At first glance you would think the officials handed the Celtics the game last night.
Team Green took 38 freebies to the Lakers 10.
the zebras robbed the Lakers right?
WRONG!
The Lakers were whistled for 28 fouls, theCeltics 21
Two of the Lakers 28 fouls game at the end of the game, where because of the situation they were forced to foul
Not quite the bag job we've been led to believe
I'm going to explain to the sour Laker fans and coach Phil (the genius) the reason the LA did not get to the line.
The Lakers had the Celtics in the penalty in the 2nd qtr at the 4:22 mark and 5:44 in the third
These are the shot sequences for LA while in the bonus situation.
2nd quarter:
3:32 Lamar Odom misses 15-foot jumper
2:42 Derek Fisher misses 25-foot three point jumper
2:05 Vladimir Radmanovic makes 24-foot three
1:37 Pau Gasol makes 5-foot two point shot
1:07 Rajon Rondo blocks Vladimir Radmanovic's 25-foot three
0:50 Pau Gasol misses 4-foot hook
0:23 Derek Fisher shooting foul (on Rondo)
0:01 Pau Gasol misses layup
3rd quarter:
5:43 Pau Gasol makes dunk
5:05 Kobe Bryant makes 17-foot two point shot
4:31 Pau Gasol makes 15-foot jumper
3:55 Vladimir Radmanovic misses 22-foot jumper
2:42 Kobe Bryant misses 19-foot jumper
2:14 Kobe Bryant misses 25-foot three point jumper
2:03 Jordan Farmar misses layup
1:54 Luke Walton misses 20-foot jumper
0:23 Sasha Vujacic makes 19-foot two point shot
With the Celtics in the penalty for over 10 minutes combined in these two quarters, the Lakers attempted 11 shots from beyond 15ft and made 4. They took 5 shots in the paint made 2 and drew a foul on a 3rd,resulting in 2 points
This tells me one of two things
1. The Lakers were lazy and settled for low percentage shots
2. The Celtics shut down the paint and forced the Lakers into low percentage shots.
Either way you want to spin it the end result is the same
By comparison The Celtics drove to the hoop aggressivly and and made the Lakers commit fouls.
So no more crying about fouls.
The reason LA lost this game and inevitably will lose this series is defense
The Celtics play it. La doesn't.
This Laker team is softer than a sneaker full of ####
A glaring example was Powe driving the length of the court for a two hander while Rad watched and Pau Gasol got out of the way. absolutly pathetic.
Phil Jackson should have called a timeout, walked out on the floor grabbed Gasol by the ear and dragged him off the court.
If I coached Pau Gasol and he pulled that ####. I'd bury him so deep on the bench he'd have to dig his way out with a combat shovel.
Until the Lakers decide to put some effort in defensivly this is going to be a very short series.
What!
Are you crazy! Kobe was fouled getting off the bus!
Great shots list.
My defensive breakdown on the series is as yours:
Boston clogs the lane and doubles Kobe forcing L.A. to take outside shots. Until someone gets hot, the Celts keep their basic defense.
To quote you right down to the misspelling, "ridiculas".
Here's a review of the Celtics' vs opponents free throw stats from the playoffs:
Home games vs Hawks:
Game 1 Atl 28, C's 24, -4
Game 2 Atl 40, C's 26, -14
Game 5 Atl 29, C's 15, -14
Game 7 Atl 16, C's 19, +3 Total -29
Road:
Game 3 Atl 27, C's 25, -2
Game 4 Atl 33, C's 18, -15
Game 6 Atl 47, C's 25, -22 Total -39, Grand Total -68
Home games vs Cavs:
Game 1 Cavs 26, C's 18, -8
Game 2 Cavs 27, C's 38, +11
Game 5 Cavs 41, C's 23, -18
Game 7 Cavs 35, C's 34, -1 Total -16

Game 4 Cavs 18, C's 26, +8
Game 6 Cavs 25, C's 13, -12 Total -13 Grand Total -29
slshusker, sorry if the stats weren't obvious to you. I'm writing this from the Celtics' perspective. The negative numbers are how many less free throws the Celtics had than their opponents, which makes sense considering their defensive style (until this series). Stay tuned...
Home Games vs Pistons:
Game 1 P's 27, C's 21, -6
Game 2 P's 32, C's 25, -7
Game 5 P's 38, C's 30, -8 Total -21

NBA Refs Suck
The Celtics 10th man got more freethrows than the WHOLE ENTIRE LAKERS TEAM!!!
That sounds pretty su####ious to me.
If you watched the game than you know the Lakers were getting screwed by the refs
54fulltiltful'
With the disparity being in question the question I want answered is why the hell didn't the Lakers put up something akin to more of defense.
I know that the Celtics got to the line more often than not. But at times there wasn't a Laker there even to stop the likes of Poew and others on the Celtics.
How comes the Zen Master didn't have an answer for that particular question ?
I'm sorry Laker fans, we didn't watch our team lose last night BECAUSE OF the refs. The Lakers lost because they were outplayed and the C's were dropping almost everything they threw up until the 4th. But even with that being said, if you watched the whole game and you think it was called evenly, please stop trying to sound like a basketball fan. Because all you are is a Celtics fans, or a fan of a team that is a rival of the Lakers like Sac or Phoenix.
The Celtics have deserved both wins so far, regardless of calls. Hopefully the Lakers can play like they did in the 4th for the duration of the series, otherwise there will be an epidemic of happy clowns.
btw, quite the assortment of music...where's the Rocky theme?
LAKE-SHOW.

mattm5150, the old,"I'll say that the refs were not the reason my team lost," so when I say in a round about way that it is the reason they lost, I will sound more reasonable and believable than those homers. Sorry, but you sound pretty much of a homer yourself.
It is funny that you think the Celtics fans or fans of a team that is a rival of the Lakers, can't be objective, but you as a fan of a team that has lost two straight playoff games can be.
And since when is a game supposed to be called evenly? That suggest that each team is supposed to have an even number of calls.
A game should be caled fairly. If one team fouls more, they should get called more, I don't care if it is ten times as many.
What happened last night was the Celtics defense turned the Lakers into a jump shooting team and their jump shots were not falling.
As the blogger pointed out with the shot selection when the Celtics were in the penalty, the lakers did not take advantage of it. I kept thinking during those times, Wonder why the Lakers are not taking the ball straight at the Celtis and forcing the foul, or forcing them to give way to advoid the foul? They never did.
Did you happen to notice that with each series the shot differential has progressivly decreased. That is called a trend and so far in this series the trend has continued.
Both the Cavs and the Pistons play better defense than the LA. Atlanta played some good defense in their series a well
Fouling is the by-product of lazy defense and La's defense has been about as pathetic as it comes in this series, slow to rotate, late on help defense, and constantly beaten off the dribble.
Expect the trend to continue unless the Kobes drive the lane more often and the Lakers put some effort into their defense.
Since you've appointed yourself the Big Fox Blogs spelling sheriff. maybe you can help me. I'm trying to figure out how to spell "pedantic douchebag".

I am guessing you haven't played much organized bball, because you would know that teams play similarly physical over the course o####ame, basically if they are being hacked on their shots they will return the favor when they are on defense. The problem arises when the game is called differently on one end than on the other.
After the 1st game, everyone said the Lakers needed to take it to the rim more and shoot less jumpers to get more calls, and to rebound better.
That's precisely what they did.
The game was not fairly called, as was shown in the numerous replays by ABC.
54, what you are calling a trend would be more accurately be described as a complete anomaly. The Celtics haven't changed their style, they just aren't being called for the fouls on shots that the Lakers are.
'Nuff said!
