McMurray Unaware?`
Jun 09, 2008 | 4:21PM | report this

According to Winston Cup Scene (scenedaily.com) Jamie McMurray is unaware of any attempts by any of his agents to look into another ride possibility for 2009 or 2010.  He says he's happy at Roush.  But what else could he say?  Really.

Jamie McMurray says that he has no plans to leave Roush Fenway Racing, nor does he have any knowledge of the team wanting to let him seek opportunities elsewhere.  The NASCAR Sprint Cup driver seemed somewhat puzzled by a recent story that he could be seeking to leave the team and denied any intent to do so Friday at Pocono Raceway.  McMurray joined Roush Fenway in 2006 and has a best finish of 17th in the standings since that time.  He has one win with the organization.

While he has struggled this season – McMurray is 22nd in the driver standings, the deepest standing for any of the organization's five Cup teams – he says that he not only has no plans to leave, but that he has no knowledge of any work being done on his behalf to seek opportunities with other teams.  McMurray specifically said that he had not put any feelers out concerning potential offers from elsewhere.  Asked if anyone had done so on his behalf, such as an agent, he stated, "Not that I am aware of."  He repeated that answer when asked if other teams had inquired about his status.

I was surprised that Roush signed McMurray to begin with. Even though he was a young driver at the time, it didn't fit the normal protocol of a Roush driver.
Normally, Roush likes to teach his drivers habits and situations from the start instead of getting a driver that has already bad habits.

I was puzzled from the start of the McMurray/Roush relationship when Mcmurray couldn't win that first year with all those great Kurt Busch chassis'.

It looks like the writing is on the wall, especially considering how well David Ragan is running. Between Erik Darnell and Colin Braun, Roush figures to do a little better than Mcmurray next year.

McMurray is doing a great job of saying the right things, being civil without drawing too much attention to himself. I dont think he'' be back wih Roush though.. Maybe the other fulltimer for nexy year at TEI with Truex and Almorilo... Martin will eventually retire again lol and i think Teresa is realizing sshe needs some drastic changes to survive without Jr marketing dollars.
just a thought.

McMurray could end up with TEI, Hendrick (in the 5 car), or RCR (in the 33). He won't be back with Roush, as they are cutting back to four teams as mandated by NASCAR.

I read later today and may blog it this week, that Biffle is close to signing with Roush before Michigan. If Bif signs, I believe Jamie has to look elsewhere. First, he should probably talk to Roush about slipping over to Yates. However, if Stewart leaves Gibbs, then a full fledged silly season is on and Jamie might have some better options.

If the cat in the hat wants him, he has enough pull to give him a ride in say Yates land...The cat in the hat can only have 4.. Who goes?

It's pretty much true that silly season didn't end this year because for one, the Roush thing is imminent. It creates the who goes question that does not normally exist. That's why I think if Biffle signs with Roush, Jamie has to ask Jack about the Yates situation and working that out. Even if that is in the works or worked out, Jamie still has to decide if that is what he wants or if he wants to ask Jack for permission to talk to other teams. No matter what there are going to be a lot of steps in this process.
