"I am really looking forward to going back to Belle Isle. I have driven on the course they are going to use for the race. It is a difficult course and it is going to be very important to stay out of trouble. Since this is an event that Roger Penske has been involved with, you know it is going to be a good event because of his attention to detail."
· This is the inaugural event at The Raceway at Belle Isle for the IndyCar Series and the first open wheel race since 2001. · Franchitti has four top-five finishes in five starts at Belle Isle including a win in 1999. · Franchitti led 62 laps on his way to his 12th top-five finish of the season at Infineon Raceway where he also captured his third pole of the season. · He is one of two IndyCar Series drivers to finish 14 of 15 races in the top 10 this season and has led more laps than any other driver.
Dario has a good chance if he drives well and avoids any mishaps. How ever, Dixon has been getting stronger every race too so it is a #### shoot on who will dominate this race.

Hey you got to admitt this serise is starting to heat up, Just need a few more drivers/teams added to the pool. The more in the pool makes it rougher water for all.
right, what happened at the end with Rice, Dixon and Franchitti? I was just getting updates so I haven't seen anything but for the "yellow for contact between #9, #15 and #27" and that Dario finished up in front of those 2 in 6th, lol
If Dario just punted Scott into him then Dario deserves to be sat out for the next (and final) race.

I like both Dixon and Franchitti (and Rice ... the innocent victim here). It seems likely that Dixon knew exactly what he was doing in collecting Franchitti. And it's JUST what Michael Andretti would have done in the same place, if he was sitting in the #9 Target/Ganassi Honda.
Tough thing to do, but smart too. And Scott Goodyear had speculated on what the racing would be like between the two of them near the end ("sounds bad, but you've gotta think about making sure to take your competitor out too if you can't make it" - well, that's not exactly a quote, but it was something like that ...).
Very interesting. And I LOVE it when Michael loses his temper (which is nearly every race), he just CAN'T speak without spewing out the worst possible and most self-serving perspective on whatever incident occurred).

did Michael go mental again? That boy's gonna need some tranqs if he keeps doing that *rolls eyes*
oh and if Scott deliberately collected Dario, then he needs to miss the final race; it's one thing to accidentally crash into your title rival, it's another to do it on purpose....let alone mess it up, lol

We'll never know (unless Dixon admits it) whether or not he did it on purpose. But it sure looked as though he released his brakes and rolled back to the wall JUST when Franchitti chose to go that way to avoid his car. Had he kept on the brakes, he would have stayed in the middle of the track; so it IS possible he was doing what you would normally do in this situation - let the car roll to one side of the track or the other to give other cars the most room to miss his car. But it sure looked as though he steered the car to that position in just such a manner as to collect Dario.
Rice ran out of gas and couldn't get out of Dixon's way fast enough. Then Dixon did not keep his foot on the brake and rolled backwards into Dario. Your boy is a dirty player my man.

One quick question... Why do they spend the money to build a track and then admit that there are only two places to pass??And after they know of the problem they don't fix the problem..Watching follow the leader is not racing. The only good action was the results of a wreck.
I'm not sure about that, Falcons....I was expecting something completely different from what you guys were saying. I reckon I know what was going through Scott's head at that time; keep the engine running and don't hit the inside wall.
He tried to swing the car backwards so he'd end up facing the right way again....it was just that Dario was already going that way to get around.
So a racing shunt for mine....deadset unlucky for Dario though he does take a lead into the final race which is a bonus I guess considering Scott was in front of him going into the final lap.
You would think they could do better wouldn't you? The real action was essentially the drama created by gas mileage, short pitting, short fueling and the timed race strategies. I wonder why they don't allow longer straights eliminating some turns to see who has power and potentially allow more places to pass. I think they are probably concerned about allowing these cars to get up too much speed given the potentially hazardous crashes that might result where drivers would be braking to get the edge into the turns at the end of the straights.
I was jerking you around a bit. Only Dixon knows if he simply let off the brake to clear the track or if he intentionally slid up into Dario.
After I learned Rice ran out of gas the whole thing made a lot more sense to me. It was just a racin' incident and it worked to our advantage, so I'll take it.
lol, to be fair, Dario should be further in front than 3 points....Dixon had the third best car out there so the order *should* have been Dario, Tony then Scott really.
I thought Dixon had the second best car myself and that Tony kind of lucked out on the timed race angle. But he had the third best car I thought. Wheldon can't be too proud of his third in his bad car. I imagine Danica thinks she actually did something to deserve second.
Yes, this weekend's race in Chicago is the last race. I think the IRL does the best job of finishing its season before American football gets going in this country. Football is so number one here.
it's about number 63 here....although they do usually say who's in the playoffs. I actually have to avoid radio for the day of the Superbowl if I've taped it and want to watch it after I get home from work. I don't have to bother with that for NASCAR, lol
oooo if I stay up late enough Saturday nights (midnight) radiosport switches over to your foxsports which is rather cool, though they tend to put lots of ads on for things I have no idea about, but anyway :P
