Bobby Hamilton, Jr. Moves Into Fifth
Oct 01, 2007 | 12:51PM | report this

With five races remaining in the 2007 NASCAR Busch Series Point’s Championship, Bobby Hamilton, Jr. has moved into a tie for fifth in the standings.  Following Saturday’s race at Kansas Speedway, Hamilton moved into a tie with Nextel Cup driver David Ragan for fifth position.   Only one true Busch Series driver, Jason Leffler, stands ahead of Hamilton in the point’s race.  Full time Nextel Cup driver Carl Edwards continues to lead Nextel Cup driver David Reutimann in race for the championship.

“We are excited to be inside the top-five in point’s right now,” Hamilton said. “This team has worked hard all year in what has been the toughest year ever for competition.  We are looking forward to the last five races of the season.”

Perhaps it's me but isn't the Busch series meant to be a stepping stone for the drivers who strive to make it into the Cup races ? How can any driver feel that they'll make it when there are guys from the Cup series still racing in the lower echelons of the sport. And in many ways depriving some talent from obtaining a ride.
I know the sponsors crave success but it's too self serving and doesn't really help the guys who aspire to make it to the upper echelons of the sport.
One thing you can be happy about however was the fact that your Falcons garnered their first NFL win over the weekend. Harrington played like a real veteran and surprised many with his composure.
I've two new posts up written under this guise. What Happened In Little Rock Reverberrated Around The World ....Fifty Years On ! And then there's Paper Tigers, Champions Or Simply Just Not Good Enough ?
Let me know what you think as to the merits of both pieces ?
I'll look forward to reading your comments.

He is having a good year and is going un-noticed. Yes his average is 19th. But Reuittiman's is 18th and he is second to Edwards. The boy deserves some kudos. As of now, he doesn't even have a sponsor for next year and thus, his ride is in jeopardy.

top,

I agreee with you. Hopefully running the COT full time in Cup next year will cut down on Wackers. Then in 08, maybe running Camaros and Mustangs will do the same thing. Perhaps the problem has been solved. We will just have to see.

It's the damn sponsors that've made the Busch series basically unbearable to watch. Because they're the ones if anything dictates who they want to see driving the cars that they sponsor instead of real talent being nurtured in the series. Hence the reason I mainly watch Nextel Cup races and F1. At least there I'm witnessing the best the genre has to offer.
With his win Japan Hamilton now has but to finish in any of the two final races of the season to secure the F1 driver's championship. How's that for a rookie in his first year of F1 racing ?
