Compton and Setzer To Drive For BHR
Jan 11, 2008 | 1:34PM | report this

As I suspected might happen, BHR partner Arrington Manufacturing part owner Stacy Compton will be driving the number 4 truck for the Craftsman Truck Series Race Team this season. As had previously been reported during SPEED race coverage last season, Dennis Setzer will continue driving the number 18 for the team.

"Stacy Compton will drive the #4 Bobby Hamilton Racing Dodge in the Craftsman Truck Series this season, team spokesman Amanda Jones confirmed Thursday. Compton, a co-owner of BHR partner Arrington Manufacturing, and Dennis Setzer will drive for the organization in 2008.

During an interview by Dave Moody on Sirius Radio, Compton said that Dodge will be heavily involved with the team and sponsorship will be provided by Dodge Dealers on the #4 Dodge."

It's Compton And Setzer

Daytona Practice

Compton is practicing both trucks today in Daytona.  There has been no word to date on who will sponsor the #18 truck.  Fastenal will not be back with BHR in 2008 and has announced they will sponsor the #40 Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates entry in the Sprint Cup series and driver Dario Franchitti.

Well lets hope they can get some sponsorship for the Fastenal truck.. figures Fastenal would go with the Open wheel guys. Only problem most of those guys usually go back to open wheel after a season.

photo,

Dario can drive. He will stick around. I expect JPM will do much better this year too.

Villenueve? Now that one I don't get. He is obviously past his prime as a driver. But he may do alright too. We will see.

Photo -
I am hoping your predictions are incorrect. Since I have followed both IRL and NASCAR, I am a fan of both Franchitti and Hornish. They are both great drivers. I am hoping they will have some success this year (not so sure they would be in the Chase) but that they will hang in prove a lot of the naysayers wrong.

Not that you are among them, but of course it would be easy for them to fall back to their original roots, should this season not meet their expectations.

Falcons - I am not very keen on Villenueve myself either. Will be interesting to see how this shakes out.

Sorry not to have commented about your original topic...the truck series drivers and their sponsorship.I only casually follow the trucks & am and not up to speed on the details there.

I don't believe I have met you before in the blogging forum, since I have only become a participant here since this past fall. Looking forward to reading more of your blogs.

You are right on the drivers. I always got the feeling Villenueve bought his ride and may be thinking part owner down the road.

As tight as sponsorship money is getting, Many sponsors are going for the big names in racing no matter where they were before and dumping the little guys thus shrinking the amount of money for the up comming talent.

Gerrel,

I forgot Hornish was doing the deal this year too. He doesn't seem to be picking up the stock cars as fast as JPM, Dario or Jaques though. It will be interesting to see how it works out.

I am a big Bobby Hamilton fan so the announcement of the drivers was big news to me and newsworthy enough in my opinion that I thought some here might be interested given the veteran drivers involved. I didn't post the Arrington story earlier because I didn't think people here would care that much. It seemed to much of a CTS detail for a wider audience to appreciate very much. So I kind of updated the whole situation with this post and drew a few comments as I expected.

I don't expect people to comment on everything. There isn't enough time for that. Read what looks interesting. Comment if the post sparks a thought you want to share.

I got all wound up in this last racing season and tried to make myself King of the NASCAR blogs on Fox or something. I had to take a breath and step back. I made a ton of friends among NASCAR bloggers and on the entire blog as well. However, I also wrote some things that created a ton of enemies at some junctures.

Write as much or as little as you want. Don't feel pressured to respond or not respond or read or not read for that matter. Find a balance and enjoy your time here. Welcome to the blog.

Cheers!

Gerrel:

Falcons is one of the origional NASCAR bloggers. Has been a close friend and co conspirator in the past. Quite knowledgable about NASCAR.

It has been hinted he was the God Father of the NASCAR Mafia which really doesn't exist.

photo,

Thanks. You may be right on Villeneuve. Given the team he is on that is entirely possible. They put on a good show though late last season in preparation for this year. So we will see what happens.

Gerrel,

Has anyone warned you about this photo guy? Just in case they haven't, if he ever comes over to visit, lock up the Pepsi Light, especially if you have the version with the little bit of grape flavor in it.

Cheers!

Photo - Original NASCAR blogger? When did Fox start this blogging website. I seem to remember you had a blog last year mentioning the (non- existant)Nascar mafia.

Falcons - Well, I have had to opportunity to talk to Photo quite a bit on the GGW boards. I was not aware of his fondness for Pepsi Light. Of course I only have diet Coke and Diet Rootbeer and Ice Tea at my house, so Photo would need to make another beverage choice, when he visits. (He seems to mention a preference for Banana Bread lately and Little Debbie Snacks). Since I reside in the balmy location of Chicago, I do not anticipate that Photo would be coming to visit anytime soon, LOL.

Gerrel,

I wouldn't call myslf an "original" NASCAR blogger. However, photo and myself worked woth some of these other great folks around here to create a really neat community of NASCAR bloggers last spring.

Do you have any of those Little Debbie Devil's Food cakes? If so, I may have to come up and visit.

Sorry - No Little Debbie Cakes in the house. I have enjoyed way too many cookies and Hersheys Kisses over the holidays. Now I am trying to get back on track with better eating habits and consistant exercise. I do however have South Beach Diet High Protein Cereal Bars if you're interested, LOL.

No thanks on the South Beach bars. I own a Curves franchise. I can't be seen with anything but Curves bars.

Are you being serious on the Curves franchise? I am actually a member of Curves myself since 2006. And I have had the Curves bars (actually have tried a lot of the sports/nutrition bars that are out), and wouldn't have thought that too many men would eat them as they are only 100 calories, and rather lite, but perfect for diet time :)

Yes, I am serious, I bought a Curves franchise and began operating it in November. I am going to Texas for training next week.

Is your club doing 30 Ways to Amaze? Do you have any tips for me?

My wife is on South Beach as well, per doctors orders. She has friends on the South Beach web site. She just picked up a beach friend today that goes by nascarlady (or something like that). It wasn't you was it? Funny, huh?

No, I do not blog on any other sites...so it can't be me:) I belong to the Des Plaines, Il Curves location. I work in downtown Des Plaines, so I go there at lunch.

I think I'll just Foxmail you more...as this has nothing to do with NASCAR,and will end up being a page long, and I am not always brief in my comments.

I don't do the FOX mail thing. It takes to long for the site to load for me and I am impatient. You can say what you want here. It's no big deal. Long threads having nothing to do with the original blog happen all the time.

Or, email me at kwedsi@yahoo.com.

I own the Curves in Story City, Iowa.
