Dennis Setzer scored his 2005 Indy victory after starting from the pole. Inclement weather forced NASCAR to cancel the scheduled qualifying and the field was set according to the Owner’s Point Standings in which Dennis Setzer’s team was leading at the time.
On that night, the short track specialist led 177 of 200 laps en route to the dominating win at the 0.686-mile O'Reily Raceway Park. The win was the driver's fourth in six races and 16th of his truck career, but his first career top-five at ORP. He started on the pole courtesy of an afternoon rain storm which cancelled qualifying and the race was over almost before it began. Ted Musgrave started on the front row and gave Setzer a challenge for the first couple of laps, but he was no match for Setzer that evening.
This week at ORP Setzer stated, "I might just be the happiest person in the garage at Indy. We had a great run last weekend in Kentucky with the No. 18 Tahoe Dodge. Bringing Jeff Hensley on board has really made a difference in how our team communicates. We won at Martinsville in March and had a really good truck at Mansfield before a parts failure took us out of contention."
"I feel like if we can keep our nose clean we will have a good chance at winning on Friday night. Both the team and myself have scored victories at ORP in the past and I hope we can add another to that list this weekend."
Bobby Hamilton Racing has two victories( 2000 and 2004) at ORP. In 2004 Chad Chaffin drove to victory over Johnny Sauter to score his second win of the season. The No.18 Dodge crossed the finish line 0.348 seconds ahead of the runner-up. The victory was Chaffin's second of the season and second of his truck career. Chaffin's first Craftsman Truck Series win came in June of that year at Dover.
"I drove hard all night," said Chaffin.
Joe Ruttman scored his second of three victories in 2000 for BHRVA by winning at Indy after starting from the pole.
Dennis Setzer is rumored to be heading the list of veteran candidates for one of two rides at Randy Moss. Setzer is currently on a one-year contract with BHR-VA. In response to the rumors around the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series garage area, BHR-VA and driver Dennis Setzer released a statement about their future together. At this time, the team and driver are working collectively with each other and individually on options for the 2009 season.
Heading into the Built Ford Tough 225 weekend the Tahoe Dodge Racing team knew they had a good chance at winning the race. Tahoe Dodge driver Dennis Setzer’s stats at Kentucky Speedway were impressive and he was looking to add to them while he was in town for the running of the 13th race of the 2008 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event. After posting the 11th fastest qualifying lap on Saturday morning Setzer was poised to take on the field later that night.
Once the green flag dropped Setzer drove the No. 18 Tahoe Dodge consistently in the top 15 much of the night. Between laps 22 and 42 Setzer was able to get in a rhythm and passed four trucks to crack the top 10 for the first time all night.
The sixth of eight cautions waved on lap 115 for debris. Setzer hit pit road for his final pit stop. Crew Chief Marcus Richmond made the decision to take on right side scuffs and only one can of fuel. The Tahoe Racing Team jumped into action busting out a great pit stop getting Setzer out in second place. Following the restart on lap 119 Setzer held his own for several laps before falling back to third and then eventually to fourth place before the night was over.
“The truck was the best it had been all night long there at the end,” said Setzer after scoring an impressive fourth-place finish. It was his second top-five finish and fourth top-10 finish of the season.
Dennis Setzer started the #18 Tahoe Dodge Ram 11th in the lineup for Saturday night’s Built Ford Tough 225 at Kentucky Speedway and finished 4th. This moved him up one spot to 10th in the standings after the 13th race of the season.
The 2008 Craftsman Truck Series continued Saturday with the O’Reilly 200 at Memphis Motorsports Park and the Dodge Boys took home a top-10 finish. Stacy Compton finished 10th after starting 15th in the #04 Red River Dodge Dodge Ram. Dennis Setzer finished 12th after starting 11th in the #18 Tahoe Smokeless Dodge Ram. Setzer and Compton are ranked 11th and 19th, respectively in the Craftsman Truck Serie's Points Standings.
