Who is in Deep Do Do? Waltrip? Menard? Kahne? Andretti? LePage?
Mar 16, 2007 | 1:23AM | report this

The following is inspired by 8929fan and that JayJayDean guy.  My take is a little different.  Jay Jay did a good job of discussing some people on the bubble and their situations.  My aim is to determine who is really stuck down in the hole right now.  JayJay, I didn't notice you had so many comments at the end of your post when I started this so forgive me if it is sort of a duplicate post.

The last time I did this it was Michael Waltrip who was in the deepest do do and today that is still the case.  But everybody knew that last time and knows it this time too so there is not much interesting in that.  Wipe your face off Michael, I can't see you.

Sorry NASCARQUEEN, your life must suck almost as bad as does the one of this Sterling Marlin fan.  Don't get me wrong, Mikey is not one of my top five favorites, but you gotta love anyone that ran at the old Nashville Speedway and hails from Owensboro Kentucky.  Plus, I really do like his style and think he is good for the sport.  But he is obviously in very deep Shinola.

My last run through of this before Las Vegas pointed out that Paul Menard was in a deep spot.  Let's see, how is he doing today?  Thank you JayJay for making this easy for me.

Well friends Menard has found his way out of the scheishole and is in 37th place in owner points.  He has climbed plumb up the hole, back into the outhouse.  Congratulations to Paul on this feet of strength and endurance.  Someone get a hose for this man would you?  Give him a Dirty Jobs award when your done with the hose.

8929 fan is worried about her favorite Kasey Kahne who idolizes her.  If Kasey will stop thinking about her when he is driving maybe he will stop wreckin'.  8, leave the boy alone, your messin with the boys mind.

Kasey is 36th in owner points and rain is in the forecast for Atlanta on Friday.  So 8 asked, what affect will this have on Kasey.  Well Jay has answered her, but let me reassure you honey.  (Don't hit me hubby!)  [That's one of those southern "honeys' anyway.]  If it rains, Kasey is in because he was in the top 35 in owner points last year, which might help him, so you may want to start a raindance.

Rain could be good news for some other struggling teams.  Rain would put Dave Blaney, Scott Riggs and Ken Schrader in the show based on last year's owner standings.  These teams have been struggling.  So they may want to join Ray Evernham over near his trailer for the rain dance.  Kenny, take 'em some Little Debbie cakes.

eight/little-debbie.jpg

Rain would hurt John Andretti in the Front Row Motorsports No. 37 Huddle House Dodge Charger.  John failed to qualify on speed at Las Vegas and if it rains at Atlanta he would have no chance to get in the race based on speed.  While this underfunded team may be a surprise, there is no doubt John Andretti can drive well enough to run in Nextel Cup races.  Andretti finished 34th in the No. 37 Camping World Dodge Charger at California.

Bill Elliott failed to qualify the No.37 Huddle House Dodge at Daytona.  The bad break for the team at Daytona was that they were knocked out when Dale Jarrett took the past champion's provisional or Elliot would have been in and John would not be facing the do do.  (WOW, that took a little real research.)

But I am going to forecast Blue Skys in the deep south for today and keep it on the sunny side.  I am going to base my forecast on NASCAR getting qualifying in somehow even in a window between rain if they have too and base my prediction on that.

O.K. so if it doesn't rain who is hurting the most and really in the bat guano?  Well, it still comes back to Front Row Motorsports.  But this time it is Kevin LePage in the 34.  Kevin is barely ahead of Morgan Shephard, who I have previously posted, should be Busch racing anyway.  Even Morgan is ahead of Mikey.  So sad.

Kevin hasn't run as good as Andretti.  He is way out of the money in all categories and really needs to qualify well today if he has any real hopes of running anything near a full Nextel Cup Season.  Ladies and gentlemen, may I introduce to you this weeks I'm standing in stinking fertilizer winner, Kevin LePage.

Out of the ####: Paul Menard

In the ####: Michael Waltrip, boot deep - Kevin LePage, ankle deep

Should be Busch Racing Anyway: Ward Burton, Morgan Shepherd

Wacker Carl Edwards Leads Charge To Mexico
Mar 01, 2007 | 6:24PM | report this

The brush south of the border can get thick in places I hear.  Never fear.  The Buschwackers are coming.  Carl Edwards is leading the way.

