When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one Man to dissolve the bands which have connected Him with another, and to assume His place at the pinnacle of the history of a sport, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle Him, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that we should declare the state of successorship and competitive environment that He has left behind. Let it be known, after the retirement of The Great One, the Green Bay Packers still have the best QB in the NFC North. This is in no way an endorsement of Aaron Rodgers - a still unproven star - to be the equal or near equal to The Great One in any way, but rather an indictment of competing QB’s in the NFC North on the basis of incompetence, moronicism, and a general behavioral adoption of blatant jackassery. To prove this, let this list be submitted to a candid world.
Tavaris Jackson “T-Jack” – Yet another example of the failed philosophy of the “running quarterback”. He tries to run when he should throw, and throws interceptions when he should run. If we dismembered him, sewed his legs to his shoulders and his arms to his thighs, he would try to wear his #### for a hat.
Griese, Grossman, Orton “The Trashtown Triplets” – All three are sad examples of players who experienced a fair amount of success in college, but became infected with the Chicago QB disease when they signed a contract with a mismanaged and poorly coached organization. How a team with so many high draft picks can consistently find the biggest busts of the year is likely a question that has no answer. Keep up the good work McCaskey.
John Kitna – Although Kitna will be the toughest competition for Rodgers, his history in the league surely places him in the category of flop. Any quarterback that can spend time under the wise tutelage of Mike Holmgren – who’s ability to create a star quarterback is unquestioned – and somehow turnout so bad he needs to be cut, then dredged up by the Bengals organization and fail to perform with the talent of Ocho Cinco and TJ Houshyomamainthehottubwith, and then go to the Lions and destroy the careers of highly drafted WR’s, can easily be dismissed from consideration of the top QB of any conference at any level.
Best QB in the NFC North? That's like being named the smartest Cowboy fan. Not a lot of competition.
Kitna is twice as good as Rodgers. Kitna had a Pro Bowl year at Cincy and they let him go to Detroit. Where he has put up better numbers than 'Messiah' Brett Favre ever since he's been in Motown.
I know why there is no mention of who the best running back is in the NFC North. Here's a hint; he wears purple. Oh, and so does the second best running back in the division. And the best d-line does, too.
Rodgers won't just be the best QB in the NFC North, he could be one of the best in the League. He has more receivers than he'll know what to do with. He also has the most under rated tight end in the league, in Donald Lee. He has a line that is finally mending together. He has a good rb, who takes whatever the situation gives him, and earns his yards. Oh yeah, and our D??? Are you kidding me??? Not to mention Jason Taylor will be joining. On to the Superbowl!!!!!!!
Oh yeah, forgot to talk about how sick I am about hearing about the Vikings and Super Bowl talk. Really. Makes me want to puke. I've heard this for so many years, yet all they do is fricken choke. You Viqueens fans are the most fair weather fans I've ever been around. You have no QB, no receivers, a great defensive line, and nothing else. Enjoy another over rated beginning and 7-9 record chumps!!!
Fairweather fans huh? We have yet to win a SB and root for our beloved Vikes through thick and thin anyway. Sounds to me like you are just aggitated because you lost a sure fire hall of fame QB named Brett Favre. The Vikings have the #1 Offensive line, improved our WR core with the additions of BB from Chicago and 2nd year man Sidney Rice. Our defense has also been upgraded as I'm sure you're aware of with the signing of the best DE in the NFL(Jared Allen). T.Jackson is enjoying his 3rd season this year(Basically is starting his second full season). Remember it took Brett 4 plus years to really get going? Aaron Rodgers will be good this year but he is gonna have a great big target on him now that he is starting and it will take him at least two years to learn what being a starter means. I have a lot of GBP friends but it is gonna be a fine pleasure to shove that ego down your throat this year. Take some anger managment classes and find out that it is not a God Given right to win the NFC north for your team. Get over yourself, lol.
T-Jack isn't a running QB - he's a pocket QB. Take a look at his college stats. I wish he would have run more last year instead of staying in the pocket. Oh, one more thing, ####... he's entering only his second year as a starter. You can't call him a failure after one year of starting any more than you can call Goldie Locks a success after having done nothing ...lol.
Kitna is the only proven QB in the division. You better move back into your dad's basement.
Brohm from Louisville is better than any QB on the Bears or Vikings roster as well. Sadly, being class of QBs in the NFC North isn't anything to write home about.
