets talk about Kyle Busch he has won alot of races and people complain about him. Dale Earnhardt Sr. won many races during some race seasons and Fans complained about him, same with Jeff Gordon. Jr had a fast car all day and he may have won it regardless. All I am saying is let the Man have his win in peace, it was due.
Let me know what you think of the win and if you think Jr could have won the race if that last caution didn't come out? Remember keep it real and Thanks to all the true and loyal dedicated Nascar fans.
HAPPY BIRTYHDAY DALE!!!! WE LOVE AND MISS YOU VERY MUCH!!!! Racing aint the same without you. You will always be a hero to me and to so many others in our racing family...
Well like so many other Nascar fans I will be out at PIR a week before the races. There will be fans with their motorhomes, tents, and trailers just waiting for Monday when we can drive in to find our spots. Over the years I have met a lot of great people in the staging area and became friends with them on and off the track. We are apart of the greatest sport becuase although we may not root for the same drivers we still consider to be a big family. Out of all the changes Nascar has made to our sport one thing remains the same ITS FANS. I know there are some people that go to the races and give us TRUE FANS a bad name but there are atill alot more of us than them. So remember that when you go to the races and you need anything ask a TRUE FAN and they will be happy to help.
Please tell me some of your moments you experienced at the tracks? Have you made friends?
Remember keep it real and thank you Loyal and True Nascar Fans..............
It looks like Dale Jr has his groove back after running dry for awhile. I am very happy as I am a Nascar and Jr fan. I was worried and upset about Jr. leaving DEI and going to Hendricks because like alot of Earnhardt fans we don't like Gordon. I am going to stick with Jr. because I have done it since he was in the BUSCH series (nationwide).....
I think now that Jr. does have a team that will give him the equipment to win races he will win Championships and Dominate Superspeedways like he used to in DEI. I guess I will have to go buy 88 flags and hats for the races I attend and root for the driver that I have been loyal to "EARNHARDT!"
I am a Loyal and Dedicated fan to this sport and have been for many years. I have seen alot of great drivers come and go. Allison, Bonnet, Kulwicki, Richmond, and Earnhardt were all great drivers in my mind not for races they one, but for the mark they made on this Great life we call NASCAR. Thank you loyal and dedicated fans and remember keep it real...... GO Jr.............88 88 88 88 88 88 88 88 88 88 Daytona
Did anyone see the conflict between Stewart and Busch during the Bud shootout practice? Tony bumped Kurt into the wall and it tore the right fender of Buschs car, and Busch came down and let Tony know he wasn't happy about it. DW ( Darrrell Waltrip) said he doesn't believe in that kind of behavior on the track, I remember Earnhardt and DW bumping heads and cars in the 1980's so he is either getting old or has CRS (Can't Remember Sh!!).
Another incident happened in the beginning of the practice that took out Gordon, Johnson, Newman, and a couple of more drivers. What do you think about drivers letting their tempers show and taking it out on the other drivers and cars? After all they are human to! Nascar looks down upon it along with some fans. When a driver knocks your favorite driver out of the race what is your reaction to that driver? Please let me know, and remeber keep it real!!!!!
I thought that there was no way that France and his #### could find a way to change Nascar anymore, I was wrong! I have been a fan for 26 years and remember the excitement of the races and not knowing the winner of the race in the first couple of laps...
I know there are alot of new fans that have come along in the past few years, I think that is great! Don't get me wrong I love our sport and spend my money to go to races and buy the hats and t-shirts. In fact I went to a race at Lowes last year and both races in Phoenix and I plan to go to three this year.
I think that there are alot of Fans that feel like I do, I am tired of the changes that Nascar makes to the sport during the year. I said last year that after Sprint bought Nextel it would become The Sprint Cup and what do ya know wow! Now Nascar makes all the cars so there is no special modifications or tinkering to any car. I know there are alot more changes, but I don't want to go on and on.
I am happy that the season is starting up, because I was lost for these past few months. Please let me know what you think of all the changes for the last couple of years and the new ones they have already made. Thank You Loyal and Dedicated Fans and Remember keep it Real !!!!!
Well now we know that Dale Jr. is in the Mountain Dew # 88 Chevy for next year. For some fans just joining us # 88 was Dale Jarretts # for a while. It was also Darrell Waltrips along with Mountain Dew. The # 88 was also Bobby and Donnie Allison, Buddy Baker, Ricky Rudd, and of course Richard Childress. All great race car drivers in their days.
I as a dedicated and loyal fan of JR and Nascar Nextel (Sprint) Cup find myself in a tough choice. Do I go along with the changes that Nascar does every time something comes up or do I stop going to the races and watching it on t.v.?? I am tired of all the B.S. with changing it every year.
