* Know why Joey Porter hasn’t made an impact with Miami?
He needs help from three others to beat a left tackle.
Porter’s disastrous 2007 season reached a new low Sunday. He was exposed as a thug by my FOX Sports colleague Jay Glazer, who unveiled a videotape showing Porter and his buddies jumping Cincinnati left tackle Levi Jones at a Las Vegas casino in March. Porter then floundered in a 41-31 loss to Cleveland, tallying a meager four tackles.
Porter ran his mouth beforehand by again picking on Browns tight end Kellen Winslow, who he slurred with a homosexual innuendo last season while playing for Pittsburgh. Winslow finished with five catches for 90 yards and asked reporters afterward, “Did he play today? I didn't see him.”
Before games against Dallas and Oakland, Porter called Cowboys running back Marion Barber “cocky” and guaranteed a win against the Raiders. Barber rushed for two touchdowns in a Cowboys rout, while Oakland cruised to a 35-17 victory. Porter made no impact plays in those games and hasn’t registered a sack in Miami’s 0-6 season.
Still, nothing was as humiliating as Glazer’s expose. Details of the Porter-Jones altercation were fuzzy because of a shoddy police investigation, as the two were reported to have fought in a valet parking area. Porter was fined $1,000 in May after pleading no contest to misdemeanor battery.
The NFL then fined Porter three game checks, which is the equivalent of roughly $141,000. But the punishment would probably have been more severe had the video footage surfaced earlier.
Having landed a five-year, $32 million contract with $20 million guaranteed, Porter is this season’s biggest free-agent bust (although Denver running back Travis Henry is a contender if suspended because of drug issues). Compounding the problem, Miami offered an Adalius Thomas-sized deal even though no other suitors were going to offer the same cash for a fading eight-year veteran.
The only positive from this: The season-finale between Miami and Cincinnati (1-4) now has additional meaning besides being a potential duel for the 2008 draft’s No. 1 pick.
* Another suspect Dolphins free-agent decision was allowing punter Donnie Jones to join St. Louis as a restricted free agent. Jones and San Francisco’s Andy Lee are tied for the NFL lead in gross average at 50.1 yards. Jones also has an impressive net average of 42.0.
In comparison, Miami rookie punter Brandon Fields has averages of 43.0 and 36.3.
“I just think it’s getting a fresh start and having some extra motivation being in a new place with a new staff,” said Jones, who clashed this off-season with Miami’s new kicking coach. “It’s a very good work environment and our special teams coach Al Roberts is a tremendous guy. He lets me go out and do my thing.”
* Dallas Cowboys executive Stephen Jones waited outside the locker room to congratulate New England owner Bob Kraft following the Patriots’ 48-27 victory.
“Y’all taught us a lesson,” Jones said.
A much less classy move came from another Jones. During a Sunday night pay-per-view wrestling match, suspended Tennessee cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones threw money into the ring to distract his team’s opponent. The move was meant to spoof Jones “making it rain” earlier this year at a Las Vegas strip club.
Considering a club manager was shot and paralyzed later that night after a blow-up with Jones’ entourage, how can anyone think this would be funny?
porter is a thug and should be in JAIL, he got off on a misdemeanor? that was a gang assault.

Brother man, I guess having children out of wedlock or being an alcoholic is worse than beating someone up, allowing your pitbulls to attack a young kid (Joey Porter), having your "entourage" shoot a man (Pacman), killing your girlfriend (Carruth), domestic violence (Nejah Davenport), or getting busted for Cocaine (90's era Cowboys). If we got rid of all the players that are alcoholics or have children to different women, then we wouldn't have very many African American players left. And don't try to play the race card with me, I'm an African American. It's just "thugs" like these that bring the rest of us down.
I am usually the last one to throw stones at these athletes. I will say that if they break a law, they MUST pay for it. However, I look at what's been done and how have they been punished. Thus far, I think that Goodell has been doling out approriate punishments. In this case, Joey has been given a very light punishment. I hope that the authorities and Goodell take a look at the video and make the appropriate adjustments.
The cowardly group that attacked the individual should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. At any point, Levi's career could have been jeopardized. Gooddell must take that into consideration when adjusting the punishment.