As being a Vikings fan, I have just one comment. Didn't your Great God throw the interception that ruined the Packers shot at the Super Bowl, if that's the case then I am looking forward to Aaron Rogers following in certain footsteps. Why don't you wait until the end of the season, look at the stats and team records and then decide at that time to put your foot in your mouth. Rogers has not had enough playing time nor experience for you to be able to back up your bold statement. Your blog was entertaining neverless. GO VIKINGS!!!
Okay, first off let me just say that I'm a Packer fan. Also, the Vikings had a chance to go to the playoffs, but blew it by overusing A.D. So why should Vikings fans diss the Packers when the Packers got farther than they did, and beat them twice during the season, one game which they won by 34 points! Anyways, I don't agree with this article:
Jackson: Not a running QB, just not in the right system.
Kitna: Best proven QB in the division, and btw Detroit fans, Favre molested Kitna in the stats and wins columns.
Chicago: No one even knows who the quarterback is, not even Lovie.
@zeke...I'm no Lions fan, but Favre did not molest Kitna during Kina's 2 years in Detroit. Their stats are very comparable. Kitna has the edge in yardage and completion percenatge. Favre has the edge in TDs and int. percentage.
The Pack has a lot more wins than the Lions during those 2 years, but I wouldn't blame that on Kitna. The Lions have lost for decades before he showed up. Not sure even your Superman, Favre, could turn them around singlehandedly.
Those poorly coached Bears have won 2 out of 4 North division crowns under Lovie Smith as well as a Super Bowl appearance also with Rex Grossman at QB! Remind me, WHAT HAS AARON RODGERS DONE!! Exactly NOTHING. Even with Brett Favre you only won 1 Title. GET A GRIP! BRING ON DA BEARS!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes Aaron Rodgers is the best QB. He has the weapons at WR and a good TE in Donald Lee. There is NO way jon kitna is the best QB. He was good in Cincy, but can't do anything with his WRs in detroit. The Pack also have the best team in the north by far. I'm sorry but you viking fans are too excited about your team. You have NO QB and teams will start to figure out your running game. adrain peterson might be the best RB but Ryan Grant is the 2nd best. No chester taylor is not the 2nd best. Remember who was the first RB to get 100 yards against the vikes D. Someone by the name of Ryan Grant. And in that game adrain peterson had what 50-60 yards. So the Pack might have the best D too. The Packers are by FAR the BEST team in the North.
Holy sheet...a Mike Martz led QB throwing for 4000 yds!? Holly sheet...that same Mike Martz led QB, losing the majority of those games that manifested said 4000 yds!? Shocking. 4000 yds doesn't mean anything when you lose. I personally like Pugsly. He's a competitor. I think the NFC North in general, is vastly underrated.
The Vikes should field a good team this year. A. Peterson is exciting, but I worry for his safety...ok, maybe "worry" is too strong of a word.
The Pack has a great defense. Better than Minny, I think. Minnesota's secondary being the primary reason. Rodgers should do just fine. They have a good O-line, and a young RB. They will be competitive as well.
The Lions are an underachieving team, but can lace em' up with the best on any day. Marenelli is a good coach, and their D has improved by leaps and bounds.
Lastly...based strictly on where they finished last year...my beloved Bears. Back in the role as the unappreciated underdog. They like it better that way. Good motivator. They will be a better team this season then last, despite what many will argue. I see them as a sleeper. Most have forgotten them, but they still possess one of the best defenses in the league, when healthy, and are only two years removed from the SB. Keep up the disrespect, because they play better with a chip in their shoulders. I fully expect them to lead the league in take-aways this year. I also expect Matt Forte to give a strong push for R.O.Y.
bd07...I wasn't commenting on Kitna throwing for 4,000 yds. I was asking bpf who caught all that yardage. Since he thinks that Kitna can't find Detroit's WRs. Overrated WRs, I might add.
this is at least three recent articles I've seen that has Griese listed as a QB in Chicago.. what's with these guys that get paid to know what their talking about??
well.... i guess I'll use the excuse; I don't get paid either :p -- looking back i see this is a blog so it's easy to understand not caring about Chicago enough to know Griese is gone..
but nice primary point though. There is a quality QB shortage in the NFC north. I may give Kitna the edge over Rodgers though.
adrian peterson got hurt in that same game thats the only reason he had 50 yards.
beardown07
the only reason our secondary looked so bad is because people threw on us all game because we didnt have a pass rush...Its like we were playing tom brady every day. But now we got the best d line so our secondary should change...We should have the 2nd best secondary in the nfc north following green bay.
tigervidmar, you're very right. Tar-Tar, I'm almost willing to bet, will be our undoing this year.