I have been a loyal fan of JR's for some time now and he is going to a team I don't like. What am I going to do about a driver next year? Do I change drivers or follow like all the other people who like JR ? I was also a Big Earnhardt Sr. (BIGEFAN) fan and he never changed his owner even when things went south. I hope that JR is happy with the choices he has made.
I would like to know what all of you think about the changes in your drivers or in Nascar? Thanks to all of the Loyal and dedicated fans who make the sport what it is today. Remember Lets keep it real!!!!!!!!
As a dedicated and loyal Nascar fan I think of all the drivers that made this sport what it is today. Although I have a problem with the BIG WIGS and the way they have changed the sport we love. I have watched Nascar go from the Southern born sport to a multi billion dollar industry. To be honest I hate it! Yes there are some good things that have made the sport safer for drivers and the fans. I could go on and on about the likes and dislikes but I want to talk about drivers of the past .
Richard Petty a name that every person knows and respects was a great driver in his day and a little cocky. One of my favorite drivers Dale Earnhardt also a great driver and helped get Nascar on the board as a sport and not just a bunch of dumb #### driving in a circle. I think some times it might have been better to stay that way.
Davey Allison another of my favorite all time drivers he was a damn good driver and person. I talked to Larry McReynolds and he told me that out of all the drivers that he was a Crew Cheif for Davey was his favorite. Larry also loved and respected Earnhardt. Alan Kulwicki a driver to be reckoned with I think if he had not died in 1993 he might of taken a couple more Winston Cups. Alan owned his cars and also worked on them when needed.
Drivers now days are not like the ones of the past. They seem to B!!CH about everything when their cars are not handling right. When something goes wrong it aint their fault something went bad with the car. Come on I've seen great drivers win with the worst cars out there. Don't get me wrong I still love the racing that goes on but I miss the excitement of the real racing.
Now I know it has been a big story everywhere and I have to say one thing. Dale Earnhardt Jr. I am a fan of his and have been since 1998 but this #### going on right now upsets me. Dale says he wants to go to a team that will give him a chance to win a cup, well I think he is with one right now. I don't think he is racing like he used to and I wonder of he has lost the feel or maybe the want. I understand that he wants to be with a winning team but Earnhardts and Gordons don't go together. Its like water and oil if you think about it.I think that Earnhardt Sr. would be a little upset with Jr. and Teresa for going on like this. Jr needs to become a race car driver again.
Please tell me some of your thoughts on changes or drivers you admire! What do like or dislike about Nascar today? Thank you Loyal and Dedicated Nascar fans. Remember keep it real!!!!!!!
The other half of BIGEFAN here. I would like to respond to Forsenic2's comment about NASCAR being a family sport. First, I should say that I am a mother and grandmother. While I don't have a opinion on the cursing as any cursing that has been fined to date has been for words that can be heard on any of the channels that NASCAR is viewed.
As for NASCAR being a family sport, I guess that everyone has a different opinion on what qualifies as a family sport. If the sport is viewed only via television and they continue to censor the language, cut out the beer and liquor sponsors, remove the fans that can't remove their hats when the National Athem is sang and the prayer given , then possilby it could be a family sport. But the reality is that NASCAR will not discontinue the beer and liquor sponsors, nor can they control the fans as it is their right to not show respect to our country.
If you have been to a race, I believe that you would agree that the track is not a place that would be considered a family event if you have a problem with a slip of a curse. My experience at the races is as follows: A bunch of fans drinking til they are drop dead drunk by alochol sold only at the race track concession stands, fans screaming at the driver that cut off their driver or at their drivers when a mistake is made, showing even more bad sportsmanship by throwing items when a rival driver wins the race, female fans dressed in tight, revealing clothing and the men googling at them.
While I agree that the drivers have some responsibility to be examples to their young fans, I feel that if you compare the moral standards of the NASCAR driver to any other sports professional, NASCAR drivers would win hands down.
So my suggestion to Forsenic2 is continue to censor the drivers and watch the race on television, it leaves more room for us immoral fans at the track!
When you hit the wall at 100+ mph you tend to be "P O" off at the person who bumped you, and yes sometimes it is your own "DARN" fault or your car has trouble. So don't be angry when that driver is not happy with their performance and say a bad word. As a Nascar fan I can understand why some drivers get mad at Nascar or the other drivers. They are in a very competitive sport and they get angry if a driver hits you into the wall or knock them out. Don't you get angry when another driver takes out your favorite driver? I do!!!