Edwards says, “I really love traveling to Mexico.  They have great fans and I am very excited. The Mexican drivers are fast.  They’re going to be very hard to beat because this is their third year in the Busch cars.  We have finished in the top-10 both years, but we struggled a little last year.  I feel like we can do much better this year and I would love to do my back flip in front of the Mexican fans!”

On his right flank is Dave Blaney.

Although this is the third Mexico City race for the Busch Series, it will be Dave Blaney’s first time participating in the Telcel-Motorola 200.  Blaney has never even seen the 2.518-mile road course, but he’s been doing his homework.  Blaney has been watching tapes of the past two Mexico races to get a better feel for the track.  Kicking off the season with a second place finish in Daytona and capturing the pole in California, Blaney and the Fan1st.com team plan to keep the momentum going in Mexico. Although he has never raced at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, he has logged a combined 21 starts at Watkins Glen International and Pocono Raceway.

Behind them are David Gilliland, Juan Pablo Montoya and David Reutimann.  O.K. so it isn't a big bunch of wackers.  Which makes my point.  Separate the venues between Nextel Cup and Busch and you get a truer Busch race.

Of course I am also trying to drag you in here and get you interested in Busch racing.  So stick with me.

Actually this is an excellent opportunity for Regan Smith to climb in the point standings and see if he can win the Busch title this year.  Currently Edwards is second, Blaney is fourth and Smith is ninth.

Apparently, after filing an entry, wacker Greg Biffle who is currently fifth in the points, has decided not to make this trip.  Current points leader and wacker Kevin Harvick did not plan to race.  Neither did wackers Matt Kenseth, Denny Hamlin, Tony Stewart or Kyle Bush.

Coverage of the Telcel-Motorola 200 begins Sunday at 1:30 p.m. ET on ESPN 2.

Ken Schrader is a "Racer"
Jan 11, 2007 | 3:46PM | report this

One word fits Ken Schrader.  And everyone agrees on it.  He's a..."Racer."  He just can't get enough of it.  Now he has put together an Arca/Remax team that will run at Daytona and at least part-time this season and is looking for a sponsor.

Ken Schrader Racing Teams with Bill Baird for Daytona

CONCORD NC (1-8-07) – “I went to the Daytona test a couple weeks back to help someone out,” said Bill Baird. “I had no intention of it turning into anything, but once I got in the car, I had a real tough time climbing out.  “Then me and (Ken) Schrader got to talking at Daytona. We were waiting for the weather to clear out when he said, ‘Let’s go racing’. We started talking some more, and the next thing I know, the talk’s getting a lot more serious.

“As we got into the discussion, I told him that if I was coming to Daytona, I wasn’t just coming to race; I’d have to have a car I could win with. Schrader did some checking around and called me a few days later, and said he thinks he found me the car I need."   We acquired a Bill Davis Racing Dodge, Bill Davis motor; it’s an excellent car. Same car that Dave Blaney drove at the 400 (Daytona) last year.  “I’ll be driving for Ken Schrader Racing.  “It’ll be car #52. Schrader’s guys will crew the car. Donnie Richeson will be crew chief.”

Bill Baird was the 1999 ARCA RE/MAX Series driving champion, driving for – you guessed it – Ken Schrader Racing.  Bill Baird is a ... "Racer."  Baird made his ARCA RE/MAX Series debut at Daytona in 1997 driving the 52 car for Ken Schrader Racing.  After retiring in 2002, Baird stepped out of retirement for what he thought would be one final hurrah in 2004. That was in August of ’04 at the Illinois State Fairgrounds where he climbed back into the driver’s seat for the first time in more than two years, and then climbed out soon after in victory lane. Three weeks later, he finished second at DuQuoin.

Outside of two more ARCA RE/MAX Series attempts at Springfield and DuQuoin in 2005, we haven’t seen, or heard, much from him since.  “Walking away from racing was the toughest thing I ever did,” said Baird. “But I had no choice. My business was struggling, and I had to pay closer attention to what was going on with my business. Right now, the business is going great.”