I think Aaron Rodgers will be good but it's really idiotic to call him the best in the NFC North. It's worse than saying Adrian Peterson is the best RB in the league. There hasn't been enough time spent on the field to say "Best of..." yet.
Yeah,
I am going to take quarterback talent evaluations from this guy seriously. He looks brilliant. I think I will let the season play out to determine qb ability. I think he probably knows where the beer, Jack links and 2nd rate porn is at Kwik-e-mart though.
He might not even be the best QB on his team, ans I suspect at least two these teams will have some rookie QB's challenging for the starting spot quite soon. Green Bay should win at least five games this year
I love him. He has many fans on my current dating site ' ~~~####~~~ ' It is a FREE celeb&millionaire dating site. Many athletes go there for love and romance. I have ever seen him online there. About one day ago
Aren't you the same guy who kept coming on the Bears forums talking trash... and then had absolutely nothing to say when the Bears beat your Packers TWICE last season? Get the hell outta here with this "Rodgers is the best QB in the NFC North" bull...
Let me remind you that before everybody figured out that Fred Miller can't sustain a block against a bull rush and John Tait should never play on the left side, Grossman was putting up better numbers than Farve, Manning, Brady, Palmer, amd Brees. And all five of them are twice as good as Rodgers. Now that Grossman is going to have a little more time to make a play, he'll go back to the level he started out at in 2006.
And yeah, Griese's a Buc again... maybe you should pay more attention to who's actually ON the teams you're attempting to diss.
Jared Allen is NOT the best DE in the game. You Vike fans have to be the most delusional NFL fans out there. Goodness. There are plenty of other DE's as good as Allen.
Being the best QB in this division still isnt saying that much. Im not hating on Rodgers, I think he might turn out to be decent, but to be the "best qb" in the NFC north is kind of like beiung the valedictorian of the special class.
if you have 4,000 + passing yardage, that means your receivers are beating defensive backs weekly. How are those receiver's underated?Especially on a team like Detroit
Oh really nascarfan174,
And can you name one DE last season who had more than 15.5 sacks last year? I didn't think so. speaking of delusional just look in the mirror.
While the Packers aren't the best team in the NFC North (the Bears beat em twice last year with they're much maligned QB's)Rodgers will be an upgrade over Favre and his high school/sand lot quality of play. Name me a couple QB'S and running backs the Pack drafted in recent years that turned out to be any good and weren't acquired from another team or off waivers.

BVP, you keep hallucinating about T Jack ever being a usable NFL quarterback. The very fact that he is on an NFL roster is laughable. You'd be better off bringing in Brad Johnson. At least you'd have a chance at completing a pass. Do you guys even realize how horrible he is? I don't watch much NFC games, but he is really bad.
Aaron Rodgers will prove he deserves to be the man. Everyone in the media is making him out to be that he plays like Ryan Leaf. They'll see the truth...
what a turd this ####fan is... The whole NFC north is sad and full of losers, especially at the QB postion. although I do enjoy watching Adrian Peterson play. Adrian Peterson of Palestine, TX... not the other one...
Angry Packer Fan, I am proud to call you brother. The BEST part about your blog is seeing all of the purple panty wearers get sent into a colossal tiff. I live in MN and love to laugh yearly at the "Vikings are going to the Super Bowl this year" talk. Then in week 8 when they're 2-6, all we'll hear is about how FOX had to buy 8000 tickets to the game so it wouldn't get blacked out. Keep up the good work and for all you Vikings fans, the truth will set you free. Hey Vikings fans- Dump your purple d-bags, let them move to LA and come root for a real football team! Besides, if Leif Ericson would have pranced around in purple, he would have been killed by his own men.....
A halfdemon, born in a farmhouse basement, and baptised with Schlitz. Raised and regularly beaten by an alcoholic father, he was set on a path of vengence and hate, he seeks to destroy all that stands in the way of his Pack. Perhaps one day he can find the peace and the light. But until then...
