HAMILTON GAINS GROUND
Sep 11, 2007 | 10:14PM | report this

With a 16th place finish in Friday Night’s Emerson 250 NASCAR Busch Series race, Bobby Hamilton, Jr. moved within 102 points of fifth position in the season long point’s race. The driver of the McDonald’s Ford Fusion currently stands in sixth position, second among non Nextel Cup drivers.

With time winding down, Hamilton hung tough and overcame slight damage to the right front of his car. The checkered flag waved with the McDonald’s Ford in 16th position. The finish allowed Hamilton to reposition himself for a run at fifth place in the point’s race. Nextel Cup driver David Ragan stands just 102 points ahead of Hamilton with seven races remaining in the 2007 Busch Series season.

“We had a super fast race car tonight, qualifying just made it tough on us,” Hamilton said. “We keep learning more information about these race cars, now we can go back, take this weekend off and apply some of the information to the final races of the year.”

I think it's more he doesn't have the model looks sponsors want for their products.

Thanks for reading and commenting.

Cheers!

Yeah I know, Thats what I ment by OLD SCHOOL. Here's one for you. Kenny Wallace wins at NHIS in the 88. Would the team leave him in or let Ricky Rudd back in ? I know its a blue moon one.

Last I heard Yeley was headed to the 88. Have you heard anything further on that?

Falcons, J.J. has signed with Hall of Fame Racing. He is taking the place of Tony Raines. He will still be connected with Gibbs. Also, don't you think Bobby, Jr., likes life the way it is. Do you really think he would want the "rushed" life of a cup driver? His family and family time are very important to him.

Travis Kvapil is driving the 88 next year.

EDIT: Falcons, did you fall off the NASCAR map or what? Yates is in alliance with Roush now, so he hired Kvapil for the Cup car. The Newman-Haas merger with Yates is dead. Speculation is that when Roush has to cut a team to get down to four he will simply just siphon it off to Yates.

Now that I think about it I'm surprised you weren't all over that.

I missed the Yates Newman deal falling through. How did that happen after they announced it?

Didn't hear the Kvapil news.

Yes he will siphon it off. NASCAR can't enforce that four car rule very well.

My guys are out of contention for a championship (Marlin, Hamilton and Schrader). So I have moved on to the Braves late narrow chances and football.

Cheers!

vol,

Missed that news too.

Bobby would take a Yates ride if offered.

Kvapil signing did not help him at all though.

Cheers!

It sounds like NASCAR will OK the transfer of the team to Yates, but they have to make sure the people are all officially Yates employees when that happens. I don't blame Roush Fenway for making this plan, because it takes care of a lot pf their employees that were facing getting cut.

It just seems to me that all NASCAR can do is enforce it at superficial big picture level. There is no way they can enforce it at the level of very intricate and private business deals.

Anyway, they lost me when they did not fine Harvick and Montoya. I am just glad Harvick beat Jr. by more than 100 points. Otherwise, an argument could have been made that the lack of a 100 point fine to Harvick knocked Jr. out of The Chase.