The second I saw that video it confirmed what I have suspected for years: Joey Porter is a punk bee-yotch. The guy runs his mouth and talk about how tough he is, but that was a sucker punch he threw at Jones and then has 3 other guys jump him as well?! I wondered how and why Jones got beat down by Porter, but no one before showed it was Porter and 3 other dudes. Superman would've gotten a few scrapes getting jumped like that!
Porter got shot in the butt a few years ago near a CSU party or something, and I think it's just too bad he wasn't more seriously wounded. I don't wish him dead, but if he couldn't play football anymore we wouldn't pay this worthless human being insane amounts of cash, and then he'd have to become a productive member of society or wind up in the gutter or prison.

I don't think the Pats taught the Cowboys "a lesson", they just showed who is a better team. I have to admit I thought (and hoped) Romo would completely collapse, but he did play a pretty good game. Dallas is probably the only place that beleived they were in the same class as the Pats, and now they know they've still got a ways to go. However, if the Pats have no rushing attack against the Colts, they will lose that game. But I think they kinda know that anyway...
Personally, I used to love having Joey on the Steelers. It was fun listening to his bravado of trash before every game and then seeing the rest of the Steelers Defense back up his mouth.
Now, however, he has left for the money in Miami. The rest of us see what that has left on him the Steelers and Miami. The Steel organization does not get scammed into paying contracts for low productivity, (**except for Duce Staley.) Only a team like Miami or Oakland would pay such a clownish price for a washed up player as Joey.
This years Steel defense with the lowest points scored against in 70 years, proves that it was the team and not Joey's mouth that let's our team win.
Joey, good luck buddy, unfortunately for you, your new team can't cash the checks your mouth makes anymore.

It's funny to me how Whites tend to always talk about African American players when they get in trouble, but when they are entertaining your ####, or helping your team win, they're OK. Please stop with the race baiting. If you want to discuss his abilities, or how he played in the game, cool. But when you start personally attacking a person, his race, and his culture because you have issues, it's wrong. So, keep the personal racist issues you have to yourself, and comment on performance. First off NuthiNice we dont need a has been like Porter in the Raiders LB core we have some good young LB's! Secondly that video will get Porter out of the league for the next 6 weeks so we dont need to worry about any other predictions he has to make on games that wont come true!

Can we cut through the Politically Correct Red Tape BS and just talk honestly? First, I'm not stupid enough to believe racism doesn't exist, but second, if you're gonna call white people "Whites" then why not just call black people "Black"? I don't think it's a racist term, and in fact Bill Russell and Jim Brown (who were both very active in the Civil Rights movement and are still active in the black community today) were some of the first people to refer to themselves as "black". It was a point of pride, which it should be.

When he used to teach High School, there was a black student (again, predominantly white High School) who would bully kids into giving him their lunch money. He'd actually guilt them into it by insisting they were prejudiced if they didn't give it up. One day he saw this happen, and asked the white kid why he gave in. When he heard the "prejudice" story, he told the kid "next time tell him you are, and you will be prejudiced against a**holes for the rest of your life."

As a Steeler fan, I am appalled to see this footage, to see what sort of behavior Peezy was displaying. I understand now, other than his age and chronic knee injuries, why the Steelers had to cut him loose, he was the complete polar opposite of the class the Rooneys expect their players to carry themselves with.

I don't see the problem with using the color of a person's skin as a descriptor when it is not intended as a derogatory term. Color does not = ethnicity. I know lots of cool black people, and they are exactly that, BLACK PEOPLE. To them, I am a WHITE PERSON.

Joey Porter has ALWYAS been over rated. I don't understand what the media ever saw in him, I could of told you he was a bust before he even signed for a team.
