Is anyone else tired of all the insults on the posts all the time? The only reasonable person is probably jayhawk67! I read them, get riled up, and then I am jumping into the talk #### about the other drivers pool. I think a rivalry is fine, but some of the posts are pretty insane. It's cool to read other peoples opinions, but my mom always said "opinions are like buttholes, everyones got one and some just stink more than the others." I'd like to think mine smells like a rose! I am a pretty enthusiastic fan and feel obligated to stick up for my driver when someone tries to bad-mouth him. What I need to do is practice patience and restraint (lol), and let my driver do the talking for me. Since Jr. signed with Hendrick I have thought long and hard about the "Earnhardt's hate Gordon's and vise-versa. I think I may quit wishing bad luck against Gordon and Johnson. I'm not going to root FOR them, I'll just act like they don't exist. lol What I really do want is for Jr. to fit in and win championships. And if Hendrick can help, if Gordon can help, or if Johnson can help I am all for it. I can see the Daytona 500 next year... Jr. coming in first being pushed by Johnson and Gordon. lmao! Anyway, I hope that is how it goes.
And I've been reading a lot that says Johnson and Gordon should be suspended for the rest of the year because of the COT "infractions" and that is just plain crazy. I do think that the points should be docked, the crew chief suspended (because he should know everything about the car), and the boys slapped with a fine that Nascar should donate to the Victory Junction Gang or something. The amount won't hurt the driver or team I am sure. And I think that the money should be given to something worthwhile.
And I still think that Jr. should get to keep #8. DEI can let the number go next year, Hendrick can apply for it, and Nascar can assign it to them. If they don't (they meaning Theresa and Nascar), then it just seems like people being petty. (Lol, no pun intended.) Of course I'd be a little butt-hurt too if I just lost the biggest face in Nascar, so I bet Theresa won't let it go and not only will she #### off a bunch of Jr. fans but also a whole lot of Sr. fans. I was a fan of Sr. too, but I am going to stop buying Dale Sr. stuff because I am not going to support Theresa. I am pretty sure that Dale Sr. would have backed Dale Jr. in his decision and let him take the #8, because it was his son. And Theresa better remember the name of the company- Dale Earnhardt Inc., not Theresa Earnhardt Inc. I think she has just gotten trapped in her little world and needs a reality check. I feel bad that DEI will go downhill, but I feel ok in following Jr. to another race team. Don't we wish Sr. was still here? Wonder what would have happened with this situation then.
yup, it would be interesting if Sr was still around....love to get his thoughts on the new car actually.
I don't mind the occasional insult....as you say, everyone is entitled to their opinion and some have stronger ones than others....it's personal attacks that rile me up. Insults can be resolved (sometimes real easy once both parties explain their position....other times rather grudgingly, lol) or ignored.
I have always stated I like and respect all the drivers, some more than others. Jr. has a lot of proving to handle. He has the best cars comming in 2008 and the best crews. There will be no more excuses that Eury Jr. gave him sub par equipment to drive should he have poor showings.Lets hope he can shine in his new venture..
I would hope that Jr starts off with new sponsors, new number, and definitely a new crew chief. He needs to sever all relations with the past team.That way he starts out fresh and no excess baggage..
If Dale Sr. was alive we would not be talking about Where Jr. is going, and the #8, and the Sponsers, Dale Earnhardt Sr. knew what it took for there cars compete every week and he would spend the money on those cars, D.E.I. has gone downhill ever since Dale Sr. died.
If Sr. were around we might be talking about exactly the same things. Sr. might have kicked him out of the nest or Jr. might have left to see what he could do on his own without daddy.
Great post...I am an occasional complainer of the HMS bunch (no smart #### comments Falcon) but I enjoyed your post. Good points. I do agree about the paragraphs...lol.
If we hadn't had lost Dale Sr, We would might still be talking about mud slinging about driver and fans. BUT !! not about Jr leaveing DEI ! Dale Sr wanted Jr to have the best and a chance to have a great career like he did. Yeah maybe he would still have like to try another team. BUT This dad and son was a team that fead off each other and was a win win for both. Now about Teresa who has gotten alot of flack for running her late husbands shop her way. It wasn't left to Jr in a will, so Dale Sr must have told her and showed her a few things to leave it to her to run if he was to die. Not like that might happen driveing a race car at 190 MPH. Is DEI going in the right direction ?? Martin Truex just won his first and Jr's car has been running great too, and both are in chase chance and DEI still could come away in 2007 with a championship.
I think that the only reason they are running good right now is Theresa knows she is losing the Jr income. Who is gonna bring in the money now? The only reason I've ever rooted for Truex Jr. is because he raced for DEI and I really don't see him bringing in big name sponsors. Isn't his sponsor now Bass Pro Shops? (or something like that)

We have no guarantee that DEI would be anymore competitive with Sr. still around. By now he most likely would have been out of the car and in the front office. But did he have what it takes for a front office? History says no. Teresa had that all along.
So I believe we would be about where we are today anyway and that if Jr. wasn't getting kicked out of the nest that Sr. would be saying go ahead if you get the opportunity. After all what does any father want for his children other than for them to have a chance to do what they want and be successful at it?
I think Martin has everything it takes to be a NASCAR Superstar and that with Jr. out of the pictureat DEI he will now become one. I imagine Budweiser is trying to get him in the 8 right now as a condition for staying with their contract at DEI for 2008.
photogr- is there such a thing as Pepsi lite? Or am I missing a joke somewhere that went over my head? I don't think Sr would be retired either if he was still here. He would be one that would be driving if he had to use a walker to get to the car!
14Falcons - I don't care for Truex, but that is just me. Hope he has flats every race. lol I can't see him in the 8 Bud car. He would start getting death threats within days of an announcement like that. lol who could step into that car but Jr.
I think there is a good chance someone will be in a Bud 8 and that they will look pretty good in it after a couple of years. I believe Martin is the most likely to pick up the torch and carry it for the DEI faithful.
I am a 36 year old woman from a very small town in Montana. I am a huge Nascar fan. People ask who my driver is and I say Earnhardt, whether Sr. or Jr. I love em both. I have so much interest in the races and drivers. My car has #8 and #3 decals all over it. So does my husbands. Our sons play sports all school year - Football, Basketball, and Tennis. Our family loves most all sports. If you are interested in what I do for a living- I am a "Certified Memorialist" and a graphic designer. In easy terms- I make headstones and also signs. Building signs, car decals and signage, cabinet signs etc. etc. Being a graphic designer and working with vinyl you can imagine what our vehicles look like!! Anyway, Everyone have a good day. lol