Lets say you are out on the freeway and some #### cuts you off and you have to react by changing your path to avoid an accident. Do you just smile and go on your way? Me as a driver in Phoenix, AZ, I see alot of stupid drivers cause accidents by not watching what they are doing. I could tell you how I would react in those situations, but I might get fined by Nascar. So what would you do?
So lets remember that Nascar drivers are still human, they have their own feelings and do get angry! When you do get taken out and hit the wall or flip your car because of another so called professional driver you tend to be on the edge. Drivers are already hard on themselves when they have a "####Y day" ! It is a very hard sport and they don't get half time or get to sit on they bench to rest.
So when your favorite driver needs space after an accident and Nascar fines them for not making a public speech about their day, maybe they are trying to cool off. When a driver is so excited after a win and just rambles on and accidently say "####" or some other word that hurts your feelings remember that they are human. If I haven't showed my side of my opinion well then don't get "P O"!!!!!!. Thank you LOYAL NASCAR FANS and remember keep it real!!!!!
I think we as Nascar fans like to hear a little bit of swearing in our sport. It shows that we do get excited about the wins or pissed off at the drivers mistakes. Drivers should have the right to express their feellings too!!!!!
I hate that Nascar has control of the Sponsors and Logos on the drivers cars. Jeff Burton has A####mp;T on his car and Nascar wants it gone because it is another carrier in which they are competitors with. Sponsorships are a big seller in Nascar and the numbers and logos are one of the ways we can tell drivers apart .
Nascar does alot of dictating in the sport we love and watch every weekend. I think Nascar has got a big head and it got it to fast to keep Loyal Fans happy. We have alot of new fans that don't know about the past 25 years and how it was back then and don't really care. I always say I was Nascar when Nascar wasn't cool, I miss those days. I'm not saying that all new fans are this way and some of you might not be .
Nascar has been in my life since the early 80's and I have watched the teams and drivers change in that time. Most of all the fans have changed from #### to everyday city folk now their mixed. I know it's probably for the best because there is alot more things to do now then there was in the past. Nascar has also changed it's control on the teams and drivers and some times that isn't always good.
There are alot of good drivers that are now afraid of pissing off the "BIG WIGS OF NASCAR" because they might get fined, lose points or their Crew Cheifs. Nascar is still the #1 sport in my life but the more they change it the harder it becomes. Nascar fans are not stupid and Nascar needs to realize that the "####" they pull every week does effect our lives as well as our loyalty to the sport we love.
What do we as LOYAL NASCAR FANS to speak our minds about the concerns to OUR sport?Yes I said OUR sport because with out us Nascar would just be a bunch of guys driving around in a circle. We buy and use their products and go to the races when we can. Please let me know your thoughts and concerns. What do you think? Thank you loyal Nascar fans and remember to keep it real!!!!!!
Today the Nascar world has changed for me and alot of other loyal Nascar fans. When I saw Earnhardt Jr. sitting next to Rick Hendrick on Speed today I was saddend and sick to my stomach. For many years now Earnhardts have been a rival of Jeff Gordon and the Hendricks teams. Those are two names that shouldn't ever mix like oil and water, I know many fans of Gordon and Earnhardt will agree with me on this. Its not that I don't like what Jr. wanted but where he went. that bothers me .I still boo at the Hendricks teams and now my favorite driver is going to be one of them. I have alot of Gordon friends and they boo Earnhardt Jr and thats how it should be. You cheer for your favorite driver or team and boo the ones you dislike.
Another change is Kyle Busch might be joining DEI. What do fans do when their driver goes from a team that they have felt a connection to for years? Do we go with them or stay with a team? I always will be a fan of the sport but it has changed alot since the eighties and not always for the better.
The Earnhardts will always be one of my favorite names in Nascar next to Davey Allison and Steve Park. Earnhardt stayed with Richard Childress for most of his career even when he wasn't winning. I don't think its the teams that are always to blame for the dry spells sometimes its the drivers.
So what do you Loyal fans of Nascar think about this change? What do you think will happen to the Jr. fans? Do they go with their driver or find another? I will have to think on that myself. Thanks to all you Loyal Nascar Fans and keep it real.
I am an Arizona native and a loyal Nascar fan since the early 80's. I am a dad of two boys, two girls and one grandson. I have a wonderful fiance that loves Nascar as much as I do. I'm also and avid fisherman, hunter, cowboy and an all around outdoorsman. Racing has been in my life for as long as I can remember. My grandparents used to race back in the 50's and 60's in Georgia on dirt tracks. All of my family is from Georgia and we still believe in "Southern Hospitality and Heritage". In the early to late 80's my uncles got into dirt track racing here in Arizona. I also did a little racing in the early 90's, but the sport became more than going to the junkyard and buying a bomber.
